    The "85" in the serial number means 237 from the factory. I'd say someone swapped covers off another motor if they say Thermodyne. Alot of these trucks had remanufactured motors put in them after awhile, like your truck is a 77' with a newer motor. My U685ST is a 1975 and had a remanufactured motor put in it in 1985. My truck has a 237 too.

    Looks like a 237. It doesnt have the big Innercooler thingy on the top if the motor does it? What's the serial number of the truck?

    No it's just because I took that picture from kinda behind there. Maybe it'll be warm next weekend when I go so I can get some work done on it. Long Memorial Day weekend next weekend too!!!! YES!!!!!

    It's not behind the axle it's right over top of it.

    Don't know about the rear end maybe a 65k rear? I don't know I'm probably wrong. I could probably help with the motor though post some pictures. And what's the serial number, I can tell what motor it had from the factory with the serial number.

    Yeah I have to clean it up and paint it though. The fenders are just sitting on the rear wheels until the wind blew one off so I took them off and set them under the frame.

    I know someone said they hadn't seen pictures of my U model in awhile so here are some. Some taken a few weeks ago and some taken a couple weeks ago. Will be going to Nana and Papa's next weekend so hopefully more pictures to come that weekend. By the way sorry if they're upside down.

    Don't you just love the feeling when you get something little done and stand back later and say damn, she's really coming together. Then the next day you do that, and the next day and the next day and then its beautiful. Yes, I do like them offset cabs. U models. I like DM's too though. :-)
