  1. Go to the wiki section of this site...there is a section on B model front axles...
  2. I hate standing next to thin people! I am big gorilla on the end in the black T-Shirt...
  3. It was great show! Thanks to all the ATCA hard work!
  4. My rear housings are SWD5701, they have maxi brakes. I want to put modern cans on...from what I can see, the mounts for the cans and shaft bolt on to the ends of the housing. Can I simply find a more modern SWD5701 and change the brake mount? Are there other rear housings that will swap, that is, is the bolt pattern standard on similar, but later model axle housings? Thanks
  5. I am quite the quite the dumbass! I have one on the front of my truck! Didbnt think of the block heater connection! Thanks!
  6. Spent a few days on the highway with my family...every modern truck I passed had what looked like a water proof electrical connector in the lower cab under the drivers door...My momma asked what it was, I told her I didnt know, but assumed it my be for a trouble light or for external add on flashers/lights? What are they for? Thanks
  7. I believe I will be there Friday and Saturday! Bringing my daughter...she enjoyed Litiz last year. I bought my truck soon after...she's not yet ready for a 400 mile trip yet, probably make it just fine though!...
  8. I agree with setting septic tanks...they have been in the septic tank service for years in the local area...
  9. Took the ole girl out for a spin today and she led me here, I guess she wanted to hang out...These guys know trucks! I dont know for sure, but I would bet the B-Model was purchased new and is a one owner original truck...interior of cab is perfect!
  10. My truck had a ridiculus bounce around 35 mph...I attributed it to the 10 old different brand tube type tires...so, I bit the bullet and purchased 8 like new and two new front and changed to tubeless, also, 10 brand new accuride rims...I thought I had it beat...till I got to 50 mph...hopped like it did before! It hops at 25-26 mph and 48-50 mph, smooth at other speeds, I know I have one really bad king pin...hoping new king pins will cure the problem, if not, will keep digging! This is not just an annoying hop, or bounce, but feels like the cab will come off! I cannot feel any shake in the steering, but I am hoping it is the worn front end causing it... Does it happening at 25 and at 50 bring any thoughts about cause?
  11. Hook it up! You can't hurt it. If it SUCKS instead of Blows, you know its Positve ground!
  12. The ratios on a TRQ-7220 for example, are such that the ratios are so close together, that shifting would not do much or go backwards... 4-Direct is 1.00 ratio 4-Hi split is .84 ratio 5-Lo split is 1.01 (backwards!) 5-Direct is .84 5-Hi split is .70 So for this trans, you would shift 4-Hi directly to 5-Hi
  13. Well, they were ALL small at one time...still got the job done!
  14. Filled 'er up today...did the calculations and found that I got 7.9 MPG this week! Though I would happily give some of that mileage up to hook about 50K to her and pull it around!
  15. Getting better and better at shifting...can cruise around no more than 1600 (crusing 35-45 on the back roads) shifting up and down with ease (no clutch)... Question is...how in the hell do people shift the main and compound when goin up hill from a start...no matter how fast I shift...by the time the RPM's fall to shift the main, the truck is almost stopped! The old hands must have been masters!
  16. I had no luck finding direct replacements...the threads on one side is fine, the thread on the other side is extra fine...I ended up measureing the dimensions of the part that bolts to the steering arms and buying replacements that fit...in doing that I had to buy a new cross tube to match the rod ends...found all in the the Meritor catalog. Raneys truck parts in florida had what I needed.
  17. Both of my vent windows are broken! Send them to me, I will gladly pay freight!
  18. I was a Cub Scout once?!? Does that count?
  19. My engine is out of a 1973 U model...the oil fill comes up from below the injector pump
  20. Looking at the air piping digram in the service manual and wanted some clarification. It looks like the trailer protection control valve gets its supply from the spring brake valve, so, when you park, do you just pull the spring brake valve to set the truck brakes, and the trailers brakes are set automatically (does the trailers supply "pop" out?)? Or do you pull both valves to individually set the truck and trailer brakes? Thanks
  21. The diffs I have seen have the ratio stamped on the machined plate on the front side as shown below, also, it should read #.##, the ratio with the decimal point, such as 4.42, or 5.73 (like mine!)
  22. Here is where the engine number should be...Left (passenger) side at front of accessory drive case.
  23. Nice LOOOOONG legs! (I need a bigger ladder to get under my hood!
