  1. A Mack T2090 has a first gear ratio of 10.69 and an overdrive of .71.For the work you do I would want the 4.64 ratio. It gives a little better reduction when in soft material.10.69 is not very low reduction when loaded for startability or gradability in off road conditions. I personally would loose a few MPH top speed for better reduction. I run a Fuller 16908LL with 14.56 first gear and .74 overdrive with 4.56 rear axle ratio 24.5 tall rubber. It tops out at over 75 MPH which is more than enough for me. My combination has a total reduction of 66.39 which is ok for my work but if in soft clay is questionable. Reduction is the key. Good Luck Joe D.
  2. Good deal from the Mrs. Mark. Joe D.

  6. It was -7 in Lake Ariel,Pa. last night it is 5 above now. We had a lot of wind last night. We do not usually get strong winds like that. I hope you do not have to roll out your rags in this weather. I never did much flatbed work. I did not like tarping. Joe D.

  11. As DCR said contact a local sawmill. There are plenty in Northeast Pa. and the southern Tier of N.Y. Oak is plentiful in our area also. Sawmills i have done business with Brojack Scott Twp.Pa,or Brojack Clifford,Pa. are within 1 hour or lees from Binghamton,N.Y.They will rough cut or finish cut whatever you choose. There are others closer Ordie Price near Gibson. And many others. Joe D.
  12. No doubt it is an E-Model. Being the standard E and A Model cab was much narrower than the body installed on chassis they would have to use either a large one piece ot the split windshield. Only other option would be to taper body in at windshield. Nice looking truck. Joe D.

  19. John C I have a 1950 Mack A-51T it was built with the Mack 510 Diesel I plan to replace the 510 with a C-180 Cummins as I have a good running one and they are from same era. Parts for the 510 Diesel are hard to find. The higher the number = higher weight rating. A-55 was the largest A-Model built it came with the 672 Lanova Mack Diesel maybe the 743 Cummins of the era not sure on that. Its hood was longer than the A-50 Series.I always heard the saying about A-Models Too light for heavy work and too heavy for light work. I do not believe it but the A-Model is stuck with it. They are a nice looking truck. Joe D.
  20. Picture you posted looks to be an A-20 or A-30. Joe D.

  23. Hello Underdog This Joe D. I talked to you at the Labor Day ATCA Show Harford,Pa. You probably have the nicest original F-Model tin wise on the East Coast. Joe D.
  24. The easiest way to tell difference between Detroit Diesel 53 Series or a 71 Series is the 53 series valve cover mounts to head around bottom of valve cover with bolts and a 71 series mounts to head thru top of valve cover.71 and 92 series valve covers are interchangeable. The newer style cast aluminum are much better than the pressed steel ones for making a tighter seal to stop oil leaks. Joe D.
