Never know there were anyother brand of truck other than a Mack.It like compareing apples and bananas.My father always told us boys you stick with what got you there in the first place.Mack was the only truck that you could buy that was Mack from bumper to bumper.

Your right the old girl does look good all shined up,but the real old girl looks better to me.I guess I'm just a sucker for those old B models.That what I started out driving for my dad,it was an ex B61 dump that we changed over to a tractor for the light duty lowboy work.I can recall hooking onto the lowboy with a Cat D9 on it.Throught I never get to where I was going but we made it.Them were the days.

I have checked into having it put into spray cans but you are correct in that it awful $$$.I will check out the Detroit Green, this week.

I am looking for the green paint for the interior of my B87 that I'm restoring.I would like to paint all the smaller parts first before I go and mix up a batch for the whole inside of the cab.I do have all the paint numbers for the paint to get it in quarts,gallons.Just could use it in spray cans.Thanks MIke Durkin

I am in the process of restoring my 1964 B87,that has been in the family since new.I pulled the seats out of it today to see how bad the floor was.I was told by the last old timer that is still around that we had repaired it sometime ago.I can see that the front cab mounts have been welded up with a support to hold up the front of the cab.My question is ,does anyone have a picture of what a cab floor should look like.My two rear mpount I will have to repair.Are there any floor panals out there to be had or do you have to make your own. I will keep you all posted on how it going.I will take a picture of my floor on Thursday,didn't have the camera with me today.Thanks for any help.MIke Durkin

Where di d Anderson go with the waste dirt off that job.It looked like most of his milling machines sat all summer,I guess the city didn't do much milling this past year.

Rich,yes they still have a few R models around.Someone told me H&K have around 200 or more trucks now.Not that they are all running,I think most of them are parked,they have a company valled Stone Express out of Delaware that would run sand from Del and take stone back with them,nowadays I don't see hardly any of those trucks around It just a sign of our great economy.Construction work here in and around PHilly is almost dead.There are two large jobs going on one by Welch out of Chicago,and Anderson Construction out of Philly.Both job are on the cheap side,Welch left 25 million on the table,his job is a 220 million job but that extra 25 million would look awful nice on his side of the table.

You guys have me thinking with the few brain cells I have left.I will go and visit the State Police and see just what they think.

Bigdogtrucker,to answer your ? I would say they disappeared sometime in the late 80's.We still used afew bmodels for water tankers but that was about it.JDM had a shit load of b models mixers,dumps running.I guess what really got them to all disappear were the DOT boys.There are a few township down on the outskirts of Philly that are inpossible to deal with. Rich,H&K has up dated their fleet to mostly Granaites and a few DM.Any of the older trucks are the ones that came with the companies they brought.I don't see the numbers of trucks running around hauling stone and fill like it was back 3-5 years ago.The quarries around here have cut back on their times they are open and really have cut back with the amount of truckers they used.Where did you see that B81 in Sellersville I would like to go and see it,maybe even make a offer on it.Mike

At one time it was loaded with old B models.We had somewhere around 15,JDM about 50 maybe more,Glasgow about 15+,and all the other moms and pops that had 1-2 trucks.There were more B61 than were B81 dumps around here.

I guess if I ever want to see anything older than trucks from the early-mid ninties I will have to move up to your parts of the world.Down here in Philly I can probley count on both hands how many old DM,B models trucks are still around.I'm not talking about trucks that are still being used,but trucks that are parked in someone yard. It's may be for the best because if they were around I would most likely be going after them.I know of just one B81 that is sitting in a fellow yard,that is just rusting away to junk.I talked with the owner this past summer and he is not about to sell it.He told me that he was going to restore it.That will happen when pigs learn to fly.I guess I will have to keep looking.

daveigou,you bring up a good point.You say that we can still pull trailers,I was always told that once you put antique tags on your tractor you could not pull trailers anymore.I have the antique tags on my 79 R-model but I still pull trailers anyways.I just keep my toes cross when I get stop.My insurance company is ok with pulling trailers as long as it not for work,play only.Mike Durkin

I brought a antique caterpillar tractor from a fellow up in MA. a few years back that had a B81 tandam dump restored in his garage.His name was Louis Iaruzzi.He wasn't to far from Boston.

That is a nice r-model,here's another nice one.It a 79 model with only 72,000 orignal miles.Not as much chrome but it just the way we brought 45 Macks that year just for WORK.

They would cut the balls off your bulldog if they caught you driving with a camcorder in your hand down here in Philly.Hell they fine you a $100 if you even have a cell phone in your hand.I saw one jackass get pulled over for talking on the phone and when the officer walk up to the car she just kept right on talking.

Paul,try talking to Matt Phall.He has a 1958 B873SX that was once one of our trucks.It is a heavy spec with a winch on it.We brought it new in 58.The only problem is over the years we had replaced the cab with one that was concaved in the back.I have the sister truck to that one,my is a 1964 model of the same spec.Good Luck Mike Durkin
