  1. I've got a used unit if you are interested. It is the one in my picture to the left...I believe it is off of an R model and has a single outlet. I bought an original oil bath unit to replace it with.
  2. FWD is inspired on this one...that is some funny stuff ^^^ Keep us posted on the "leaker" for fun. Good luck. Greg
  3. Looks like you are having fun. I'm wondering what 707 that is with the intake and exhaust manifolds on opposite sides of the head? enjoy it! Greg
  4. That would make my eyes burn!
  5. Apparently too rare to own...
  6. I think you would be okay with that. The material you would remove is hanging out the back of the hub. The load is outboard of the bearing which is in the other direction of where the seal sits. I'm sure it must add something to the equation but if it were mine and I had no other viable options I'd do it...I would review all other options first for good measure.
  7. I've seen the 80 series military fender B85 in the photo book endorsed by Mack...and that's only one picture. I've heard of and seen the fire apparatus with standard round fenders in many places. If you see one the other kind, buy it!
  8. When I powered up the 49 LS85 I put the battery in it with a negative ground and I was making stuff hot...I figured out my error and installed the battery with positive ground and everything worked properly...I'm not sure that is your issue, but it sounds the same...someone else will know better than I. I'd verify which way it should be before doing anything else.
  9. Welcome. There are many great sources of information on here. There are also lots of trucks that come up for sale so jump on and look at the for sale parts and I'm sure you will see some good stuff. Good luck and be sure to let us know what you come up with along the way. Greg
  10. Really great stories. I'd love to find out anything about my truck but the trail from Mack is as dry as it gets. I can't locate any reference to the original company that ordered it or the company that bought it as the original order was cancelled. Anyway, it's a good find and a great story. Do yourself a favor and print out all the information and make sure it stays with the truck. Did you get a picture with the guy I hope? Well document what you have anyway as stuff has a way of fading into the past and getting lost forever. Thanks for the story and the pictures. Looks like a bunch of good times.
  11. Well whatever it winds up being it appears as though there is a process in place for such actions and maybe for once we could follow the law and the process to do something we all agree on rather than shoving it down our throats...but who am I to suggest such things? President King Obama has a way of not following laws that apply to the rest of us.
  12. Are you looking for chrome or painted units? I might be able to help. There is a guy reproducing them to order as well.
  13. That is a cool set up. It makes sense to be a B30 given the gas engine. I guess the 37 is rare like hen's teeth. My old man would say that this truck wouldn't pull your hat off. I'd shine it up, make it run and drive it. Rust free is a rarity indeed.
  14. I think the point is that in general terms, one with God (Capital G by the way) in his heart is less likely to use his fellow man poorly. That "higher moral standard" is what makes us less likely to break the law as the law is generally reflective of the Ten Commandments as given to us by God. They are linked regardless of your belief. To be truly Christian, you have to internalize the Bible AND you have to do your best to act and yes, VOTE like Christ would encourage you to do. History shows that Hitler and Stalin banned religion as religion challenged the ultimate authority of government and caused too many problems for the earthly rulers. As a nation we are pushing religion out like it is a bad thing when our very willingness to do so is not only sinful but leads to the further moral decay where anything is okay as long as society accepts it as such. It is one big step in the death of America and is a shameful way to think, act, and vote. We will follow the USSR and Red China if we don't smarten up. See how that worked out for them! This is probably squirmy stuff but you can't not walk the walk AND hope for salvation if you turn your back on all of it as you go. We are not on this earth by accident and living as fully as we are directed to do includes bringing Christ into every part of our lives...ALL of it or He will say " I did not know you". This doesn't make me a nut although nuts are out there (Isis for example) but does make me more likely to try to help my fellow man...And if this offends anyone, I pray for your salvation, but I won't deny my position.
  15. I'll be sure to add Mike to my prayers. God bless.
  16. I'd like the air tank if it isn't spoken for. I'll PM you.
  17. We have to be grateful for men like that. They give so much for so little in return.
  18. Creative. That must have taken a few minutes to set up and tear down.
  19. I'm not expert but I always use some sort of lubrication on the threads and on the underside of the bolt or nut head I'm turning. You have to seal threads that go into a water jacket otherwise they leak. I don't recall what the Motors books say if anything on lubrication for torqueing. I guess I'll have to look...
  20. Is there anything you don't know about 41Chevy? You must remember everything you read and read a LOT. Walking encyclopedia!
  21. If you can get a smaller picture from a little further away, I'm sure I'll be able to identify it... Yes, I'm a smart a$$ and can't help myself. A higher resolution picture would certainly give the guys a better look at it. Very nice looking truck. Does it start run and drive? Good luck!
  22. Couple of thoughts: 1. The people here illegally are a potential source of votes. That is reason number one why they stay. 2. The people here illegally are a source of cheap labor as pointed out previously, again making the will of politicians very soft and keeping the resolution of the problem at bay. Both 1 and 2 are outrageous. 3. The easiest way to have them leave is to cut off the flow of cash. If we simply enforce the existing laws regarding the hiring of illegals, and I believe the laws about giving them welfare as well, they will simply have to leave or live in the street. I don't want them to live in the street, but America cannot support every third world nation. It's not fare to the citizens and it's not fair to our children who will suffer the consequences. 4. We need to enforce the laws surrounding immigration. This includes monetary, criminal and health screenings with required shots etc. If you fail any minimum requirements, sorry but go away. 5 The borders must be secure. Given the dangers of criminals, drugs, disease and the drain on society as a whole, it must be done...The fed exists to protect the country as a whole, Right? 6. The drugs are an incredible problem. Mass and NH are suffering numerous daily heroin overdoses and fatalities. These are high school students, athletes, moms and dads. It is everywhere and nobody is immune or exempt. Marty Meehan's son OD'd last week in my town. That is the former congressman form Massachusetts. The drugs from the south are a major problem. People are dying in droves and we need to stop it for real. Will I vote for a guy who I think will clamp down on the thoughtless, illegal, immoral and outrageous neglect of the citizens of this country all so the politicians can "win". Hell yah. Especially if he is willing to stand up for what is right and just and can say the truth for a change. He may be crude and say some things I don't like, but given the options of Hilary or that communist from Vermont...I think it is time to make America great again, and secure, and safe for our kids, and safe for our financial future in the world. Remember Rome.
  23. Oh crap! That should be illegal in all 50 states! I guess you can't un-do the damage but like you said it is certainly worth saving every useful part of it that can be saved. I appreciate your dedication to saving what you can of it. IT's not easy work and short of using it to salvage another truck sounds impossible but maybe it's worth a shot. Maybe we can all keep an eye out for anything useful in a rebuild. Just a thought. Anyway good luck...safe it if you can. Greg
