  1. I just went thru a similar situation on my B...died while running...thought it needed new filters....new ones did not help, ended up with a new pump, took a LONG time to get the air out of the system! Even with the new pump it would not self prime out of a bucket! I blew air (light pressure) into the tank until I had fuel at the pump...still didnt get it! I must not have gotten the pump full! Long story short, I made a funnel/hose setup directly into the pump and filled it up...fired right up, kept pouring fuel in untill it got warm...shut it down, filled the lines again (blowing air into the tank), hooked everything back up and has been runing great since! If you try this, only put 5 or so pounds of air in the the fuel tank...I used a blow down tip cupped my hand to regulate the pressurization of the tank... If I ever did it again, I would take the line after the secondary filter (at the pump) and fill the system up with air in the tank...air in the system made mine very hard to start!
  2. She can do my puff test!!!!
  3. I am sure I have heard that explanation somewhere before.....hmmmmmmmmmm
  4. Does anyone have any more pictures of this truck? I really like the custom exhaust mounts...would like to see how it looks from behind...
  5. They dont have any trailers sitting around for sale do they?
  6. Nice! WHERE are you going to put them!
  7. It belongs to my "buddy" (aquaintance really) Tim...it is in damn good shape, but he wont sell, his plan is to take the dump bed off of the international and put on it...he has lots of projects, I have volunteered to help him work on it! Just needs batteries, forgot when the last time it ran... I stop in to chat when I see him there at his garage...I am about a half mile away...
  8. Just looked up the Stemco Part number, pin is 7.4 inches...hmmmmm...dont know why yours would be different, I would have assumed (you know what THAT means) that an FA517 is an FA517!
  9. I put a StemcoKaiser K535M "No ream" kit in my FA517...OEM cross reference was 301SQ46A
  10. Thanks Mark!
  11. I have heard mention amny times (Macks also) about a set back or set forward axle...why was this done? Weight distribution? Turning radius?
  12. Hadn't been in the B Model for a couple of months, but drive the Superliner every day, well, got the fuel pump fixed and took the B out for an hour or two...the cool factor is still there! Shifting the Triplex is like handling a young, tight bodied, athletic women...shifts are tight, short and click right in, no slop... on the other hand... the 12 speed is like a sloppy ole' lot lizard! Almost a foot of throw, once you get the gear engaged you still have a few more inches to get it "home" They are both GREAT though, and I am fortunate to have both of them...
  13. I got my sandpaper in, did part of one wheel with 400 grit and it looks better already! I will hit it with 800, then wheel polish, will get some pics...
  14. I thought I had a good handle on this subject, and I know it has been beat to death previously, BUT, and I am only talking about PA... From the CDL Drivers manual... The Program requires you to have a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) if you operate, or plan to operate any of the following Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMV’s): a) A combination of vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more, provided the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds. A single vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 26,001 or more pounds. c) A vehicle designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver. d) A school bus designed to carry 11 passengers or more, including the driver. e) Any size vehicle which transports hazardous materials and is required to be placarded in accordance with Department regulations. Exemptions: You do not need a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) to drive military equipment while in military uniform, certain fire and emergency equipment owned by a fire company, or recreational vehicles, implements of husbandry, or certain motorized construction equipment. It does not mention anything about Antique or Classic Trucks. My SuperLiner GVWR is 50,000lbs... I cannot find any law that allows an Antique or Classic registration to be exempt from the above law... Thoughts? Thanks Leslie

  22. Thought I would generate some excitement today by going across a steep curvy mountain closeby...did pretty good...hardly used the brakes, gave the engine brake a good workout! Learned to use the engine brake when I needed a "quick" upshift! Up ahead is the mountain we will cross See the power line...that's where we will cross! Twice! Get to the base, turn right Initial climb...long and straight First cross of the power line Hmmmmmmmm...looks sharp! Switchback! The first of two Second cross...pretty high up now! Switchback on the other side Curves are sharp! Cant imagine dragging a 53 footer across this! Heading back across... WTF! Of course coming up on a blind 90 degree curve
  23. Thanks for all the advice! I have 400 and 800 grit discs on the way! Pictures to come!
