  1. The cab on those trucks was kind of universal with several manufacturers using it. Magirus was another big one in this country. I purchased one of those but never built the truck and sold it shortly after repairing it. This truck in the photo was the shortest of the three, and did not have or need a tag axle. The others had 28', and 30' beds with the 30'r having a "high rack" for carrying a car up over the cab. That truck was on my "Chicago to St. Louis" run and only carried the high end wrecked cars. The 28' bed did a good job with two on the deck, and one on the stinger. The truck in the photo had a 22' deck with a 2' extension to the headrack, and a "forklift" package so I didn't warp the deck. I mostly ran that truck myself and kept it somewhat local. Thanks for the compliments. I know the photo is lousy but I'm just starting to "unstick" several hundred photos that were in the basement when it flooded. Rob
  2. Here it is:SAE Flywheel Housings.pdf
  3. No wonder you like Peterbilt. Rob
  4. I don't think he will have any trouble selling for that price. I've ridden a couple like them and they are a nice combination of smooth, power, and comfort. Rob
  5. This is a scan I located of my third, "MidLiner" Mack. I ran these trucks from new until almost 500,000 miles on the clock without a single major malfunction. Each went through a clutch but that was the only time besides routine maintenance tasks they needed any work. I sold it to another car hauler who wrecked it about four months later yet the bed lived on. This photo was taken in 1998 and the truck was nine years old then. Rob
  6. All of the TR67 series transmissions I've been around use a #2 housing, and the TR72 series have been a #1 housing which is larger. You would need to change the flywheel housing also as the bolt patterns differ. I have a chart I've posted before, I'll try to locate it again. Rob
  7. That is a good product for items left in extended storage of say three months. I use it in my stuff also but still starve out the carburators on small engines. I've seen gasoline stabilized over a six month period and an engine won't start on the fuel, but will run with reduced power till fresh gasoline is supplied.Sta-bil actually forms a sealing film or layer over the top of the fuel temporarily prohibiting, or slowing down the evaporation of the lighter aromatic hydrocarbons that make up gasoline. Once these lighter components float off, gasoline becomes "stale" as it's called. See, some more garbage on Sunday morning you didn't need to know. Rob
  8. It was an open bow and with they had me and "Momma" in the front and eight others in the back offsetting the weight. We were in the middle come to think of it. They spoke french so was hard for me to understand.Rob
  9. Sure you was if only a spot on the sheets.Uncle Rob
  10. Thanks Joe, a #1 housing will use 7/16ths thread bolts with a 5/8ths head, a #2 housing will use 3/8ths bolts with 9/16ths heads to hold the engine and trans together. I've never seen an SAE #2 housing on a Mack diesel myself, or an SAE #1 housing on a gasoline engine. Rob
  11. AT least the steering wheel isn't buried in your gut and the wheel will return to center after turn completion.
  12. Joe, does that use an SAE #1, or #2 flywheel housing?Rob
  13. On the small sets I always shut the fuel off and let them starve out. Fouled gas is the worst enemy of the small engines since they done away with contact points many years ago.Rob
  14. These are quite small in comparison to what I normally work with but a nice size to be portable. With a 100' extension cord these are about as load as a lawnmower at a distance. This salesman is a friend and customer of the shop for many years and he called for authorization to sell at that price as a favor knowing I work on standby gensets. He will make nothing on the sale and neither will I, but they need to get them moved as to avoid any future warranty issues. I'm not sure if they would ship UPS, FedEx, or have to go freight I could prolly get them to Peoria and my shop without freight but don't know that for certain; will check. These are however small enough to move and with the wheels, and fold down handle already installed, they are quite easy to roll. I'd like to give him an answer and an amount on Monday so need to move on this quite quickly. Let me know. Rob

  16. When I was down there in 2000 there were Mack trucks all over the place. Probably more Mack than any other heavy truck that was american built. I also remember the Renault trucks as they were also common. We were there on a cruise and visited St. Maarten for a "port of call" had a lot of fun once they let me on the sailboat. There was conversation due to my size and they didn't seem to want me to go. Rob
  17. Most books will give dimensional data as to hole placement and such for mounting the hub to the drum. You know the size of the drum and may need to research to find another drum your hub will mount into. Rob
  18. I have a friend that is an outside sales person for a major electical supply outfit. They purchased a special from "Generac" of 5500 watt recoil start, gasoline generators. These have both 110, and 220VAC output, and are brand new in the box carrying full manufacturers warranty. They have never been ran and were built late last year. These are available to me at the price of $650.00 each plus freight. You won't beat that price as it is just about their cost. They need to get rid of them as they purchased 1500 and the winter demand is now over. PM me if you are interested. I have ordered three myself. They are currently in Indianapolis, IN, and ready to ship. Rob
  19. Hard to say. That part of the country could be anything. It does have the newer style cab so could have been recabbed at some time. The Mack letters are also newer than the early 70's. Being an automobile hauling rollback truck, the older style marker lamps, and air cleaner lead me to think it's had some serious repairs, or overhaul during it's lifespan.Hard to trust anything posted on that website given it track record of errors. Uncle Rob
  20. Custom ground cam profiles and firing order? Sounds like a whole wheelbarrow of money gonna be spent to make this happen?Rob
  21. 1971 probably. Has the older cab marker lamps too.Uncle Rob
  22. Bought my first legal alcoholic drink in 1979 and it's been downhill ever since. Rob
