  1. If you know it has a zillion miles on it and makes some "interesting" noises, it may be time to do an overhaul. Take an engine oil sample and see what a lab has to say about it. Is it showing fuel in the oil? Is it showing bearing material in the oil? Oil sample test by a good shop is money well spent.
  2. I heard he was looking for work...
  3. Just as bad as the rest of reality tv. Magically, the truck is done on time, everyone has a spotless uniform and every conceivable part, widget or gizmo is on the shelf waiting for this piece of rolling excrement to come through the door.
  4. Truxton Fire Dept.
  5. Says in stock. http://www.premiumtruckpartsusa.com/PAI_King_Pin_Kit_AKP9820.html
  6. Missed that one. The S in RWS is for a steel frame. Light would be for increase use of aluminum like the bumper, fuel tanks, air tanks, hubs, brackets, etc. Some things may have been changed in the last 30 years.
  7. RW - Superliner 7 - chassis weight 21 - 400 Maxidyne V8 L - light weight components ST - tandem axle tractor
  8. Spokes for 20" would be more typical. 22" was certainly an option for the buyer to easily check off on the dealer order form.
  9. The father and son are standing in front of a Leyland which indeed is a British truck manufacturer.
  10. Welcome! Great looking truck! I am not a fire guy but keeping all the gear with the truck is the way to go. Compared to Mack B fire equipment, there aren't a lot of A models around.
  11. Early on there were lots of buyers that still preferred gasoline engines and Cummins were very popular out west in logging and mining operations. No idea on the actual breakdown of the engine production numbers for the LJSWX to answer your question.
  12. Going to be one scarce doggie. Haven't seen one.
  13. Mack 707 gasoline, Cummins 150 diesel and I believe a Mack Lanovo 150. Late production Mack Diesel 673.
  14. There was a B85 fire truck which looks like a regular B and a B85 with flat construction fenders. Only 77 B85's were made with flat construction fenders. Don't have production number for B85 fire trucks.
  15. Hmmmm...... say Bob..... Like the sound of a power rake. Let me know if you every need someone to borrow that from you!
  16. Welcome! Status change to ex-lurker.
  17. Welcome Mike!
  18. Yup, spray away. Spray from the bottom also. Try to find a rubber hose that will fit the plastic stray that comes with the brake clean which will make it easier to direct the spray around while keeping the can upright.
  19. RS, R, RW (Superliner) are around 107-109" to the top of the cab. 9 foot minus. Should be good to go less the stack.
  20. Looks Great! A friend has a reproduction lower L cab back panel and cab door sill parts that may be available. Holler if you are interested.
  21. An ESI thermostat is a smaller diameter and different design. Your thermostat is a pre-ESI by the looks of it. You should have three bolts at the thermostat housing.
  22. If no one was looking, put an excavator bucket into the back of the bed with some down pressure. Then have the excavator gently back up pulling the rig. Probable would inflict less damage than a wrecker.
