  1. This is just one of the reasons why we homeschool our kiddos.
  2. This truck is for sale on ebay under farm equipment - I do not know why it is there, but I thought it might not have been noticed so here it is: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1972-Mack-Fire-Truck-Fully-Operational-/220951845433?pt=Ultility_Vehicles&hash=item3371c19a39 I see the reserve has been met so it will have a new owner
  3. I want a photo to prove you know what you are talking about - sounds good, but this is the show-me state
  4. I have never had that many - that's a hoot!
  5. Okay - sorry to ask - but what are pierogies?
  6. Check out this DM on ebay and note the wrecker hiding in the background of one pic: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260956687199&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3ASS%3AUS%3A1123
  7. Happy Birthday both of you ! Barry, Tim, and Jimmy Hoffa all born on the same day - what a trucking trio!
  8. I bet that is better than a new one - that thing is beautiful!
  9. We had a flatbed with a knuckleboom attached to it that we could snap into the fifth wheel on a tractor. We were hauling junk presses out of a factory and we would park the trailer, attach the flatbed/crane and go into the building and load a press on the back and take it out and load on the trailer. It worked pretty good. But then someone offered me a good price for it and I sold it. I always sell the good things and keep the crap that doesn't work!
  10. I live about four hours northeast of Joplin, right in the center of the state. I was supposed to be back down there tomorrow but the union guys at the power plant refuse to load anything if there is a smell of weather. Have you eaten at Lambert's Cafe yet? They are the home of "Throwed rolls". If you come out of that place hungry, you have something wrong with you. They are south of Springfield on highway 65 before you get to Branson. Worth the trip if you are going to be down there a few days.
  11. I have been through there five times in the last two weeks hauling surplus utility equipment out of Joplin. Just like the ugly girl after the dance, I never get a call when you are in town...............
  12. It does seem like Napa is hit and miss depending on the store. We have a great locally owned Napa that is in kind of a hole in the wall place, but it has been owned by the same family for 75 years. They are just great to deal with - they stock the parts that you actually need, and get anything else in overnight. They have a complete machine shop that does good work, and have the best selection of hydraulic fittings around. But I have heard rumors that the corp. offices of Napa are trying to buy out the store - you know what will happen then - they will build a new store along the highway, that is real well lit up inside with all kinds of neon signs and crap, but they won't stock the stuff that the farm folks around here really need.
  13. I don't have any of them any more, but in the past I have owned several of those trucks. We would flip the front axle upside down and add floater tires on the back to use them as sprayer trucks. One thing I found is that Ford made very, very few changes over the years to the cab. I had one from the sixties and one from the late 80's parked side by side one time and you could not find a difference in the cabs, even the gauges were the same. So if have to go the junk yard route to get parts, at least you are not looking for a particular year.
  14. It already is bringing more on Ebay with no crane or bed on it that it did with all the goodies still installed - here is a link to the ebay listing: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/?cmd=ViewItem&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649&item=330685379883&sspagename=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT
  15. David - I saw that this morning - it's in Missouri -- not only will it not drive over the cinderblock with that front bumper, but you better move some of the larger pieces of gravel as well
  16. That is a new one on me - what did they use it for - a dance platform? Oh wait, that was Soul Train.
  17. I love smashing cars - I don't care what brand you try, cars stink to drive once you drive a Mack - no power, ass feels like its draggin', you just feel like a bug waiting to get squashed.
  18. My blushing bride had a cream colored pinto - she was a car head hottie in that thing in the 80's. She was all proud of it and loaded up four friends and tried to take them to the McDonalds which here in rootin' tootin' Fulton, Missouri is on the only steep hill in town. She made it halfway up the hill and had to back down - ran out of power - fine piece of American automobile............not
  19. One of these came down the lane at the auto auction a couple of weeks ago - I tried to raise the hood - the whole thing is plastic and just lifts off and you lay it down on the ground - what a piece of *&%$.
  20. That looks like fun just waiting to happen! We don't get enough snow here to justify having one. But we travel up north every few years just to do some sled riding - thanks for the pictures!
  21. Chuck - That is the exact brand I am close to buying. And I need it to use on the same thing - boom pins, seized outrigger pins, four inch thick turrent bases and so on. Thanks for the input.
  22. I am really pleased I still have both my balls. That way I know when I have a fever by the splash they make when I sit on the john.
