  1. What vendor did you use for the seals...the SKF site (who now owns CR) doesnt list that part number, searching by size (4.875 OD X 2.5 ID) gets nothing
  2. What brand seal is this number? Not having any luck googling it! Thanks
  3. I got two words for them...."shut the f**k up!"
  4. Thanks! I was looking for the seal number! That sounds like exactly what I have...
  5. 1-Low split at 2000 rpm...1.5 mph...black smoke rollin'...I am IN!!
  6. Paul, you had better stay inside tomorrow, just to be sure....
  7. I am in Houston for a few days...will dive back into that when I get back... Frame hs been shortened...
  8. Tell us please that it is a Harley Davidson!
  9. R stand for Road Truck? U for Utility? B for BAD-ASS!!! Sounds right to me...
  10. Last several post are very interesting...WIth the front tires on the rear, absolutley no change in the bounce...I am stil going to remove the left hand drum just so I can say I KNOW it is not the drums or the tires on the front... Anyhow...I took about ten videos today and though the truck is still bouncing, I cannot see it in the video, front or back at all...the rears have never moved...BUT...I took two videos with the camera mounted on the airtank (about mid frame under the battery box) and it looks like the camera was moving up and down, but not the front or rear axles! I was dumbfounded untill I read the last few posts... In the morning I will touch every bolt on all of the crossmembers, and also look for signs of any movement between the crossmembers and frame (if it is flexing, it should leave a mark) Still doesnt explain why it happens at one speed, and exactly twice that speed, and only a range of +- 1 or 2 mph....that is, 22 mph and 44 mph...If I air up the tires to 100 psi, all it does is raise the bounce mph to 25 mph and 50 mph... Thanks for all of the comments! (It takes a community to raise a truck)

Is that Jennifer wit dem banana ti##ies?
  12. The Mack Dealer spin balanced both steers on the truck...on the pass side, there are two pcs of flat steel welded to the back side of the hub presumably for balance... The drum wheel combo (pass side) has a heavy spot, when I took the drum off and mounted just the wheel, there was no heavy spot. When it warms up a little, I will remove the drivers side drum, and swap front rear tire on the passenger side...
  13. Not budds...gonna stay with Daytons as I like the look...once I prove that my bounce issue is not the tires or drums, the only thing to do next is get some wheels...was gonna look at the 4 trucks in the scrap yard in scranton but they are all 20" ...I neeed 22's...
  14. Dammit!...Dammit!...Dammit! Talk about frustrating! I'm in the mood right now to park it and make it a lawn ornament! Swapped the drivers side steer and front rear tire/rim...NO CHANGE AT ALL! Tomorrow I will do the same thing on the other side, and when that doesnt do anything, I will remove the drum on the drivers side, and when that doesnt make any difference, I might drive it off a cliff with me in it! Maybe the SOB is possessed!
  15. Removed the drum on the pass side today, as it was the one that has a heavy spot...with the rim/tire off, that one always rolls heavy side down... Took the drum off, everything "looks" okay...reinstalled the wheel and tire...no change in the bounce! Dammit! Before I pull the other side, I am goin to temporarily put the steers on the back and air them down...if it is a front rim or tire problem, it should be evident,,,
  16. THe manual is the one the Museum put together, it has no date theat I can find...Mine is an FA517...my manual lists all of the FA-500 series as type III
  17. Mine is a Triplex...TRTL...Mine is Direct in 5-D...5H is OD (.85) Here is a chart of some ratios I have gathered...I left out the backwards/too close ones on the trq
  18. According to the service manual I have, all of the FA-5** series axles use the Type III spindle...would it be safe to assume that the wheel hubs from any FA-5** series are interchangeable? That is the bearing sizes, hub length, etc? Thanks
  19. Here is the TP2 style valve...You can also use the trolley valve and double check valve as in the TP3 diagram
  20. Maybe this will help...
  21. The TP-3 valve uses only two lines...the push button on the dash not only charges the trailer, it opens the valve so that the service chambers on the trailer work when you step on the brakes...I dont think you are supposed to use a flip style switch with the TP-3

    Sounds Fun!
  23. Just to rule them out, my next step will be to take the frums off of the front and take it for a ride...Hopefull the bounce will go away...if not I will look for replacement wheels...of course, it is snowing like a ^$^#*#( so I dont know when I can work on it again!
