  1. His Friday just went into the crapper! Driver OK?
  2. No, thanks anyway.
  3. You have to go to at least look around! I go to auctions and the most I buy is usually a hot dog and drink.
  4. Don't know if it is the best way. Lube the hub splines with PB Blaster for several days. Sit in the truck and lift up using your legs to put pressure on the bottom of the wheel at the rim. With a small block of wood and hammer, knock the steering shaft down. Unscrew the shaft nut so it is flush with the shaft so the threads don't get messed up when using the hammer and wood. Hopefully, it will pop. If it doesn't, lube it up again and let it sit for a couple more days and then repeat.. Problems removing B model steering wheels is one of the reason there are so few good B wheels around. Use a little Never Seize when putting a wheel back on the shaft. Good Luck and nice looking shop!
  5. That is handy since you have more than one Mack.
  6. Looks like a good project. Are the specs on the green truck the same as the red one?
  7. Mack made 13,931 LJs between 1940-1956. That was the most in the L model line. I don't know how many were X's in either single or two axle configuration. Obviously, a lot less around now. If your are able to save it, that would be excellent. LJXs were on and off road dump trucks, heavy haul tractors and cement mixers, etc. They were replaced in the Mack product line by the B-80 series.
  8. Oooops!
  9. Welcome! Fine looking ride. That neighborhood is pretty busy with trucks and equipment.
  10. Zowie That is some pumpkin pie!
  11. There was a "soft nose" LJ which had a sheet metal grille shell and a "hard nose" style. The LJX was usually the hard nose type as you describe. Mack used the 2D to indicate two drive axles and Mack also used SW to indicate two drive axles in VINs. Using the other system the VIN would be LJSWX6590.
  12. LJX would indicate a single axle, heavy duty LJ model which was available with either a gas or diesel engine. The vin plate would say LJX1D1001 for example. If you are looking at a for sale ad maybe someone took the number down incorrectly?
  13. 54MT314DP94 is the part number for a 94" tach cable. They come in different lengths. Using the VIN will get the correct one for your truck.
  14. Happy Birthday! The girls at the Kilt have been notified and the goats have been locked up.
  15. They had to do something to pay for that white blimp hanger across the river from the big road.
  16. Looks good! You may be starting a trend with the Rhino product. Just in time for liquid salt season.
  17. Very sad news but you are a good friend for being with him and doing what you can.
  18. Also could have a R402 with an EN402 Thermodyne gas or a R403 END 465 Thermodyne diesel.
  19. I don't know an exact number of rigs with Scanias but there were a couple of R487 pumpers 190 HP in my area until a couple of years ago. Nice looking pumper.
  20. Did you have the right specs for checking the lash on the muffler bearing?
  21. Hopefully, while relaxing, you had something better than Ten High whiskey. Then again, Ten High makes Gold Rush easy to watch.
  22. I bet the hitchhiker is calling 911.
  23. Why did the bumper rust on the GMC......? Sounds like a KooL adventure to TX!
  24. That is a Trifecta!
