Whats Your Favorite Type Of Track Loader
Olivetroad replied to Jocko's topic in Tractors and Equipment
We also have a need sometimes around here for a few more head of Timothys. But not the red headed smart alec ones, they do not sell as well once you fatten them up. They always are trying to get in with the cows, taking too long on restroom breaks, and they tend to go off feed when you make them ride in a cattle pot pulled by a peterbilt -
Frankenstein B model

I ended up using DAB transport out of Odessa. They haul a lot of stuff in for me from J.J.Kane auctions and they were coming right by the guys place with the Mack running empty to go get that Windrow elevator (why did I capitalize that?) so they grabbed the Mack and brought it along. The only trouble we had was that the brain surgeons at the auction yard pulled the elevator under a low overhang on a building and broke the exhaust off. And it broke at the casting coming out of the turbo of course. I bet Moses my Amish buddy has the part. Charles (Bigen) and I have tried to get it to work for him to haul it, but our schedules have not matched up. -

Whats Your Favorite Type Of Track Loader

Missouri has about the highest concentration of track loaders in use for just that purpose. If you talk to a auction yard guy or a Cat salesman they will tell you the same thing. I don't know why that is, but that is how most basements are dug around here. Note I said basement and not cellar. A cellar around here is a place you keep your homemade wine, sometimes hidden under a shed/barn. A basement in the large excavated area under your house. -
Oh, sorry - I promise to hold similar posts until the weekend from now on - not.

There still are a lot of them around here for only being made 5 years -
Hey! Congratulations on that truck - I think I looked at it on the other side of the state! Post some more photos as you move along with it if you can - we live in the SHOW ME state you know!

I had one done (on a lot older truck) a few years ago and the shop charged me $1000.00 plus parts like air line fittings, wireing, etc. I watched them do a lot of it and that gave me the confidence to do it myself from then on - there is nothing magical required. The owner of the welding shop told me the other day the worst thing he did was let me in his shop, I took one look around at the quality of employee and all of a sudden I did not need him anymore! Do you have any pictures of your 4400? I bought a bunch of those four door versions from a mobile home moving company that did not weather 2008. They sold like hotcakes for gooseneck pullers. They were all different wheel bases, but I just had a truck bed manufacturer make me beds to fit. We mounted fifth wheels on the back of some and just gooseneck balls on others. The long wheel base ones just had a longer bed space in front of the ball - guys ended up likeing them better - you could haul items on the bed and still pull a trailer - as long as you can make the turns you need to with the longer frame. They just were more versatile, you could use them like a tractor or a straight truck. Good luck with your purchase - post a picture (even of a IHC) if you can.

I really hate it when folks call any roller a steam roller. If it is run off steam, it is a steam roller. Anything else is just a roller. That is a steam roller! Looks like something from England for some reason.

Oh - By the way Vinny - That is frigging COOL that you get to start up the U model! Let us all know how it goes. -
That is what most guys are after, Miss Caldwell, she is the one with the one ton capacity!

I was headed to Chicago a few years ago with my blushing bride - for once she was willing to ride with me on one of my auction trips. We were crusing right along in a 1995 Ford F700 with a 24 foot box on the back. I heard a loud popping sound, but everything seemed fine. I turned up the radio and kept going. We went another 5 miles or so and saw a sign for those golden arches - I did not want to eat that stuff, but they put some kind of drug in there that makes you want it. I went down the ramp, and no one was coming, so I kind of rolled through it, and pulled into Mcdonalds. I stopped to let some old lady pull out and when I started to move, it would not steer. I got out and looked and one wheel was headed west, and one was headed east. I forced it forward to the back of the lot, and I left a big rubber stripe on the pavement. I had a tie rod end come completely off. It must have been when I heard that bang sound. I was able to get the guy that owns the land around the McDonalds to give me a ride up the road and I bought a new tie rod end and with his screwdriver and a 1920's monkey wrench, I got her going again. If I had stopped like a good boy at the bottom of the ramp, I would have been done right there. I was all proud of the fact that I fixed it myself and we only lost a couple of hours, but she did not share the joy. Now that I think about it, that was the last time she went with me on one of those trips.

Still skinny aren't they!
-
Vinny - Those are her boobs - for future reference, you want those fat.
-
Do you see any fat people in the photos? NO! We are beginning to narrow down the start of the fatness.

HOLY CRAP

Vinny - The sin comes from within - your intention was to curse - you just tried to smooth it over by saying "crap" and "flipping". I come from a long line of Ivory soap eaters - my kids are continuing the legacy -
WHAT? No photos?

Looky, looky what I found: It is the same as the photo you sent me of the one on ebay - I can't seem to find that either! It is one ton capacity, 10 feet long, and the hooks are small, but they are Crosbys. The photo angle makes it look off center, but it is not - I look off center a lot as well. Send me a PM if you are still interested..............

Frankenstein B model
Olivetroad replied to Olivetroad's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
I am gaining all kinds of info already! Thanks! I want to get it running so my fine boys can all learn how to shift a truck with more than one stick for the trans. (not that I am an expert!) That will give them braggin' rights with their buddies: "Whatcha got in there? An automatic you say? - hell, I drive trucks with TWO sticks!" -

Frankenstein B model
Olivetroad posted a topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Here are sum some pics photos of a goofy looking B model I bought out of Kansas. We hauled it in along with a 17,600 pound asphalt windrow elevator I bought at an auction that was on the way home. We had a little fun getting it off. 1. pull crane truck out of mud to pick up front of elevator - I think the Ford was just intimidated by the mighty Mack! 2. Pick up on elevator while we pull it forward with dump truck - poor little Freightshaker getting replaced by one 50 years older! 3. Got it off - time for the Mack to roll (roll is all it will do - no batteries, no brakes) 4. Time for hired man Joe to rest - he has been busy wasting my time talking on his phone....... 5. Here she is in all her uglyness glory Crazy looking roof - it was a crane carrier to start out in life I think it had an access hole out the back when it was a crane - nothing a 3/16 sheet of steel won't cover up! Photo of sunvisor with a damn good lookin' farmer in the reflection It has recent tires - still good tread, springs look okay 15 speed transmission Engine looks good for age The stuffing for the seats is all still in the cab, just not still in the seats: He had good taste in farm equipment: The box is pretty straight I am off to dig a couple of batteries up and see if it will turn over Look at that push bumper - I can push those old cows out of the way now To be continued ..............when I get time to see if I can make it come alive like the Frankenstein monster that it is. Do I have to wait for a lightning storm?
