  1. You'll be about 20-30 minutes away,I'm in Somerton.
  2. That would be great.Where in Bucks are you moving to?
  3. Rich, the truck was a 1980 or 85, i will check on that for you.The year of the picture God only knows. We moved those scrapers around like they were kidde cars.It was nothing if we had a rain day on one job and another was able to work those TS-24's would be motoring down the road. The most I can recall moving at 1 time was 8-10,we had to move them about 15 miles. The farest I drove one was about 120 miles. We drove them from Philly to Baltimore. That was out rt 30 to York Pa then down 83 to the Maryland line,at that point we hired Joe Huck from Baltimore to haul them the rest of the way due to the MD state police.
  4. Philatruck i was the driver of that load. What was so nice about that setup was the trailer was 10' wide.Made loading those scrapers a real simple act,got to the point that I could do it by myself. In all the years we used that trailer the police never question us about the width.
  5. It looks nice but I'ld bet once you got up close to it ,it would be all different. If the floors are shot, back of cab rotted out well then you have a real job on your hands.I know not everyone has the truck like I started with, that would be a family owned truck from new. That was garage kept most of it's life.I have had to replace 2 panals in the floor that we had done some 30 plus years ago and under the air cleaner was also rusted out along with a small panal along the rear of cab at the bottom.Other then those few things the truck is in great condition and runs great. All I'm trying to say here is to try and start out with the best truck you can find and afford.I'm teaching myself to do the body panals and any of the body work. The great thing about these old Mack are they were built from real steel that can be worked with.Just my 2 cents.Have a great day.Mike Durkin
  6. Just a quick up date.Checked back into hospital on 10-2 home 10-8.Went back in on 10-9 trouble breathing.Hadphomonia, also while the operation was going on they nik my bladderso now I have the bag for another 3-4 months till that heals.Won't be back working on the old girl until early next year. Will keep ypu all posted.
  7. home from the hospitol

  8. As many of you already know I redoing my 1964 B873SX.I am looking to get the steering wheel redone, have anyone ever had this done and what were the results.I am leaning towards leaving the wheel and the bulldog on the radiator as is.
  9. I am back to work on the old girl for a little bit here now before I go back in for my last surgery.i have the motor and trans back in place and getting ready to set the radiator back in.i would like to pull here out of the shop and get a picture of here to post here.will try that next week, have to put steering box back in for that to happen..will post them when it done
  10. I had to have some of that green paint made up special. My dealer hadn't had any in years.
  11. It had the green cab and a silver tank.
  12. Did anyone see the new fuel truck that JDM got.I saw it go down Rt 1,it had no lettering on it yet, must of just came from the dealer.
  13. Where about in PA are you,I'm in Philly.I'm doing my B87 over,i've posted pic of it,it listed in this forum under B87 rebuild. It been awhile since I've posted any pic due to stay in the hospital.I removed the cab and then completely gutted the cab.Removed all tires and wheels, motor and trans, then sandblasted it all and then primed and painted it all.Would like to see your truck up close if your not that far.Mike Durkin
  14. I was planning on making the trip out,but I think considering the condition I'm in if I were to go I have not just my wife but the doctors wanting to kill me.4 hours in the truck is just not a good thing to do.Will have to wait till next year.
  15. We used to do the same to our loaders. It was for plowing snow with the plates between the teeth you wouldn't leave trails of snow behind you.
  16. What part of Pa you from,i'm from philly m doing my B87 over, been in the family since new.
  17. Did they pick up some work(milling) over in NJ?I know they weren't that busy this summer.Next time you see Herbie in the shop tell him I said hello.
  18. Thanks guys for the well wishes.I stsrted to drive alittle this past week.I hope to get back down to the shop today to get some pic of the work that I had done right before the surgery. The motor and trams is back in the frame.
  19. Mike,if you can tell me where it at,I know some fellows in the area that may be able to get a pic of it to post on here. They may even know the owner.
  20. Will be keeping your family in my prayers.
  21. Mike,is that Schuykill Haven Concrete Products that you were at.I think I know the guy that runs that place his name is Tom Koons, used to work for the Cat dealer in that area,Cleveland Bros.I can never figured out why they don't use Rt 61 north to get to Rt81 with the larger beams.Could it be that they won't make it around those curves at the bottom of the hill below Frackville.I've taken all of our oversize loads up that way?
  22. Your truck looks great.I was hoping to have my B87 done for the Gerharts All Mack show this year, but this damm surgery has me all fouled up.Won't be back working on it till Dec.at best.I would love to have a single axle B61 with a updated motor for better mpg as my daily driver.
  23. If you don't mind me asking, what was the price of it? I priced out 15 Cat tri axles and they were $176,000.MY MACK SALESMEN told me that Mack would be in that range.By the way that a fine looking truck you have.
  24. Vinny,i don't know what condition your truck is in,but what i would be looking at is what you are going to spend on your truck verus this truck. The one thing going for the dump is that once it's roadable you could put it to work hauling mulch or anything else to help pay for it.I know down here in eastern PA if you want only a small amount of stone the quarries won't send it out.You have to go to one of the lumber yards that have the stone and then you wilpay out your ass for it.In your case if someone wanted say 2-3 tons of stone you could go right to the quarry and get it.
  25. Ernie, will keep your son in my prayers.Good luck and God speed to his full recovery.
