  1. Easy solution, get an appraisal. Ask around who might be a good one to work with. I have worked with various appraisers over the years and depending on the situation, they have dialed in the price that I wanted for vehicles or real estate. They won't make a $10,000 truck into a $1,000 truck but they usually will make it "lean" the way you want. There aren't a lot of comps or comparisons for antique fire trucks so there will be LOTS of room for adjustments. One appraiser, who has passed away, wrote a report on a stake body truck as a "steak" body truck. The folks at the DMV didn't even get the joke. Rhode Island wants you to play their game so stack the deck in your favor.
  2. Does anyone have a copy of the B model engine data and B model cab information that was in the BMT wiki section of the forum? It seems to have been lost at the time of the site upgrade. If so, please post so that we can keep the info available. Thanks!
  3. Probably had a Mack TRQ quad box. I had B833 with a Cummins 335 and it was followed by a quad box.
  4. Nice variety! Even got a Hendrickson. Boy, someone really made a mess of parking their trailer dump...
  5. Pretty sure that B83 was bought from the Eilers Bros. in VT about 20 years ago.
  6. The first picture of the Mason Dixon trucks appears to feature a Jo-Dog which was a temporary third axle and fifth wheel added to a single axle truck.
  7. Variprime is now under the Axalta name (ex Dupont). I haven't used it in quite a while and the guv. probably has outlawed the really good stuff out of it.
  8. Looks good! Looks like Variprime? You know when you are done sanding when you start sanding while you sleep.
  9. X2 on the nice truck! The speedos show up on ebay from time to time. Some folks here will probably have one also. I have one but it is a little crusty so it should be considered down the list.
  10. Lots more elbow room than a CJ5!
  11. Yeah, U shuld b prefeck lik the rist ov us.....
  12. May be some worn components in the pump governor.
  13. Watcha use for bait..... harbor seal?
  14. Using the crane to go fishing in the harbor afterwards was probably overkill...
  15. I think you guys have the long distance with the most trucks award locked up!
  16. Yeah, I thought about it but it sort of looks like a straight axle versus the driven axle of an RM. Jesse needs to swing by and read the door tag for us.
  17. Off brand but has a patriotic paint job.
  18. Government picking winners and losers.
  19. Can't shift lefty so I would need a RHD 1928 Bentley Speed Six with its right hand shifter to tour the countryside. It is good to dream Big.
  20. OK Hadn't thought about the scraper blade. Fairly rare deal in my neighborhood. The steel butterfly hood was available for ease of maintenance under hood when running a plow frame because there is no room left to open a standard R fiberglass hood. Because of the scoop, I think it is a 686 which would be ENDT676 engine with 285 HP. Also, probably RD model for dump truck service.
  21. Newer than 73 because it has a Plus 3 cab. Has the scoop for the tip turbine so it is probably an R686. Thinking around 85 or so was the last for the scoop. Probably hasn't moved because I don't see any fuel tanks. There looks to be a tank for the hydraulic oil behind the cab and an outboard air tank on the driver's side. No fuel, no move!
  22. I talked to a fellow one time that claimed that there were 5 speed twin shaft transmissions for fire trucks versus the regular triple shaft. I never checked it out to see if that was correct or not. The sales engineer probably had different specs for a Maxidyne powered R rescue truck versus an R model water tanker.
