My LFT has an exposed radiator cap. I thought the difference between the LF and LJ was weight rating.

I have a 52 LFT with a pretty rough cab. Is an E cab a fit, or does it need to be an L? My fenders and hood are good, just the back of the cab is pretty well rotted away. Thanks! Corey

I have had an 8 volt battery in my wd45 for at least 20 years. I just recently got an 8 volt charger (antique). Before that, I used a 12 volt charger on low for an hour, then would let it rest for a couple of hours, and repeat. This is how the guy at the battery factory told me how to do it. Always worked fine and never fried a battery.

Hi all- I have a1936 Farmers Co-Op tractor (different than the cockshutt style co-op) and I am in need of a rear wheel. It is a 28" wheel with a retainer ring, like a Dayton style rim. The cast hub clamps inside the wheel. Legend has it that these tractors have a a Dodge truck rear end, so I'm hoping that a truck style wheel will work. Anyone have one they want to part with? The Lanova is a hard starting SOB. If it is below 55, I like to use my heat gun in the intake elbow to help the cause. That makes it start real easy!

In Ohio, it is a crime to sell a vehicle without a title. Not sure about Michigan. Perhaps you can contact the prosecutor up there and see if they can "motivate" the seller to get you the title?

My LFT has a "burner" setup on the intake elbow, but it uses diesel and a coil, not ether. I don't have the pump for it, though...

How do you figure that Cheny was basically in charge on 9/11? If you're suggesting that a vice president is basically in charge, then with our current administration, we are much worse off than I initially perceived...

I load rubber tire tractors and backhoes on my gooseneck regularly with no problem. Just have to be careful and take your time. Make sure the weight rating of your trailer can handle it. One trick I use is to back the trailer into a swail to get it lower to the ground. As we all know, a few extra inches can make a big difference!

Don't forget to check the gvw of the wife!

The brake lights on my LFT have stopped working, but the turn signals and running lights are fine. I suspect the air operated switch is the culprit. Does anyone know where that switch is located? Thanks, Corey

Growing up on a farm, i had the good fortune of field training at an early age, which ultimately allowed me to grandfather in for the CDL. Having worked as a CDL instructor and examiner in a past life, I can tell you tat most trucking schools are a waste of money. Get the book, study it, and learn the test game. The dirty secret about the CDL test is that you are allowed to miss 20% of the test and still pass. The trick is to learn your weak spots and use your points on those. Learn and be able to recite the pretrip inspection and you'll be ahead of 75% of the test takers. Good luck! Corey

I know this is an almost impossible question to answer without seeing the truck and I understand that something is only worth what someone will pay for it, but I need to try to come up with a fairly accurate for my 1952 LFT for insurance purposes. At first I thought, in its current condition, that it was worth, for insurance purposes, $3500.00, at most. But once I start thinking of 6 new tire, two new wheels, $200/ton scrap, etc., I start to think that $3,500.00 wouldn't replace what I have. I have pictures posted in my avatar, but am having trouble posting more from my iPAD. In essence, it is a running, driving truck with the Lanova diesel and a rusty cab. The frame is good,the tires are new, and it needs a lot of work. Any input? Thanks, Corey

Pawel, I took no disrespect from your post; in fact, I'm glad you wrote it. I certainly believe that discourse and communication will yield the best possible result in a democracy. That's the whole problem, though, we don't really have any of that between the VOTERS in the USA. What we have is a bunch of rehtoric from the liberal-biased main-stream media and a bigger bunch of people who are too lazy to seek the truth and work together to arrive at the best possible solution. America was founded, in part, on the principle of individualism and that focus has contributed greatly to the continued success of our country. However, in the last couple of decades, the paradigm has shifted from a focus on individual accountibility to a focus on the "collectiive good." It used to be that you worked hard for you and your family and if a friend or neighbor was down on his luck, everybody pitched in to give him a hand. Now, the mantra (especially from the Democrats- but the Republicans are guilty of this, too) is that everyone who is stupid enough to work (in reality, everyone who has a work ethic) can pay for those who don't want to, for the collective good. Now, when a neighbor needs help, your are forced to give him a hand out. Sounds a lot like that communism you mentioned earlier, doesn't it? So, getting back to the issue you reference about communication: Using the above scenario, one would think that when less than 40% of the population is supporting everyone, a situation exists that mathematically cannot endure. Something that would be good to discuss, right? Sorry, the liberals and their media say no can do. If you suggest that people actually work for their money, the libs jump and scream and say you are evil. See, that's the irony of communication here- the libs are all for diversity of opinion, as long as it comports with their opinion- which brings us full circle to the religion issue. Sorry for the rambling rant. Pawel, I appreciate your participation and opinion. I wish more US voters cared as much! In closing, let me caution you to be very wary of the news you hear from the American main stream media. Pawel, I thank you for your comment and do genuinely understand your position; in general, we all do well when we conside other perspectives and traditions. With that in mind, please allow me to respectfully differentiate the US Pledge of Allegiance from the communist Russia and Nazi Germany references made above. As you are likely aware, the representative democracy form of government employed in the United States has been, historically, the most successful and longest lasting form of government in the world. This is due to the very simple fact that we pledge our allegiance to the ideals of liberty and justice for all- not to a leader or party. In reality, our pledge is to preserve individual freedom and God-given rights, not the preservation or furtherance of any other specific party, person, or ideal. The beginning of this thread references the thinking of a small minority of US citizens who believe that the Constitution provides that there should be no reference of any religion in government. Of course, this opinion is one interpretation of our Constitution, albeit not mine. I believe that the authors of our Constitution very much contemplated keeping God and the Judeo-Christian code of ethics and morals as part of our government. I doubt any of us would argue that we would all be better off if these values were maintained. It is, indeed, a sad commentary on our media AND the apathetic population who blindly follow them, to believe that the majority of our people believe that we should separate all references of God, religion, morals, and ethics from government. Hopefully, one day soon, people will start to care enough to become educated and participate in their government instead of just accepting what comes their way. I fear that, sometime in the very near future, if that doesn't occur, the reference I made earlier about the successful duration of our form of government may become another casualty in the revisionist history book.
