  1. Don't have one to weigh. Some info from Mack brochures for examples. CH613 14,300 CV713 15,500
  2. Mack used various prefixes, suffixes and numbers to identify their engines. It does seem that the 673 designation is for a Thermodyne type engine and a narrow power band. The 675 Maxidyne (later also with the 676) introduced in 1966 was the high torque rise engine with its wide power band.
  3. "It's got eight cylinders and uses them all" A line from a cover of "Hot Rod Lincoln" by Commander Cody.
  4. ETZ673 E = Mack Diesel Engine T = Turbocharged Z = Max 10 grams per bhp-hr emissions level
  5. Outside a Mack shop in central New England.
  6. Geeesh, when it rains, it pours! Hopefully will be OK. Certainly appreciate hearing about a potential resolution to the braking issue that may help someone else down the road.
  7. I would think so but the guy stamping that shift could have been bored or feeling lazy or ???
  8. Happy Birthday!
  9. Mack Thermodyne Turbo 673 225 HP with 650 Torque.
  10. In lieu of pictures or some numbers to identify the box, how bad is it leaking? Pouring out or just weeping? Work or hobby truck? If it is a hobby truck or just weeping, drain what is left of the fluid and then fill the steering box with John Deere corn head grease. Corn head grease is soft enough (NLGI 0) to use in a steering box but is typically thick enough not to leak out. https://www.greenpartstore.com/John-Deere-Special-Purpose-Corn-Head-Gun-Grease-AN102562.html
  11. Matt, you will be driving your own in pretty short order!

https://www.macktruckshistoricalmuseum.org/ The Mack Historical Museum can usually do it. They are currently shut because of Covid. It is a volunteer operation and work off donations for the service. A "good" dealer can get info as well.
  18. Sounds like you did OK!
  19. Seen them for $100 online but not in person. Wonder if it is a good knock off or a bad one? Does it break the first time used? May be better to spend $300 to get the Esco.
  20. The look of OTR operation circa 1935.
  21. Interesting! Don't like the weather, take a drive! That reminds me to move the Bonneville Salt Flats up on my bucket list of places to visit.
  22. That is Fabulous RH! Should be a fun project to get going again and take a cruise for some ice cream.
  23. Yup, not Mack. Would agree with Paul on Federal. About a 1945-1947 vintage.
