  1. Very sorry to hear. Stop in when you can.
  2. The can of worms has officially been opened.
  3. I didn't look to see if it was a factory deal or a modified bumper set up. The roll off Super nearby also had the same style of bumper. Were you busy at Fairlee time of the show?
  4. Bright yellow Superliner brings a Sterling dump truck along to the show.
  5. Welcome! Ask around some of the other drivers to get a feel for what specs are being run in your area.
  6. Nice job Bob! Take 'em when you can get 'em! The rest of the group must have still be down at the Waffle House...?
  7. Yikes! What a mess! It has been a day or two since I have needed to use the Cross Bronx or Throgs Neck and I am really OK with that.
  8. It is funny (not really) when four-wheelers think they can beat out a truck on the road or a train on the tracks.
  9. Sounds like you are gaining on it. Balancing the drives may help a little. Your tire guy probably told you that a balanced tire/wheel combo doesn't mean that it is round. No balancing will ever solve a bent wheel. My tire guy told me one time that he could balance a square block but I wouldn't like the ride! What did you find out on the hub damage mentioned in your first post?
  10. I like function/safety over fashion with regards to lights.
  11. Soon will have fresh paint and a dump body installed and will be back to work. Was on Long Island but now in New Hampshire. Has the OEM lollipop light on the hood but also has the giant lollipop light as seen on many metro LI/NJ rigs.
  12. Yeah, you better stay inside Hat. Hope it turns north!
  13. Have great BBQ! Got some rain in my neighborhood at the moment so we might have to start Plan B.
  14. Good video! No grass grows under your feet.
  15. Life is good with a shiny roll off truck!
  16. Mack didn't stop making the flat back U model. After 1981, order a truck with either a flat back cab or Plus 3 cab.
  17. I should have checked out the door tag but I didn't. Don't know why? This was at a show so the card in the window may be a typo? Could be a bitsa made up of several years to keep the truck in good working order? The DM and R models got the Plus 3 cab in the early 70's but the U model didn't get the Plus 3 cab until 1981 or so. This would allow the U model to still have the shorter BBC measurement with a flat back cab. With length laws relaxing, BBC measurements become less of an issue.
  18. New England Motor Freight was a casualty in the LTL shipping business. It has been updated to a later +3 cab because a 1974 U model should have a flat back cab.
  19. Sorry, no pictures. I don't even own that truck anymore. Here is a drawing of what it looked like. Made a metal circle larger than the access hole. Bent a couple of tabs down the same diameter of the access hole. The tabs and the weight of the floor mat kept it from moving around. Being that yours is a fire rig with probably no floor mat, I would use a piece of metal held in with a couple of screws or Dzus fasteners that could be obtained through a local hot rod shop or Summit Racing. See link. A couple of minutes messing with the screws or Dzus fasteners is better than going under the truck to check the cylinder. https://www.southco.com/en-us/product/hierarchy.html?hid=7345
  20. I've done the same thing. It made checking the fluid level a breeze.
  21. Handy rig for farm duty or making deliveries in town.
  22. I had some old Pete brochures and my recollection is that the trucks were photographed with the wiper blade in the horizontal position. I like them vertical as well. A lot of modern Pete drivers that sit on the floor need them vertical so the blades don't block their line of sight!
  23. The supply of non-ethanol sometimes can be iffy in my parts. Knock on wood, I have used lots of "corn" in my two stroke equipment and have never had a fuel related issue. I always use Stihl 2 cycle engine oil in the fuel mix.
  24. Sounds like it is time for a new seat!
