  1. I did see that a few weeks ago and am surprised it is still around. Rob
  2. This is what I did with "Crusty" just last month. Don't cash the check but inform the insurance carrier in writing you want to exercise your right for them to replace your truck. Also attached in the letter an amount that you offer to "sign a release" from them for closure, but make it high enough for negotiating room. Rob
  3. They fall under that heading of "Fuckin Assholes". Rob
  4. Scribe you a line across the top of the frame rail centered on one of the rivets that retain the crossmember at the rear of the cab on each side. Find another set of holes in the frame just in front of the 5th wheel, (or as far back as possible) and do the same with another set of lines. With a helper measure the diagonal measurements. Before taking your measurements back the truck up at least 10 feet and drive it forward on a level surface without turning while you move forward. This will allow the frame to acheive a neutral plane. These measurements should be the same. If not, split the truck and make them the same before going further. Rob
  5. Boy did the sleeper in the back of "Crusty" generate some conversation today at class. One of the teachers is from New Jersey and is a collector of anything old. She says she has a box full of Mack Truck trim and hood ornaments she is going to send me. She says some is really good, some fair but all worth something. Her husband collects antique hood ornaments and has several bulldogs so these "extras" will be sent to me when she gets home. Rob
  6. High school friend just built two from mail order vendors last month. Purchased about a thousand rounds, and several 20 and 30 round magazines for the AR-15. This is on top of the shotguns and hand guns he already has. Rob
  7. I assume you will be saying prayers to forgive, help, and correct my soul for it's mortal deficiencies lest I offend someone with my conveyance of verbiage choice(s)? Rob
  8. Yup, certainly was great meeting up with you tonight Al. Enjoyed the visit. Got back to my son's house right at 9:00 and had a nice visit with him and daughter in law before they retired. No slippage, or tiltage at all to the sleeper. I will get that additional padding installed into the driver's seat of "Crusty" before much longer. That lack of cushioning from crushed foam is starting to get bothersome and painful on these longer trips. Rob
  9. I understand that analogy and it's the same reason I quite collecting..........Rob
  10. I'm getting on the road shortly and will be away from the computer for a few hours. Don't let the site go to hell without me cause I want to lead the charge. Rob
  11. Happy B'day to you. Hope it's a good one! Rob
  12. And herin lies the problem. Rob
  13. I was scared shitless until he stabilized that tranny on the jack for me!!Rob
  14. Both the cat, and that 20 ton floor jack have earned their places with me. Rob

    Seen this today:

I always liked the LTL 9000 Fords myself. I always thought they a nice balance of function and looks. I think one of the only types I liked however. Rob
  16. That is/was my truck and is a 1988 Model. The gent passed away that gave me the B67, and left me this truck in his will. His daughter is keeping the farming operation going and they have three aluminum end dump trailers so I let them have it back. Kinda of a nice little deal. I have use of the truck and a trailer at will, do all the work and maintenance, and they pay for repairs including this transmission swap. The T2100 ten speed was severely mismatched for the job so I came up with, (after help from this site) the decision to install a "ReMack" T2090 trans. This should make it more suitable for field and road work as the orginal trans just didn't have enough reduction in the low gears when heavy. The mainshaft is twisted in the ten speed but not bad and I'll replace it with a used one I have. The cat is "Mouser 1". He continues to earn his keep. Rob
  17. I'm wondering if the bolt hole pattern for the mounting ears is the same on a T2100 trans, and the older TRDL-107? Thinking about swapping this trans behind one of my V8 trucks ater repairing it. Rob
  18. I'm especially intriqued by your outward display of beaming affection and pride with your Peterbilt avatar for all to see. Rob

  21. Almost, but not quite 2.25 hours from start of the job till on the floor with the old. Will swap parts over on Friday when back in town and slip replacement in. The old trans is a T2100, the new T2090. Need to swap the output yoke and a couple u-joints in the driveline. Should go easy. Certainly is nice having the right tools for the job. Had one minor setback in the job. When I was removing the right side tank, the bottom stuck to the straps and put a couple gallons of fuel on the floor before I got the tank stood on end. It is rotted terrible. My floor drain is right there so no problem as it will hit the oil/water separator before discharge. Shop smells like diesel fuel pretty strong right not however. Rob
  22. Not a Mack but a pretty nice old truck still working. Barely caught it with my camera through the glass. Rob
  23. An engine water pump is not a positive displacement pump. It is solely a circulator pump. If the impeller clearance to housing is equidistant on all sides it will move water. Typical clearance between a housing and impeller is between .050-.100 in automotive type applications. When the clearance becomes uneven due to worn bearings they do not circulate as well although they still do. Rob
  24. I'm not hungry or wanting because I've never been too good to do what needs done to get ahead. Done pissed a lot of people off in my time being fair and not showing favoritisim to who gets the "gravy" and who gets the "shit", as far as work. But that is the way it is and I'm too old, fat, senile, yet cantankerous to change. Rob

Don't forget the all encompassing "get out of jail free" phase to tell the DOT officer; "Blow Me". They really like that one. Rob
