  1. Joe D. covered it. Even though the L and A model do look similar, I can't think of any piece of exterior sheet metal that would interchange. Jim
  2. Morrison and Sylvester International (207)783-8548 in Maine is the place to go for older parts. If the part is out there, they can find it. May take a couple of days to do so. Ask for Becky because she is the woman that knows what the hell is going on.
  3. I have had good luck with Restoration Specialties for w/s, rubber plugs, grommets, rubber mat material for the floor, etc. They have a few things that are Mack A model specific but most items you will have to match up and get close. www.restorationspecialties.com/ Jim
  4. Not too many avalanche tunnels here on the east coast! Interesting the signage change to indicate a pushing operation on the safety truck and push truck instead of just saying oversize. Not sure the exact terminology. Jim
  5. Congrats! Now the fun begins.
  6. Under hood looks really original and complete. Hopefully, after a little tuning it will fire off for you. Have you cranked it over to see if the mag is making spark?
  7. Could they be a painted steel wheel?
  8. 1. Have a friend with a Toyota Four Runner that is based on the pickup chassis for his wife to drive. It is a big one piece cab SUV and I think that kept it together. It was rebuilt by Toyota and got a new frame. The one that came out was Swiss cheese. 2. OMG!!! The little green rig with all the plywood is really scary stupid!
  9. Just letter it up and put a Ford tractor on a trailer out back!
  10. I believe you are correct. I don't know anything about turbines, but it seemed like all the players tried them. Kenworth, Ford, Mack tried them. I think they all didn't do well on fuel consumption in the long run.
  11. If it has been sitting, the fuel system could be plugged or full of crap or del. hose has collapsed or plugged filters. Start by getting a container of good fuel and connecting a good line to the lift pump. Crack the injector lines at the injector pump and see what you get. Is the fuel coming through the system? Bypass all the easy things such as tanks, filters or anything that could have gone bad in 10 years of sitting. That will give you an idea if the pump does have to come off.
  12. That looks like a van trailer at Vulcan Hart's pretty loading dock. You're not a fan of van trailers. Did you piss in someone's Wheaties again? If you are nice and say you're sorry (don't have to mean it) maybe you can get your flat top back?
  13. Geeesh, this is a rough and tough forum. I think you need to say sorry to Mike. Damn!!! Now that's funny, I don't care who you are!
  14. I know that most trucks are now running aluminum or steel wheels instead of spokes, but sort of sad the parts house didn't have good people or people that were a little more experienced to help you out on something sort of simple.
  15. Looks Good!
  16. The L cab could be on B73, 75, and 77. The hoods are different and the fender filler and cab filler panels are different. The radiator and the main part of the fenders is the same. Be better off finding one that is set up with an L cab instead of trying to source what is needed. Here is my B75 which may be done someday.
  17. Somewhere I saw a picture of Jungle Pam with one of those funky 70's mesh shirts with a double nip slip. Pretty Kool when you are 12 and still of interest as one gets older...
  18. As long as you don't rest your foot on the clutch everything will be good for many miles. Sometimes a situation needs a little clutch to "un-load" to be nice to the trans. and make the shift easier.
  19. LTL's, Supers, V8's, W's, a Jr. pickup... One excellent collection, but you get Bertha? Does she cook?
  20. Very nice looking trailer! Hope everything goes well getting it back east.
  21. Better to laugh than cry! Slight change of subject, do you know if Will Markey still has the White horse truck that was painted blue?
  22. He saved you some money on paint because there was one less letter!
  23. I was at Global's on Sunday afternoon and took a picture of the Nashua truck which was already missing the driver's door. Didn't see the second Nashua truck which may have been inside. That RD chassis was INSANE with rot and spread. Should have taken a picture and framed it because it was worthy of a prize.
  24. A guide pole dog or one of the smaller ashtray dogs would probably work ok.
  25. Sort of thinking it was gray.
