  1. David you nailed it. LOL. Joe D.
  2. Hi Jerry not much I started to clean frame and took interior out.I have been pretty busy with work. Joe D.
  3. Not to keep beating a dead horse but look where the hood latches are on the yellow DM 600 are about 2 feet apart on the red one in question close to 4 feet apart. I still think they started with a DM 600 truck or title that was heavily modified on the tin. That's my story and I'M sticking to it.A 12 Banger is pretty long and wide to fit in most any truck without a doghouse and raised cab like the red one was. Joe D.
  4. Steamtown National Train Museum is in Scranton,Penna. about 75 miles north of Macungie. Also in Scranton a Hard Coal Mine (Anthracite) at McDade Park. You go down the mine in a mine car. If never in a deep coal mine it is quite the experience.Joe D.
  5. I think suspension is Reyco 101 or 102.Not a bad suspension for over the road its lighter than walking beam or Camelback but not good for off road as it does not articulate well. Joe D.
  6. ATCA Show Macungie, Penna. is a good show it is Fathers Day weekend in June.Joe D.
  7. Nice find it looks like 413 Flathead with twin aces. Joe D.
  8. I do not think 600 or 800 hood too long for 600 and too short for 800 no set back axle. Hood latches look about right size for a 600 series with off set cab.Just my opinion. It is different for sure. Joe D.
  9. Well said David. None of the above for me. Joe D.
  10. Tim I read where Pike Vermont is owned by Old Castle Materials from Ireland. I have a tri-axle dump on with Pennsy Supply, pittston,Penna. It is also part of the Oldcastle group.I have been working with them about 10 years now. Their money is always on time with no long wait. That's a bonus in this business as some companies I worked for you have to wait up to 6 months to get paid. They also have some Wirtgen Millers in Pittston and Dorrance,Pa.We are also about finished with hotrocks for the year just have to finish up some small jobs.I have been with the milling crew the last 4 or 5 weeks every day small roads and alleys.Joe D.
  11. That's a good looking Pup. Joe D.
  12. A standard B-61T weighs 9925 no fuel. Joe D.
  13. Looks good. The Penna. Turnpike had many of them in years past. The one Tim is looking at has good specs, the Turnpike ones had the Scania Engine. There is still one at the Quarry I work at Pennsy Supply Pittston,Pa. They use it to salt the main road and plow.Joe D.
  14. It was a great event. Mack really went all out to make it interesting. Joe D.
  15. It sounds more like a 8V-71 than a 6-71 to me. trans looks like a old style double overdrive 13 speed by the gear pattern he used. Nice truck .A bit scratchy on the gear selection though. Joe D.
  16. If you have a trans. PTO with the 6 speed you put the compound in neutral and use the main in any gear. I used second or third for dump work with the % rate of my PTO pump. If you use compound in low range until you shift to 5th gear there is a very large spread in speed. Joe D.
  17. If it is a 6 speed 2 stick to start out on hard surfaces loaded start out in first in main and compound in direct. If in soft material or other bad conditions put main in direct and compound in low either first gear or reverse. It has 6 speeds forward and 5 reverse. There were some overdrive versions but all I ever saw or owned were direct in fifth. This trans was not designed to split gears like a du-plex,tri-plex or quadbox. You could shift gears in reverse while moving. It was a great trans but if you had 4.64 rear ratio it was a bit slow in direct drive version. Joe D.
  18. A nice example of a fairly small production truck. Joe D.
  19. Alex g Mack produced some B-Models with the same set-up a driveshaft for each rear.Nice pictures of old iron. Joe D.
  20. I know its 8 months away but. If you go to Macungie at Matt Phal's trailer there is a box full of them along with glitter shift knobs. The extensions were very reasonable. Joe D.
  21. Dan about the V-12 Detroit on page 279 of Fred Crimson's Book International Trucks there is a picture of a 1956 HighBinder Model # RDFC-402 with a factory V-12 Detroit in it. It says 10 were built for Haliburton. On your new acquisition how did you find 2 of them ? There were not many if any in my area that I recall seeing thru the years. It certainly was a nice find and looks solid. Joe D.
  22. Dan the Highbinder sleeper is a beauty. What engine trans ? Joe D.
  23. Ernie I read some articles about the set-up you mentioned being used in Europe. They said it worked well for them. Are you considering a tag or pusher ? I run a tri-axle dump with a steerable pusher,I like it when you shift to reverse it lifts automatically. If you coast back in reverse with pusher down it will turn sideways and bulldoze until lifted. I do not know if you could run 2 tires on a steerable axle. I never saw a steerable with 2 tires on it. I do run 315 R22.5 on my steerable they are rated for over 9000 lbs each.I have full lockers in my truck so I would think if you put lockers in it and lift tag or pusher it would do pretty good in snow.Joe D.
  24. I wonder why the 10R22.5 tires instead of the standard 11R22.5 ? Nice F-Model compared to most in the Northeast anyway.Different engine drivetrain setup with the 673 and 15 speed. Joe D.
  25. I stopped there last winter to look at a Diamond T Integral Sleeper was very rough. Most of the B-Models were rough that I saw except for one B-Model gaspot with a Quadbox . I think it was a mixer in prior life.Loyd was a nice guy though. Joe D.
