Hi, Where I got the truck was about a block off of the main hiway that went in front of the firestone plant ( kinda looked like it was shut down ) the street was directly across from the main entrance on a dead end street, the guy I got it from had a freight terminal there that looked like he auctioned off everything, He didnt look to old, and he said he had more interrest in his drag car than the truck. go to the links section in this site, should be a link for the b-model registry, click that and that site has downloadable pdf file that has all the specs. on the engines, bore, stroke horse power, also tells what truck they were in and all the info on the trans and ratios, wiring diagrams, cab specs front axles and about anythink you will want. this is is the way I do it if I use the clutch at all, I will try to put it a step by step 1, you want to down shift, as you let up on the throtle push the clutch in about half way, and kinda snap the gear shift into nutral, In time you can do this with out the clutch, DO NOT PUSH CLUTCH TO FLOOR!, why? some trucks have thing called a clutch brake, Its there to stop the transmission gears from turning I will get to that later. on to step 2 2, You are in neutral, let the clutch up, this will spin the gears in the trans to the same rpm as the engine. 3, raise the rpm up to lets say 1600 rpm and try to slip the gear shift into 4th, You will feel it grind a little you can hold it there right when it starts to engauge the gear, and the gear shift will kinda bounce a little in your hand, or it might go right in, 4, kind play with the throttle some, raise the rpm up some and it should scratch a little and then go in. some guys will put the clutch all the way to the floor between step 3 and 4. this is a double clutch technique, this uses the clutch brake to slow the trans gears down so it will go in. I never had it work for me, maybe I dont do it right. let me know how you come out Fred

The 5 speeds have a big rpm drop between gears, You would have to snap it out of gear as soon as you let off of the gas and then get the rpm up quite a bit so it will go in to the next lower gear. I sometimes use the clutch to get the trans out of gear, slowly increse the rpm and float it in to gear without the clutch. It will go in when the rpm is right, It also has a lot to do with how much slop is in the drive line. Fred

Yep, thats the one. I had been looking for one close to home for a long time. I was very learry of buying a truck off of ebay, but all in all I believe I got a good one. I got to drive down alot of roads with the grass growing down the middle to get home. About 150 miles of Illinois and Indiana back roads. You wouldn't know anyting about the previous owners? Fred

tell you what I will do, I will post a couple of pictures of whats left and you can see if anything is there you want, most of the stuff you are asking for is long gone, although I did buy the truck from the hptowing guy, first name steve. He my know where that stuff went to. Good news on your engine, I was talking to a guy at a tractor show friday and he said that he pulled a motor out his mack back in the day and replaced it with a 673 diesel, he said it was about 450 cid, and it ran ok when pulled out. I will get on that for you, It still might be sitting in the corner of his shop or something. I am located in South west indiana. Fred

Hey, sign me up for the payments! I would want the 22.5 or 24.5 rims, also I think that the newer tubeless type rims would make more sense. They would look like the originals for "us" and could be a new cool wheel for the guys making a living with their truck too. Plus anything to make my truck ride and drive better (radial tires) would be great! Good Idea! Fred

Hi fireamack the firebody has been cut off right behind the pump, so no rails, but some of the panel stuff is there, if you could decribe to me what you need It might be there. Whats wrong with your engine that you are looking for another? also thanks for the ebay axle spot, I have been looking at that one but I dont have anyone in that area the could hold it for me untill I could get to it. hey, I have a b85f fire truck that I am parting out, maybe someone might need some firetruck stuff that I won't be using on my truck. The pump is still intact and It would pump before I removed the engine. Lots of other odds and ends. let me know if you need anything. The truck is inside out of the weather. Hi, A few people have asked about the unusal "payload" on my trailer in some my pictures of my truck. When I got my truck it was a big day for me and everyone else around, mainly thats all I talked about for weeks. My best friends dad had been a truck driver all his life and was more than happy to tell you good truck driving story, while enjoying a cold beer. I asked him if He would show me how to shift the trans. and he did. After that was all done he joking told his son and me that he wanted to be hauled to the cemetary on" that old mack truck" when it was time. Well we didn't think much about it at the time and of course I agreed. I never realy thought too much about it after that day. I got word from my good friend that his dad had passed away, and that when making arangements that I needed to get ready. Ready for what I asked, he I nformed me that his dad had In with his will writen down what he wanted at his funeral. No suit, no tie, and haul me with "that old mack". So a group of friends and myself cleaned everything up, put a hitch on the truck for the trailer. Worked on the truck all night. Everything went as planed and went without a problem. Everyone that knew Jerry thought that was exactly what he wanted. So. thats the story, I was, and still am, very proud to give a old trucker the last ride home. Fred

Hey guys, thanks for the info!!, put in for vaction and it has been approved so I will be there. As for the Mack, well not this time, going from Indiana to Pa might be a little to much for it right now, It needs alot more work, has a terrible viberation at 45-55. I would say the driveshaft would fall out before I got out of the county LOL. Thanks Fred
