  1. You saw more than me! I had just barely clicked the picture and a friend stopped me to chat and I never got back around to check it out. Too much to look at Macungie! Here is a tiny bit of info on the Fruehauf Power Transmission Fifth Wheel. After looking at this maintenance nightmare, a transmission mounted PTO pump and some heavy duty hydraulic hoses never looked so good! I applaud inventors because you don't know until you try the idea out.
  2. Log dog dressed to the nines.
  3. Joseph Equipment in NH has owned the yellow Zoppo B-81 for about 20 years.
  4. Nice looking rig! Always tricky giving a price over the phone but your truck appears to be a clean survivor. I would say about $4,500-$5,000 range.
  5. It may have been in OR but it is now in NH.
  6. Here is a picture to continue the above post by Boosted. Photo credit to Mack, A Living Legend of the Highway by John Montville. Page 115.
  7. Small in comparison to today's equipment but a big dog in its day. On display at Macungie 2017.
  8. Happy Birthday!
  9. Pretty much everything is neg. ground these days. I would call the shop where you got the part and ask them to confirm.
  10. Don't have a part #. Even if you had a number, no one would know what to do with it these days. There is special type of DOT teflon hose now so that it can take the heat of the compressed air. Take the old one off and a new one can be made at a good quality truck shop. Take a good look at the copper line also. It may be a wise decision to replace it while you are there. Last time I bought the teflon hose it was $9.00/ft. If everything is is in good shape, the Maxi's would stop the truck at the loss of air. Stay in the driveway until it is repaired.
  11. OD, appears that you had a very good week!
  12. Think it said "Retired from Spicer Truck Service, Nashville, TN" on the door now it is in the Weedsport area. The fronts are Goodyear G395 LHS tires. The rears looked like radials too but I didn't really check.
  13. That could mean a whole lot fewer Big Mac's being sold to owners of Big Macks.
  14. Donaldson and Maradyne made scoops. Maybe others? I believe Donaldson was the Ram Air Moisture Eliminator and are the ones pictured below. I would probably go with satin black. Have fun and go for two!
  15. Some old PPG info indicates their code for 1958 Mack red was 71046. I have no idea if the 71046 would still be a valid number or could be crossed to another manufacturer. Glancing at other year Mack reds show different PPG codes. Just a different number or different mix?
  16. This wrecker would look great in anybody's garage.
  17. The "B" is indeed for the version with the dash mounted air shift switch for the front compound to control low and direct. The one pictured above has a stick for shifting between low and direct. There is an interlock so low can only be used with first gear. The other stick has the Mack Selectair valve for high, direct and reverse. Good transmission. With a few parts, changing some parts and some fab, it can be put into the race truck.
  18. TRTXL1070 transmission cut away display at the Mack Museum.
  19. If that is the case maybe you need to rig up a "two step" for the hauler dog...?
  20. There are folks around here that are still running mid 70's tandem and 80's tri axle dump trucks on a daily basis. Find a good solid truck and you should be able to the same thing as your schedule allows.
  21. Were we missing? Sorry, can't help with the column. Way too new for me. Somebody will be along shortly.
  22. It will be OK once you get out of the parking lot.... Sure makes everybody's day more productive.
  23. You are going to need a bigger parachute....
  24. T-2180 manuals show up on flea bay on a pretty regular basis.
  25. The Mack 25 is a nice little rig!
