  1. The green tractor is nice and I like the CAT.
  2. Sad to say in this country, you sometimes don't want to help if something goes wrong while helping. If it really goes FUBAR, the lawyers and insurance companies will be looking for money.
  3. All the trucks look good and it sounds like Larry has some excellent broker connections.
  4. I was talking to a fellow the other day that has owned a R tandem for a number of years. It is used once in a while but can get loaded heavy and is going highway speed for a couple of hours. After power washing he found the front drive is stamped 4.17 but the rear drive is stamped 4.64. It has an automatic power divider. Not sure when he is going to open it up but I wonder what he will find with bearings, gears and condition of the power divider? Is the power divider trying to engage all the time or does it need to see more slip between the front and back? He bought it off a used lot and just never thought to look to make sure both rears were the same ratio.
  5. Looks like a fine beginning for the Harbison Heavy Haul division.
  6. Check the hoses for a restriction. Do you have a way to get the actual temp. like a laser thermometer? It may be hot but still within an acceptable temperature range for the trans. Does the lube smell like it is burning?
  7. It is nice that they put the port-a-potty at the spot to take the dump.
  8. Nice job on the pictures!
  9. Time for a road trip to NM or AZ. Your chances will increase in the desert.
  10. A bent crankshaft could give irregular bearing wear. Hopefully, when the pan is dropped, it isn't that bad.
  11. L and E are not the same. I believe the only sheet metal that will interchange between the two is the glove box door.
  12. Hope it smooths out the Dog.
  13. Mmmmm......new trailers!
  14. Transmission yoke and axle yoke should match. If one is vertical then the other should be vertical at the same time. Is that the one??? Bedtime reading. http://65.170.161.218/~spicerpa/sites/default/files/pdf/driveshaft_installation.pdf
  15. Every so often, parts books do show up on ebay.
  16. If you have access to a hand held laser thermometer, point it at the individual exhaust port while the engine is running and see which one doesn't really match the others. This way doesn't always work but it might narrow down the search. Or with a long screwdriver, put the tip of the screwdriver on to the top of the injector and the handle to your ear. The "sound" of the injector will sound mushy compared to the others. Not totally full proof either.
  17. You are driving a Superliner so you can't be incognito.
  18. You are right Mike. That was in the Golden Age of Trucking Museum in CT until it was disbanded a few years ago. It should be parked in a nice garage. Not sure about it being supercharged? Ben Gagliano owned the truck in NJ and at one time he had a Mack ED and a LJSWX rigging truck that were ex Gerosa in NY. Skip McKean now has the ED and Brian Thibeault has(had) the LJSWX.
  19. Or a cute, skinny blonde.
  20. Both are pretty KooL!
  21. I know NOTHING about the electronic engines but when you mention a bump seems to cure the problem sort of sounds like there might be a loose or bad ground in the system or a chafed wire. Electronics need good grounds and NO corrosion on any of the plugs/connections. They may call them "weather-tight" but they aren't always.
  22. Were you mean to it? Sorry, don't know, wish I could help.
  23. With the increased shaft speed of OD, imbalances or looseness sometimes show up that don't seem present at a lower speed. While under the truck checking the yoke nuts and greasing the u joints, also check the center bearing rubber for deterioration, lots of age cracks or slop.
  24. Varmint hunting season is 24/7 365 days because they work nights, weekends and holidays.
