  1. You are talking about the part #,that was the only part of the sticker I couldn't completely read.
  2. What ever happen to that TV show about the family of 7-8 brother from up in Maine. My spelling won't be right but I think their name was Pelitear, they had some new MAck Titians.
  3. I ended up going to the local mall that has a sticker place, and asked the kid if he could make me one. He said no problem, will try and post a picture of it.
  4. Just another fine example that you can't kill a MACK.
  5. I'm in the process of restoring my 1964 B873SX tractor that has a Cummins motor in it.I am looking for the decal that is on the glovebox door for Instructions for Cold Weather Starting. The part number is on the lower left hand corner.I can only read part of mind,it looks like 132474,I have tried Cummins but without the complete # they can't find anything. Thanks for any help.Mike Durkin
  6. Rick Harper,no truer words have been said.I'm going to spend the money for the parts I need and won't complain about because it what I choose to do.How many other so-called truck manurfactor give back to their end user like Mack does. They put on one hell of a show this past fall.I didn't see any donations buckets anywhere. How many other manurfactors have a antique museum that you can call up and ask for and get information on your truck.Like the Big Dog saysALWAYS WAS,STILL IS,ALWAYS WILL BE the king of the road.Just my 2 cents worth.Mike Durkin
  7. I was just out on Watts website to check out some of the prices for the parts I will be needing for my B87 tractor. Now I am not complaiining at all, because if I was needing these for say my CL700 tractor I'ld be paying atleast the same if not more.I do have some of the parts that I had gotten many years ago before Watts was having them, this was when Tidewater Mack had them.It is what it is,if you want to run a BIG DOG then you just grin and bear it.I will be calling Watts in the next couple om months when I get further along with the doors and the cab.
  8. Yes,it does have 24" rubber.About the top speed I got clocked many years ago coming down the PA Pike by the state police, they say I was doing 70 and the pedal was as far down as she would go.The trooper and myself had a long talk about the trucks and the state of affaires and such not,and he left me go.I think to this day he didn't believe that old girl would run like that.We also had a 1958 B873SX and there was no difference between the two trucks.Other than the 58 would take off alittle quicker off the line than the 64 would do.
  9. The rears in my truck is 7.58,with a top end speed of 72.
  10. Mine has some rust, but nothing major.Doors both shut tight, don't sag on hingles. No leaks.I can remember taking our truck out of our yard with a Cat D9 dozer on the lowboy and take it to Allentown,PA that wasn't 100 miles one way and if I was to come home loaded I would have to get fuel before I left to come home.I was ok if I was empty coming home.In the early 80's we did a job in Maryland and we didn't even make it one way with a load on.When it was loaded I think it would get about 1-2 mpg.Between the 2 tanks it only held 100 gallons. But it was the best truck I ever drove,it never left us stranded.I also had a CL700 with most all the bells and whisters, like a/c air ride seat, radio, but the old B model just came to work and work it did.It 's 65,000 rears never went out,I think we rebuilt them once but that about all we ever did to that truck.I can see now what it means "BUILT LIKE A MACK TRUCK really means.Taking it apart I see that where ever Mack needed 2 bolts to hold something togather they used 3-4 bolts and over size ones at that.If you have anyother questions you can call me at 215-669-1252,MIke Durkin
  11. I have a 1964 B873SX tractor that I'm in the process of redoing. We have owned the truck since new,so the truck means alot more to me then anyone else. You couldn't give me $50,000 for my truck.I'm not saying it worth that to someone else but to me it is,I guess if I had to sell it then that would be a different story. Before I started on my truck I would have driven it to CA. and back.Like I said before the only thing that would stop me would be the 3-4 mpg.My trucks serial number ends in 1117 so it not that far off that truck.Good luck to who ever buys it.
  12. What the right price, and does it run or when was the last time it ran.
  13. Umodelnut,I would think that the U models were in $35,000-40,000 range.Like I said before they were a light duty truck. They had been ordered by Ryder Trucking and they ended up not taking them,so the dealer offered them to my father because he wanted tractor right away, the r's had to be built and my dad didn't want to wait,so we took them. All we had to do was to order 10 more dump trailers to replace the ones we put under the u-models.The u's would out run the r's top speed but they would shit the bed when ever we would load them over 80,000 which was quite often. We kept a spare front and rear rear's for them in stock all the time.
  14. This truck isn't even broken in yet,it just turned over 72,000 miles this summer.I had to replace the batteries and that is about it,the rest of the truck is completely original.
  15. While I was going through some of the paper work on my old trucks,I came upon the original bill of sale for the 20 R models we brought new back in 1979.These trucks were equip not with much chrome but they were built for what Macks were ment to be used for and that was work. The total price for all 20 was $898,080 or $44,904.00 each. The same thing today would most likely run you well over $100,000.I can't find the bill of sale for the 15 DM600 triaxle dumps we also brought or the 10 U models we took off there hands. The U models were built for hiway running not that good for construction work. They kept the mech.busy.
  16. I remember last year I was traveling up the Jersey Turnpike and saw a B81 dump sitting along what looked like a landfill.I think it was right north of the Newark Airport. It didn't look to be in that bad of condition. Will try and find out how owns it.
  17. Where are you located at.I'm restoring a 1964 B873sx tractor. It in Philly. You can come take a look at it.
  18. Well fellows I made it over to the paint supply store this afternoon and ordered 2 quarts of the green metallic paint for the inside of my B87.What I did was I brought along with me the glovebox door and I removed the little plate for the engine rpm's and we had a clean original sample. He then had his fellow that mixes up his paint take that door and was going to match it up.Will be picking it up on Tuesday morning. Will let you all know how it turns out.
  19. kscarbel, thanks for the info, I will be at the paint supplier on Monday and also be calling Kirker to see if they can point me in the right direction.I'm surprise that with all the b models still around that someone hasn't had a batch made up in spray cans.Mike Durkin
  20. kscarbel, where did you get these numbers from and they still able to be had from Mack.If not maybe I can give the numbers to a paint supplyer and he can cross refence them.Thanks.Mike
  21. Never know there were anyother brand of truck other than a Mack.It like compareing apples and bananas. My father always told us boys you stick with what got you there in the first place.Mack was the only truck that you could buy that was Mack from bumper to bumper.
  22. Your right the old girl does look good all shined up,but the real old girl looks better to me.I guess I'm just a sucker for those old B models. That what I started out driving for my dad,it was an ex B61 dump that we changed over to a tractor for the light duty lowboy work.I can recall hooking onto the lowboy with a Cat D9 on it.Throught I never get to where I was going but we made it.Them were the days.
  23. I will be at the paint supply store on Monday. Thanks all for the help,Mike
