I'm seeing on AOL (Liberal crap site but old bad habits die hard) that the conservative candidates had only "meaningless platitudes" to express (Prayers) regarding the incident. Godless pukes! Simply amazing anyone would think that let alone print it. Maybe our "thoughts" should be with them instead...The gun control nuts are going to have a field day with this stuff. We need to arm up so some law abiding citizens can start taking out these guys before they get off a second shot. While we still can...unbelievable.

I looked at those trucks at that time. Both were operable with the Hall-Scott motors in place. I believe he had a spare as well. Good guy with a good eye for Macks. Impressive collection. If anyone knows his contact info, I've lost it and would like to have it. I'd appreciate a PM with that. That is definitely a 21 with the extended hood. Note that the fenders are spaced forward of the cab AND the nose is extended at the bumper. She is LONG.

Smaller engines generally too...maybe cost was a factor? A 53 (odd number) would have been a diesel however and to my knowledge there was only so many options there, all of which would have been available on the 61 and 81 series trucks...was there a weight difference? I'm guessing you have to pull the door apart to make it right as something must be disconnected or out of place. A torch would be fast but might make the repair more costly. I'd go for more difficult but cheaper. Are the handles just floppy or bound up? Some additional detail might lend a clue. Good luck

I saw one at Hershey that was nice and $1000.00 asking price. Didn't buy that one. I did find one on Craigslist a couple of years ago that was a floor lamp. $100 later and it's mine. It's pristine too with the exception of the hole in the top. I would absolutely lock it to the truck like everything else. Stuff walks at shows. My buddy has a death stare on his 55 vette as apparently people will take the gas cap off it as correct ones are $$$ and hard to find. Sad but true.

As stated above, the 864 injector pump was pretty much the weak link on that engine. One distinct difference is that on an I6 engine, there is a main bearing on each side of every crank journal. This makes a short distance for the crank to flex or break across and reduces main journal stress relative to the v8. The 8's have two rod bearings between each main. The 8's have more parts as well. The in line engine is inherently a better and more robust design, to a limit. That being said, the length of the crank must limit the practical size of an inline engine. The amount of twist over the length of the crank adds up and frankly the hood gets too darn long to make a useful truck. The more compact length of the V engines lends itself to larger displacements and a short stout crank...I'm no design expert (on engines anyway) but like everything else, there are compromises and limitations in any design. Beyond that, you have to LOVE the sound of a Mack V8 running! Yeah baby!

Other than the chrome headlight ring and maybe the shift know, are there any other visible and serviceable parts there? It looks like it was dropped from 100 feet and landed flat or run over by a monster truck, or both...then left to rust into the dirt for 50 years...that is the definition of ROUGH and NEEDS WORK. Wow

The President has his head buried in the sand...or other places. France is loaded with extremists and has been for some time. I'm all for taking care of our fellow man and such but bringing in 75,000 people of unknown and highly suspect political and religious leanings where if they are "the bad guys" they want us all DEAD, is a mistake. If I had 100 heavily armed people to protect me and my family every second of the day I might worry a bit less about it but so far, I can't find one guy worrying about my life more than his own...Being open minded and tolerant at some point can become being ignorant and blind to reality. We need a president grounded in reality to protect the country and the citizens...that's why the fed exists, right? There is a next attack. When and how we don't know but they are adapting to our intelligence means and sooner or later it will happen. I pray not, but we need to be smart or we will be dead. Simple as that. Learn from France or be the next France...our choice. Oh and remember too that our second amendment rights are being threatened every day...No guns in France either...keep that in mind and ask yourself what side of that battle you want to be on when someone is pointing a rifle at you and your family. They make the average murderer, rapist, drug addict look like children.

I use power service, the white bottle and have had zero issues in 20 years in New England. I give it a good dose before freezing weather and periodically with attention to really cold weather. I plug in on a timer too and minimize dead cold starts.

I watched "Twin Stick Pappy" on YouTube about 20 times and got the idea of how to do it. I've only driven around the lot which with 7.49's allows me to use a lot of gears. I've found no clutch to be easier in my limited experience. As you have noted, his sticks are opposite yours but same idea. Have a blast.

That's a great story. Glad to see it when a father son project comes together on something that has sentimental value like that. Good times for sure. Enjoy it and take lots of pictures for the scrap book. Just make a big drip pan for the shop floor...enjoy the DD. Changing it up now will make it something different...No need to win races now.
