  1. I keep wondering how to safely air up big tires...when on the truck. What is the correct equipment and process if any to do it while not holding the chuck with your nose at the bead? I'd appreciate some schooling on what to use. I've seen the chucks that kind of clamp onto the stem but what I have run into works badly and how do you get to the proper pressure while using one? I'm not set up right and I think it is time to change that while I still can. Thanks
  2. I've shopped there a million times. Darn shame but compressed air is dangerous as we all know. Exercise caution...Extreme Caution. I just had a set of tires mounted for the fire engine. I've not seen them since they got back to the shop. I wonder how much air they left in them??? Should be zero psi right?
  3. To my knowledge that is the starter switch hole...no tachometer?
  4. The panel or the cab or both could have been swapped out at some time but who knows. I'd get the panel switch which is available and change it out...These are not 1000 point show cars right? It will be correct and aid in functionality at the same time...now if only we could erase this posting, nobody would ever know...
  5. Looks nice. What is the history of the truck and how is it set up now...engine/trans etc.?

  7. That looks so much like my truck I did a double take Other Dog! I guess its the faded red (pink) looking paint with black and rust...Practically twins.

  9. That two cylinder diesel is about 75 HP in the 830/840. They made a crap load of power with two jugs and they were fuel efficient as hell. The cat is a nice rig. I'd like to see that pull for sure. JD hired the engineer responsible for the pony motor design at Cat to design the pony motors that were used to start the 720/820 diesel engines...I'm told they are strikingly similar in design as a result.

  12. 1. Traps 2. Poison bait 3. Remove any other food source if possible...I've seen them eat bars of soap 4. If possible good door gaskets and lots of foam insulation in any air bap but that is difficult. 5. More poison bait
  13. I'll never forget one trip I made years ago. There was a guy looking for parts for an F-100. The counter guy laughed at him and told him there were only F-150's and they never made an F-100...I guess they never made an F-1 either...One of the best parts counter people I ever knew was a woman who graduated a few years ahead of me in high school. She knew my name, gave me my uncle's discount and knew exactly what parts I was looking for every time...I miss her. If I remember correctly I had to buy an ignition switch for a 68 International Scout...in stock, cash and carry...try that today.
  14. How similar or dissimilar is that to a John Deere 840? Those were made as scrapers. These clearly don't have a 2 cylinder diesel in them...the look is very much the same.

  16. The sensors only see something between them so if have of the equipment is in and half out...no luck. There is a sensor that is a door bottom edge sensor that if it strikes an object will reverse the door like the other sensors...they can all suck but it would have lessened the damage in this case...Doors are not cheap either. sorry for the bad luck

  19. Rust is the enemy for sure. The frames rot out big time. Look for fresh paint and gobs of weld where patches may have been applied. The front foot wells rot out as do the rear tub corners and the sides below the front corners of the doors and the front fenders appear to be a common place to rot. If it has fresh paint, be afraid as well, unless they have detailed project photos showing the work in detail. $3000 for one in good shape is a good deal in New England...real good if its in decent shape. Get under it with a good light and study it all. If you just kick the tires, you will kick yourself later! Good luck. Greg
  20. I'd agree that this tank is beyond safely repairing. It's generally not a good idea anyway but that is due to rust so you have no idea where the next weakest spot is. Junk it so it can't explode and cut your head off. It's not worth the risk.

  22. That load does not appear to be properly and adequately secured from here...not nearly enough chains and binders on it.
  23. I wouldn't worry too much Jack, the building had tons of empty space in there when I walked through in October. I'm glad to have seen everything in there but now I need to go again before that leaves!!!! I'll have to see how long it is intended to stay. Thanks for posting
  24. That is a terrible disease plain and simple. I'll say a prayer for Bill and his wife. It's good he's moving around and getting back to some sort of routine. I'll digest that web site soon. What I have read so far is really interesting. Thank you for sharing it.
  25. What the heck does that mean 41Chevy? Good Lord that sounds like a power grab of epic proportion. That's what we need...that guy with new undefined powers. It is frightening that your neighbor can't think past his nose long enough to know that whatever that guy thinks is NOT good for the freedom of law abiding citizens. Brain dead.
