  1. Not sure exactly but I'm guessing it is a ton or more. For reference a 12V 5.9l cummins is 1200# dry. I'd plan on 3000# to be safe.
  2. Looks like it's a '59 based on his profile. Sure is nice.
  3. I'm only guessing but would it be a head, head gasket or some other means where compressed combustion gasses are heading for the cooling system? It doesn't sound good...Oil cooler internal leak maybe but you should see cross contamination I would think with coolant in the oil or oil in the coolant.
  4. I guess so...when you think about The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly I can picture it. Gotta love Clint! "Go ahead...make my day"
  5. I've got nothin.
  6. Real nice job. Thank you for the information. I have struggled to find anything close and of course after 66 years it is a bit difficult to know what is clean/dirty/faded/correct! Thank you for the help...Now I've got to try to make my cab look like that! Greg
  7. This is great stuff, Keep the info coming. I'm also interested in the tan color that is inside the L model fire engine. Does anyone have a code for that paint too? It's a factory color (not red like you might think) and in need of a re-do. Its a medium tan color without metallic I believe. Thanks Greg
  8. Ban cigarettes, legalize pot. Legislate the steel industry, coal industry and industry in general out of existence. Make it impossible to own a truck that actually runs and doesn't have to stop on IT's schedule to 'regenerate" wherever and whenever that might happen. Don't worry about the fuel economy of that truck or the price of the fuel. The driver will figure it out. Promote EV's (electric vehicles) that get most of their power from COAL but don't let that little tidbit slow you down. When we shiver in the dark, or under the light of a clean burning candle (not invented yet but will probably cost $1000 each.), "they" will be happy. What is the plan when we cannot use fossil fuels for transportation or heat or electricity. What will happen when we can't use nuclear power even though the US industry has it figured out to run safely. Solar isn't enough. Wind is a not in my back yard solution that nobody likes and is frankly not real cost effective. What then? We can't burn wood which is completely renewable by the way. We can't permit new refineries in the USA even though ours are all old and subject to problems. We don't want foreign dependence but it is our only option at this point and we do nothing to actually be more self sufficient. It would help if the government could actually dig their heads out of their rear ends and have a VIABLE sustainable and real plan. IT's all a bad joke right now. And Obamamama won't sign the pipeline project...One more indication we need to find our candles and get some warm blankets. Get ready to shiver in the dark... Greg
  9. I cannot believe this has all taken place since November. My hat is off to you. Nice job on it. I would paint it with the windshield out but then again I might not live long enough to get all that done either...Dang. You must be on speed or something. Impressive
  10. Now that is funny...Sorry to see him go however. Loved his role in Star Trek! Live long and prosper.
  11. I like the 25T pintle but am quite sure I can't drive out to pick it up...Oh well.
  12. Is that your truck Mark? Nice ride. Hope to have my 815 looking like a truck by next winter.
  13. Mine was changed over to what I think of as a R model dry type system but I've purchased an original oil bath type to go back on it. I want the old school look. Dimensionally the new style was taller and a bit smaller in diameter. The portion of the fender under it had been cut and relieved to accomodate the depth of it. That portion of the restoritive surgery has been completed. I have not seen a conversion kit and from what I recall it would be a pain to make that conversion. I'd think modifying a newer style would be easier to pull off. I guess it all depends on how bad you want hte old look with the new convenience.
  14. A fine looking truck in its day. Truly a shame the body has been lost. Thank you so much for the pictures. Very enjoyable. Greg
  15. Like that Red tractor. Sharp truck.
  16. That's great. Happy B-day to the old man. Sounds like his kid is a good man and they are lucky to have each other. Greg
  17. My father started sawing cord wood with a 6 horse one lunger like that. He graduated up to a Farmall F-12 then to a '50 John deere B. My grandfather used his 46 John deere B for decades. I used to grab the loose end for Dad before he got the elevator and hooked it up to the B's hydraulics to drop the wood into the dump truck for the short ride to the house. He made that set up some time after I moved out of the house. He is 72 now and still using it. He bucked up and stacked 8+ cord of logs this fall in a week and a half. He will split in the spring and saw in half (32 to 16) in the fall. I think he's in better shape than I am at 25 years his junior... I know from experience that when that saw is spinning you take your level of awareness to a whole new level. You slip or reach into that thing and you will be finding the parts of you it cut off in no time...real nasty piece. Knock on wood we never had such an incident. You never get near the belt and you never get off the tractor with the PTO running...ever. Those are the kinds of things you may only do wrong once.
  18. How would you like to be the guy elected in 2060 when that election is over? Isn't there something like this for presidents elected in years ending with 0? Like Ronald Reagan was shot and he was elected in 1980 the first time around...I forget the rest of it...
  19. go to macktruckpostergirl.com She is there in a 2013 picture...could be a lot worse.
  20. That's a good plan, bring home extra stuff then get rid of it to make the Mrs happy! Genius. I might try that...then again I might wind up sleeping in what I bring home...got to get a bigger yard with trees and hills you can't see over from the street and the house...
  21. Nice saddle tanks. I've got half of my two about ready for paint...still have to drain the 50G left hand one. It doesn't leak so I just need to blast and prep for paint with a few small tasks to make sure it stays leak free...the top plate harbors crud and causes rust. Need to grind the welds off and clean that out, rust proof and reinstall. Love the sleeper too...
  22. That is real cool. Love it. Great save. What will the plan be? It reminds me of those west coast long wheel based trucks with a fifth way out back. I assume they are fairly rare as don't recall seeing many...not that I see everything. What were the build numbers? Greg
  23. Thanks for the weekly report Other dog. I look forward to these things all the time. Looks like milk to go with milk's favorite cookie is available in that photo...Love the pictures and the commentary. Great stuff. Keep it coming!! Greg
  24. Very nice trucks, great work on the truck. I want rear fenders very similar to that on mine when I get there. The fab work is excellent and I am really envious right now. Great work. Keep the pictures coming. Love the frame work and the light panel in the back. I'm going to copy some of that I do believe. Darn nice. Greg
  25. I agree with that. They are kind of neat looking but never quite "right". I can't bring myself to really like them but I do stop and size them all up. I guess if it were truly a scale model and correct at least in outward appearance I might change my mind. For me they lack the brute size of the real thing and I appreciate that about the trucks. I will say that even at this level of correctness it is a feat to make it all fit together and ride down the road. It does take a load of persistence and skill. Greg
