  1. It should but this is now custom. If you have the VIN from the truck where the suspension came from or a similarly equipped, the dealer should be able to get you the pinion angle spec. I have an inexpensive protractor for finding angles but there are digital ones out there too. Both axles have to be check and usually they are the same degree. Probably going to be between 1 1/2 to 3 degree pinion up. On Hendrickson, there are plates for adjusting the angle if needed.
  2. There is a screen made for rust chunks. http://www.ganofilters.com/ I have a truck without a coolant filter and I am going to install one before the heater core. NAPA has a filter base and various DCA filters. Over the years, I have learned that heater cores make a great filters for crap in the system.... http://www.napaonline.com/p/FIL4019
  3. Yes, it doesn't list a measurement for your custom application. With a frame depth of 9.5", I would make a height gauge at 5 3/8" as a starting point similar to the ones shown in the pdf. Have you checked the pinion angles of the rear axles? Improper driveline angles will lead to vibration.
  4. Merk's maroon R model pickup truck is ex Bolton #2 fire truck R685F1001. Yup, VIN #1. I didn't know who I was bidding against on ebay, but I didn't bid enough. Think it was around 2005.
  5. Some more info. A couple different measurements mentioned. http://hr.mckenzietank.com/maint/Bulletins/16-sb136012.pdf
  6. Running 4 NAPA 7238 group 31 batteries in the B75 which is overkill. CCA 950 @ 0 degrees and 1170 @ 32.
  7. It is beam over leaf and uses the designation of SC. In the 80's, it was available with 34,000 (SC342) or 38,000 (SC38). Years before it was called SWC with the same ratings. The SC style uses the common rubber blocks and spring boxes to attach the axles and the SWC used springs with eyes and bolts to attach to the axles.
  8. You should be able to soak the carb if needed. That truck should have a Delco distributor on it. Post the number off the distributor tag and I will see if I have some part numbers for cap, rotor, condenser and points. If the shaft has excessive wobble because of worn bushings, a replacement may have to be sourced.
  9. My .02 is that you need to buy some batteries. I have had batteries that will show 12+ volts and will light a bulb but no longer have the power to do anything else. After 10 years, you got your moneys worth. At some point you may still need to drop the starter out but either way, you need batteries.
  10. http://www.bigmacktrucks.com/MusicVid/wiring_diagram.pdf Here is a wiring diagram showing the way the wiring goes on a B with the OEM series switch and battery cable routing. Hit the + button on the PDF to enlarge the view.
  11. Nice truck. http://www.daytonaparts.com/ may be able to help with Zenith carb parts. EH's were usually 5 speeds, Mono shift 10 speeds or a Duplex 10 speed.
  12. Sounds like fun! Practically in your backyard.
  13. Nobody likes adding weight, but an axle retarder is an interesting piece. Easy to set up on a trailer rather than on a dump. http://www.frenelsa.es/en/producto-aplicaciones/vi-gama-semirremolque.asp
  14. It does control the pressure. Sometimes the 7th fetzer valve in the DPF screws up which can be solved with the application of 30 weight ball bearings and a torque wrench set at 275 ft lbs.
  15. 2 3/8" ! Now, that's just plain showing off.
  16. The ECM for a 1974 is located in the oil pan. Everyone knows that.....
  17. Hopefully the Cat doesn't have to go to the vet.
  18. That Valueliner sure looks good.
  19. Nice save! Architectural details, like trucks, aren't what they used to be. Old stuff is better.
  20. Nice! A 1945 Model 45. That engine is a Continental 330. Also try http://www.continentalengineparts.net/ http://mandmsurplus.com/ http://www.montesequipment.com/ http://www.pittauto.com/customer/piauel/pdf/continental_l-head_overhaul.pdf http://www.carbkitsource.com/carbs/catalog/C/Continental.html
  21. Yes, post some pictures of the engine and the whole truck if you like. Also, on the driver's side of the block at the front there will be an raised metal boss where the engine number is stamped. It will be at the top where the head bolts on. The number starts with EN. Is the fire engine a model 45?
  22. If the filter checks out. It may be an old fuel line deteriorating or collapsing and restricting the fuel.
  23. Looks good!
