  1. didnt the B615 come with a V8 it might be for clearance for the V8 to fit.
  2. on the old 237 and 285 i overhauled a few years back i have an OTC liner puller, when i installed them i put them in the deep freeze overnite and dipped 2-3 inches of the sleeve in diesel fuel pushed them in the block put a rag over the sleeve and a short 2X4 lay it flat and tap it the rest of the way in. on taking them out without a puller i herd guys running a weld bead down the sleeve, never tried that but i would cover the crankshaft.
  3. If your rack is stuck take the sidecover off the pump and spray PB blaster all over the springs, cant rember if there is a plug where the pufflimiter is on the later ones i took my plug out stuck a long bolt in there and kept tapping on it keep soaking it with blaster good luck. Ron
  4. fjh i did that and the outer drum has notches on the front on a locker setup and the power divider setup dose not. the early rears had course splines later had fine on the pinion so you would have to get the right one. Ron
  5. You might take those short fuel lines off the pump to filters and see if you can look through them, if they have been on sense new they could be closed up. i had that happen on 2 trucks. Ron
  6. I pulled a transmission this week and the guy i got it from used to run the truck said it was a 10 speed acording to the numbers it is a 7 speed (TRDLG1070) i have a 1979 manual that covers 7-10 speeds. i was wandering if the TRDL1070 and the TRDLG1070 is the same tranmission, the 7 speed has a lockout(it has been disconnected) so you cant split the first 3 gears only 4th & 5th. can you have a 10 speed if you get rid of the lockout. Thanks Ron
  7. you might try(lincolnchrome.com) they had a booth setup last week at the show. Ron
  8. I have a 79 RS600L VIN# RS600LST46151 it has spoke wheels, 3 leaf springs, #38000 REARS. ,2 Stick 6 speed, rear mount PTO. Ron
  9. I will be there fri.-sat. hope to see you guys from indiana. Ron
  10. Larry i slipped a 96 CH613 frame and airride under my B61 no welding slid the frame up to the cab crossmember under the sleeper looks a lot better that way, mine was an 1" difference too. Freightliner airride is cheaper than Mack airride but i wanted to stay with Mack rears, rides alot better bobtailing. Ron
  11. Morgan the last 2-3 years down at Elnora truck show there was a real nice looking gray or green B61 with a sleeper had Freightliner airride look like a good job, you might check it out this fall if he is back. he had it for sale last year. Ron
  12. You might have broken rings, i have heard a small knock in some and a piece of the ring works its way on top of the piston and you have a small knock it dosent take much. Ron
  13. The ETAZ 673 is a 300+ (315)HP the liner kits are the same for 237,285,300,315 maybe the 350 2 valve dont know for sure. when you got a basic engine from MACK you bolted your pump, injectors, turbo on and had the same HP. Ron
  14. You could get a robert bosch pump from a 300 plus(315hp) if you have a 10-13 speed, if you have a 5-6 speed might get the exaust temp too high at low rpm. Ron
  15. I use red and tacky also, for fithwheel i use lucas fithwheel lube it comes in a bottle dosent take much i just use it on the wear spots, dont make a mess.
  16. Chuck i think the first of the 300 series with the tip turbines were 285hp, the charge air coolers were a full 300hp.i think Mack was the first ones to use charge air cooling.
  17. anyone ever heard of a HALLA Excavator,HE220LCE, it has a 6 clyinder cummins,50,000 pounds looks to be a good machine, anyone know where and who makes it. thanks Ron
  18. Pozzo Mack is in Gary,IN. i read in one of the bulldog magazines that it was one of oldest Mack dealers.
  19. Hi Morgan, i have been thinking about calling you. i was at a swapmeet in Indy the last couple months a guy had a few new sets of the old cab lights (KD517) and some others with glass lens i was wandering if you need a set i would pickup a set if you wanted some. Ron
  20. Does the 2004 have more problems than any other year,is a shame that is a good looking truck. hope you get it figgerd out. Ron
  21. Too bad you dont live close to a good Mack mechanic like Theakerstwo, Mackpro68, fjh, i bet they could fix you up. it would almost be worth it to take it to western KY to get it fixed. Ron
  22. It should be just bolt in other than the driveshaft might have to be longer, the shifter, transmission yoke should interchange, get a high-low splitter from an old roadranger.
  23. The "ESI" had two filters 32 quarts, "ESI PLUS" had 3 filters, 54 quarts. i think the old engines were 28 quarts.
