  1. Is it a factory built piece or aftermarket? I am familiar with, for example, RM6854 237 HP 4X4. The 4 indicates 4X4 with front drive axle and one rear drive axle. An RM6856 is a 237 HP 6X6. Last 6 for the 6X6. There were also some RD800 6X6 trucks with the model designations of RD8216, RD8226, RD8246, RD8886 and RD8906.
  2. Working rig sitting in the trees.
  3. The VIN tag for the E model is usually on the seat bolster. So if you open the pass. door, the VIN tag is right in front of you. Here is a picture of an E tag and the holes are 2.25 apart on the short side and 5.75 inches on the long side. I have seen a couple fire rigs where the VIN tag has been mounted on the inside firewall just above where the passengers feet would be. With the style of your truck it may have been mounted on the front of the seat bolster. Maybe you can find some empty holes matching the measurements? The VIN is stamped on the left rear frame rail. The stamping will be on the vertical surface of the frame just a little further rearwards from the left rear spring box.
  4. Would have shared the road with AB and AC Macks.

  5. Mack Maxidyne equals Money Maker. Tip Turbine with associated plumbing for the hood scoop.
  6. Nice! Lots of fab work and craftsmanship!
  7. Glass needs to be all the way down. It does takes a little wiggle and fiddle to get the whole deal out of the door shell.
  8. Still had that new paint smell at Macungie 2015.
  9. Nice PT! Now is that your winter home or summer?
  10. No need for glue. Use window setting tape. For a couple bucks, the local glass shop supplies the length tape needed and I have installed the metal channel using a plastic dead blow hammer or rubber mallet. The tape comes in different thicknesses so you have to guestimate what you need.
  11. Hippy, does this affect your travels? Has the potential to be a real mess!
  12. That will keep you busy.
  13. Pretty good info here. Glass comes out as an assembly with the door panel. https://www.bigmacktrucks.com/topic/22516-how-do-you-remove-the-door-panel-on-a-b61/
  14. Good deal for you! I remember there was a huge cranberry warehouse for Ocean Spray near the Dairy Queen in Wareham on the old road in the early 70's. Handy to have that road called the Cranberry Highway. I think it might have been about where Stop and Shop has their parking lot now.
  15. Been there, done that and it STINKS! On one truck, I was able to switch to a different w/s style that compress more and it works OK but not perfect. On another rig, I had to drill holes in fresh paint for a retaining strip using the OEM pattern and nothing works. Sort of frustrating! After doing more research, a previous repair had altered the alignment and without doing some surgery, it just won't work. It is mostly a sunny day truck so the w/s can stay off. Everytime I get in the cab, I am greeted by the row of holes that go nowhere....
  16. If I don't recognize the number displayed or they don't leave a message on the system, I don't even think about reaching for the phone. I certainly don't want to talk to the "IRS" but do regret missing out on the number of free tips that I have won!
  17. Looks good RP! For a plow truck, the frame is really clean. Previous owner must have washed it off thoroughly after every use. Transmission, deck board, rear tires, paint... Knowing you, it will be done by lunchtime next Friday!
  18. I will be greedy and take a long hood R and a Superliner!
  19. Some previous conversation.
  20. Reviewing the B Model Registry on this forum shows B-61's with close serial numbers to yours (47255) and most are showing a date of 1964. Here is the link. Scroll down and hit the blue button that says download and the list will be displayed. https://www.bigmacktrucks.com/registry/
  21. I don't need a water truck but if I did, this would be OK.
  22. Here is the manual and number.
  23. I got the info out of a 1985 Mack Tune-Up Specification manual.
