  1. Olive I think I paid in the $35.00-$40.00 range about 5 years ago. I buy quite afew truck books but none has ever matched this one. If you like IH Trucks it is a must have. I like Mack and brockway but I do not think any manufacturer made a more complete line of trucks than IH. IH were priced like Ford,Dodge or GMC but I found thru the years that Ih went a little further to get parts and service. At least this was what I expeerienced in Scranton,Penna. area. I have a IH V 190 and Fleetstar 2000D the parts man looked in books ( not computer ) to find some parts for me. We run a 2007 IH 9900 and a 2005 Western Star when we need work done its off to IH for us. Joe D.
  2. Bob info I have is B-43 came withEND 673 with HP of 150 or 154 same cab as B-61 which was the most common cab.Made from 54-65. 1,841 made in S,RS,X,RX,XE,LT.
  3. Vision good story. Nice buy on the H-Model. Joe D.
  4. Nice picture Vlad as Ernie said Federal Cab maybe grill looks somewhat Federal. Brockway's and GMC'S are among my favorites. I like them all. Joe D.
  5. Paul my first antique truck was B-67 that I still have. My big problem is I like and want every old truck I see Illusions of Grandeur. You are correct about IH making so many models and variations of trucks in bygone days. If you want an interseting book about IH read Fred Crimson's book on IH every model of IH from Hi Wheelers to about 1978. The most complete book on trucks I ever had. There has to be a few thousand pictures with explanations. Joe D..
  6. The main difference between the R and V Model Ih is the R was avaible with inline 6 up to 501 cu.in. I think and also offered J and then C series Cummins Diesels, other inline Cummins Diesels offered i latere years were 743 and 855's. The V Models only offered V 8 gas engines I think no diesel option that I am aware of. Both used the Comfo-Vision cab. Some of the big R models offered had 55,000 lb. suspensions in I think R-230 models. Joe D.
  7. How come the whole world gets it but American Voters do not. I hope the second time we do. Joe D.
  8. Good deal Mike on both counts. Joe D.
  9. Carolina Freight Carriers and some other carriers had B-67'S with cast radiator and Fuller Roadranger trans. The reason I was told was bigger radiator for more cooling. Joe D.
  10. Fuel filters are canister type from factory, not spin ons.Not being smart just in case you did not realize it. Joe D.
  11. Thanks for the well wishes. Joe D.
  12. Ilive in Northeastern Pa. The last few years we had plenty of work in the gas fields until about November 2011. Work in the gas fields slowed down considerably. Most of the water trucks people bought for fracking are sitting idle or barely used. Same for all the dump truck work there was it slowed down also. I am pretty lucky as the quarry and hot rock plant where I work out of.has other work to keep me busy. I do not understand why people are mesmerised by this administration. Change cannot come soon enough for me. Joe D.
  13. Maddog was it McBride the milk hauler? Joe D.
  14. Certainly looks like a Roadranger to me with the air control. Looks like a 910 not 96 series. Joe D.
  15. Mark As it should be.( Pledge of Allegiance) Joe D.
  16. 400 cars is good number for Cruise in.Joe D.
  17. As was said Brockway used Budd Wheels quite extensively in early years. Torque arms were pretty much standard on Brockways into the 1970'S. We had a new 361 with them and all the other ones I saw had them. That truck has been for sale for at least 2 years that I know of. Joe D.
  18. I live about 15 miles from Scranton. The banana truck was pretty bad after the accident. I never heard any stories that it was saved or rebuilt. Still a ban on trucks over 21,000 lb. going down RT.307 (Moosic Street) sign says 1st low gear. Police do watch it as there is Dunkin Donuts and Chicks Diner on Moosic Street Police Cars are in those establishments day or night. Joe D.
  19. I was pretty lucky with my Daughter. She is married and an elementary school teacher. She tries to be fair about everything but leans to the right like I do. My Son works for TSA in West Palm Beach,Florida. He did have liberal views but has now seen the light and agrees with me on most things. When he was in college he leaned towards liberal but has come around nicely to the right. A few years in big cities he understands what I was saying all these years. My Wife still tries to believe the liberal BS. but now sees and understands what I was preaching. There is no free ride. I never understood why she felt that way as her Father worked in the coal mines and she always worked for what she wanted. She went back to school to be a Registered Nurse after we were married close to 20 years now 35 years married. Good Luck to all. Joe D.
  20. Mike good buy on the G-Model. I enjoyed the tour with you and Mikey. It would have been nice to bring the G to Macungie. There are quite a few shows in the Northeast that have a good turnout.Nice timing on getting truck back in short order.Joe D.
  21. That diagram could be of the deep reduction tri-plex (18.+) low gear.Tri-plex's usually have a low gear of 8.+ or - I think it was avaible in B-57'S definitely not a standard tri-plex trans. ratioes. Mack put a lot of money into research and development in their hayday. In my opinion a small group of people with influence and money are the ruination of trucking and other industries in this country. Joe D.
  22. It has a V-12 Cummins. Daryll said 900 HP ? Joe D.
  23. Vinny you are right. "Spoke Wheels Rule" next to Hot Momma. Joe D.
  24. If you can find an old aluminum framed truck you could use the frames for ramps. I saw that done before. I do not know what weight they will support though. Joe D.
  25. I never ran a gas engined truck much for profit. My Father ran GMC and Dodge gas engines until mid 1960'S with pretty good service. He did prefer the Dodge engines though. I have a 549 IH,386 White,477 Ford and 440 REO gas engines in some old trucks. I started driving commercially in 1972 so I was at the end of the gas era in my area. There were still a lot of steel haulers with gaspots from Pittsburg and Ohio. Joe D.
