  1. As I remember, 1/8 in was about right for toe-in. I think MidniteMechanic is right! Packer
  2. Hey! If any one following this thread, or any one who knows someone following this thread, has a Jake rocker arm assembly (just need one) or the base only for a Jake brake, please let me know. I bought a Jake set-up for a 673/237 two valve and only got one 'Correct' rocker arm base. Didn't know I had the odd one until too late, and now I'm on the look-out for one. I do have a Dynatard to part with if anyone is looking for one. Thanks, Packer
  3. The power divider locks up the diff's so that one wheel on each axle will turn. With-out locking, NORMALLY, one wheel of four will turn. The power divider is a differental in and of it's self. Locking in the power divider takes that differental out of play. It's like four wheel drive. One axle or two but instead of a manual shift, you use air.
  4. I had the "No Title" issue with my 'E'. Took about 45 days. 30 days of 'storage' and two weeks of passing paper. Cost $125.00 in fees, taxes, and title. Not bad and the title is clear. Packer
  5. It's about time we got someone close to Speed and myself. Them East coast guys are great but the west needs to gather up a few more Mack trucks, just to keep the balance! Packer Green River, WY
  6. The one thing I remember from my days at Mack Truck (late '70's) was that the lines were 'EXACTLY' the same distance from end-to-end. The fuel injection timing is based on pump to injector nozzle distance plus offset from TDC, and if the lines are not the same, the firing timing is different for each cylinder. This will result in low power and/or high exaust temps, and higher fuel use. Do-it-yourself is good but this may be one place to buy from the builder. After all, how many times will you do this? Those lines are 40 plus years old and even though they look bad, there might be 40 more years left in them! Packer
  7. Or bar the engine over using the flywheel teeth? Cummins engines were turned that way in the past, and there was a special tool that was bolted to the bellhousing and was a one hand operation. Packer
  8. I've got a truck that I would part with. Cab is OK but no prize. Two axle and front brakes. No engine or trans (or much else) but the price will be right! Packer
  9. Go to oldmacksrus.com Tom did a hell of a job getting all this info in one pile! Packer
  10. I have a cab that might work for you. I got too many and this one just might be free to a good home. But - - - I still need some parts off of it and it is in Colorado right now, and will be back in Wyoming in the next 2-3 weeks. This will be cab and frame no fenders and not much else! Packer
  11. It will tow much easier if you pull the axles. You won't be running through any gear boxes, and you won't have to run the engine. Packer
  12. Transportation might be an issue but I'm in the market for a gear ratio in that range for a B-61. Packer
  13. Berry, Any luck on these yet? I picked up a fiberglass from you but S.S. is still the way to go. Packer
  14. Hey Guys, Been doing some looking and can't find the numbers for the 'B's' colors Red is the one I'm after right now but Blue and Green would be nice to have for later. Was Yellow a Mack color? I've got a '65 'B' with yellow paint but don't know if that is a company color or Macks. Thanks, Packer
  15. Sorry, no 'L' parts. Looking for 4: XX or 5:XX Packer
  16. Wait!!! What is the gear ratio in the Diffs? Packer
  17. Noid93, Back in the '60s and '70s, Consolidated Freightways ran two axle short COE. These trucks ran a 6 speed only and were powered by both Cummins and Detroit engines. They were used to pull doubles. At the time, the thought was that every gear box cost 25 hp and by droping off one transmission and one drive axle, they 'picked up' 50 horses! There was also a fuel savings. In real life, the Detroits were splitting in half, the Cummins pulled sleaves and fuel milage was the pits. (Maxidynes would have been the ticket) I'm sure some pencil pusher came up with the idea, but I'm also sure that there is some truth about HP loss in gear cases. Packer
  18. Another thought - - - anticipate and stay ahead of the truck/transmission/road. If it looks like you need one more gear, you might already be too late! Packer
  19. Try skipping a gear; 3 lo to 2 direct, for example. This gives you a 300 RPM range to find the hole. Another option is to start the shift at 2000 RPM instead of 1900 Rpm. And if the hill is steep, it won't make a nickles worth of differance if you split both boxes or take a full gear in the main. Bottom line is do what it takes to keep the wheels rolling and not have to start on a hill. That's very hard on drive trains. Packer
  20. How is it? I hope you are Happy with the truck (and I didn't tell any lies) Packer
  21. I got one that might work. The headlight part is waiting for a box to send to Lmackattack. zbender is not perfect but is still useful to some one. Got a stress fracture and some rust but only minor pitting. Nothing that can't be repaired. Packer
  22. I've seen the truck and the body looked 'VERY' GOOD. As I remember, the drive train (engine and transmission) were out of it. Ed seemed to be a real nice guy. I'm not sure but I think Carl Cook needed a transmission from him and I took it to PA. Packer
  23. The picture on the Left is just before I moved "Aunt Bea" from her home for the last 8 years. New plugs, wires, carb kit, oil, coolant, top and bottom hoses and batteries and I was on my way! Took two or three week-ends then I cranked it up and drove it 43 miles home!!!! Life is good!!!! Packer
  24. Would you be getting this from Ed P.??? Packer
  25. A guy goes into the hardware store and buys 5 hammers. A week later he's back in and buys 8 hammers. The clerk asks him what he is doing with all the hammers. " I'm selling them" was the answer. "How much are you selling them for?" Askes the clerk. "I'm getting $6.00 each" "But you're paying $8.00 for them - - - you are loosing money!"Advises the clerk. "Ya, I am, but it sure beats trucking!!!! (farming, auto repair, construction, etc.) Packer
