I seen one made from aluminum that was a series of bands at the bottom. The base tube was 4.5" but the hole in the air cleaner was larger. The last two inches of the tube were built up from aluminum "collars" which were pieces of aluminum tube with an internal diameter fitting the external diameter of each collar. Then the assembly was welded together nicely and this is what showed. It looked like it was home made but nicely done. A tree collision destroyed it so it was thrown away.Might be an option for what you want to do if you can't have the tube "swaged" larger on the end. Rob

Sounds Mitsubishi to me but that's just a guess. I would change the fuel filters and rubber lines first. This sounds like the draw on the tank is sucking up crap until the filter restricts, and then falls away when shut down, or the suction lines are swollen and closing internally. Seen this type scenario played out before. Doesn't sound like anything major being that power returns when setting inoperating for a while. Don't forget to ensure the tank vent is open to atmosphere also.The difficulty in cranking when warm almost sounds like a weak cell in the storage battery. Have you had it load tested? Rob

It is a five speed. In front of the 1076 number you found will be TR, or TRL1076. A six speed with have TRDL then the numbers. A six speed also has a rear compound gearset and the five speed does not. The six speed is longer and you can compare to what is in the truck since this is known. Rob

I've had a lot of nice cars through the years that were just cars in those days. Amazing when you look back at it. A guy I ran around with a lot in high school purchased a "stripper" 68 "R" code hemi roadrunner from a pair of brothers that had planned to campaign the car at the drag strip but never did. This thing bone stock would scare the living shit out of you cause it would go forward extremely fast, but didn't even have power brakes, (manual disc) and didn't like to stop all that well. Used to have to run the valves, and tweak the carbs just about every weekend to keep it running right. Last I talked to him about a year ago it is still in his mom's garage on jack stands. He like I have had 30+ year marriages and the car is part of the family. He has turned down an enormous amount of money for it a couple of times. It has just over 15,000 miles on the clock. I think the steer tires are the original Goodyear "Polyglass" and we went through a few sets of back tires so don't know what they are. Rob
