  1. My apologies for not having an open mind. I just can't seem to find the time. Between life and understanding what the negotiations of NAFTA might mean, BREXIT, North Korea, economic issues of South America, Jerusalem, Crimea, ISIS, the tax bill in Washington and the mouse trying to buy a fox, I failed to realize how important the election in Alabama was for some folks.
  2. I always enjoy when a "bomb" question is asked. No follow up questions from the original post. Must be just sitting in front of their computer giggling. I really can't imagine that someone actually living in Nigeria would give a rat's ass as to what an election in Alabama says other than to stir the pot on this forum.
  3. With the truck VIN, a Mack dealer "should" be able to get you the original build info. There are also a tag on the engine and trans which will have info provided there are still there. With some numbers to start with, the rest can be determined.
  4. Lots of miles. Good thing Molly knows how to read a map.
  5. Hunting deer with a fire extinguisher....? Foam them out!
  6. OK Al. First off, when did you learn how to play golf? Secondly, you aren't supposed to take your truck onto the course. That is why they rent you those little carts!
  7. Thanks, I let the camera do the heavy lifting.
  8. OK. Thanks folks. Hmmmm...... FedEx Ground. I better go check the shrubs near the steps.
  9. Has anyone received their replacement? 10-15 business days has gone by for me and the mailbox is still empty.
  10. Everything looks good except the stack flaps. Ta-ting, ta-ting, ta-ting. Easy fix.
  11. The MB-685 with 237 HP Maxidyne power was available from 1969-1978.
  12. Here is a little more info and pics. https://www.bigmacktrucks.com/topic/23938-lj-mack-with-clariben-hood/
  13. Welcome! You can post trucks in this thread or in the "Garage" in the toolbar. https://www.bigmacktrucks.com/topic/1675-calling-all-mack-e-model-owners/
  14. Yeah, the Clariben hood for the LJ was ahhhh...... interesting. The tilt hood did improve access.
  15. My guess would be about 10-12 FH's. Chris or Pat can probably give an exact number.
  16. A couple Superliners on the side of a hill.
  17. "Lighten up Francis" Sgt. Hulka.
  18. I recommend having the wind to your back while using the outside facilities....
  19. From the build sheet there will be a front and rear axle arrangement identification. Example: Front axle FAW 536C 10,500 lbs. Rear axle SWS 56C 34,000 lbs. Example FAW 537C 12,000 lbs SS58C 58,000 lbs. What does your build sheet say for axle arrangements? That will indicate how it was built originally. Things might have been changed on the truck but at the moment, that is unknown. Should be able to narrow this down so you will have some info. The info is stamped on the axles but checking the paperwork is easier to examine first.
  20. It was for everyone. It was a measure to help conserve gasoline and rubber. A lot of the natural rubber supply was now in Japanese or unfriendly control and synthetic rubber hadn't really come onto the scene. Ration fuel and people drove less and with a national speed limit, they had to slow down and the tires didn't get abused and lasted longer.
  21. Looks pretty good then!
  22. In the early 2000's, the frame assemblies arrived at the Macungie plant from DANA. They were finished on line and then hit a booth that sprayed everything black. I would keep the shocks yellow just for fun.
  23. At speed, makes for an interesting whirring sound!
