  1. So many young drivers on the roads today just dont know the age old feeling we had running the old macks around the city streets of New York. I mean, I hear guys bitch about the A/C not blowin cold enough, or the radio dont pick up the "hip hop" station. Let me say this, I would give anything to go back in time about 25 years. I had the honor to run with the best...Local 282 N.Y.C. for a long time. Nothing and I mean nothing beats the feeling and the grin that an old Mack gives its driver as your chugging over the Verrazanno bridge on a hot summers morning, steam coming off the DM radiator tank from the salt air mist blowing in from the ocean. The old AM radio sideways in the dash...cab vents open but still sweatin your balls off! 40 ton going over the bridge to the Island...ahh the good old days.
  2. Nice Value Liner, but the Kenworth grill slats looks like shit! lol!
  3. Rob, fire apparatus is not worth much at all, the truck is a beauty...but to pull the tank and pump gear with intent on resale is tough. I'm a Clark County Firefighter and I have seen tenders going at auction for pennys on the dollar, if your lucky to have an in and put a sealed bid I've seen MINT R-models going for 2500 bucks and sometimes less. Would be better off selling the tank and pump to someone who is building a ranch wildland truck or something like that, or buy a cheap 2 1/2 ton military truck and re mount the apparatus...then I'm sure you would do good selling a running driving truck to a ranch. But to sell used apparatus not mounted...thats tough in my opinion
  4. I always had a "soft spot" for the old smoke chuggin U's of the 60's and 70's. I remember the Roadway, Carolina, St. Johnsbury.etc etc pulling the old Strick ribbed trailers, the pass side of the trailer all black from diesel soot...the exhaust falpper bangin away...those were the good old days!
  5. Fresh batteries, a sniff of "JUICE" and I bet she'd fire right up!
  6. She is going to a great home...and will continue to remain in our group. I'm just glad it didnt end up on a frieghter to Nigeria. Vintage trucks built this country and deserve to stay here and live out there retirement on the highways they once ran!
  7. Randy, if your gunna get a scraper make sure you get a push / pull Cat with an auger...the BIGGER the better lol! Although, I'm sorry to say I think the new U model is a bit light in the rear to haul a push / pull...but my DM could do it haha! Good thing I kept two NOS Kysor roof top A/C's. I bought them years ago, I always knew I was going to find a use for one someday...nothing like a Kysor unit on top of a vintage Mack, it just looks so cool...or should I say COLD! And to think the wife always said, when are you going to get rid of those roof mounts, your never going to use them LOL!
  8. So, after a long "talk" with the wife I have convinced her that we "need" the U-Model! We are planning to leave mid day Friday to head up to Colorado to pick her up. The truck I'm buying is in the new BMT Calender, I'm sure most of you guys know it, it has been to many shows. She is from originally from North Carolina. Dont know what the heck I'ma gunna do with it...but it was just one of those had to have it things ya know? LOL! Pics of the road trip back to Mt. Charleston Nevada will be posted as soon as I get her home. BTW, a late Merry Christmas and Happy New Years to all my friends! Living up in the mountains, we dont get to go online as much as we would like...they NEED to get DSL up here haha! BTW, it was the green 66 that was on evil bay...yay me! .
  9. GREAT site Paul!!!!! I had to put it on my desk top!
  10. Hey guys! Yeah, its getting cold up here in the Spring Mtns. The old girl is running great out here, I have ran into one minor issure that I never had a problem with in N.Y. She runs a bit warm up the mountain grades, so I think its time to service the radiator, other than that its S L O W and steady! Ran a few loads on the side mostly clean ups off the mountain, I landed an operators position out here running a Manitowoc crawler crane, I had to blow the dust off my NCCCO card, its been a while lol! And yes, I'll take ALL the white stuff I can get, so send it our way! My lab pups LOVE the snow haha, nice to be young lol! Great to be back on, internet is spotty up here in the sticks, we are working off verizon broadband, not the best but not the worst...right in between Gotta post some pics of our cabin, very cozy and the old lady loves it so I guess I'm doing well...what more can I ask for, hmmmmmmm a new Granite maybe for Christmas? Yeah right lol!
  11. Hey all, its been a while since I have been able to sit down and actually go on the computer, just wanted to wave a hand to all my friends and let yal know I didnt forget about ya! Its getting cold up here in Mt. Charleston NV. 9000 feet above sea level, the old DM is loving life here! Maybe snow tomorrow! YEE HAW lol!
  12. Went to go change the block heater in my Ford, ended up cracking the damn filter housing...now what?

  13. The few B Models we had were worse then this one! I dont cut good stuff, I dont think there was anything that could have been saved on the trucks we junked, years and years of being moved by payloaders, stripped and very very rusty!
  14. 90% of the stuff we had was pure junk, old stripped injector pumps, turbos etc. No trucks other then a few old B Model's that were cut up for scrap, they were so rotted they were not worth anything. We still have all the other trucks, I refuse to sell them to those guys...they always low balled us on everything thats why they always got stuck with the junk lol! My uncle still runs a whole fleet of old Macks, so we keep most around as parts donors...they only get sold or scrapped when they are nothing more then a shell.
  15. most of the stuff is still in patchogue, exportors bought up most of the old stuff
  16. no, the skid marks are not from me..... lol
  17. I think I'm the only guy in Southern Nevada with a heavy spec truck I keep on getting questions like what the hell size are those rears, and my god are those spring ride? LOL
  18. Our view from the back porch of our new home in Mount Charleston Nevada, this pic was taken in December, 40 mins north of Vegas 9000 feet atop the mountain, lots and lots of snow for the Mack to push come next season! Money Money!!!!
  19. I get up for 2 mins and the dog stole my spot in the bed...what can you say though, he did ride the whole way shotgun in the Mack, guess he was just sleepy!
  20. Looks like a Mack version of Clark Griswolds Family Truckster
