  1. I don't remember my B series being offset like that unless there is trunion stand, or bushing wear. I think the driveline should run parallel to the frame rails. It looks like that driveline may be running through two different angles at the same time. I have a B model in the yard and I'll grab some photos, and measurements shortly. I also wonder if when the frame rails were aligned if the wheelbase is the same on both sides? Rob
  2. Hi Ernie and thanks, It does fire right off with a sniff of either silicone spray, or ether and runs well at idle but as mentioned is very sluggish in response and severely down on power recently. This is another RS700 w/nine speed and it has always run/pulled well, but the hard start issue is about to put it down. I purchased it last year and then the former owner's newer truck deal fell apart so I let him retain it till replaced with another truck. Is there a sump on that pump that could be drained or checked for water contamination? I'm assuming it is water cooled, or are you talking water contamination in the fuel? Either way it sounds like the pump and nozzles need to go into the shop. Thanks, Rob
  3. That is already in the cards if this Cummins is needing much. Rob
  4. Think I'm gonna sent you a life preserver and wetsuit just to be safe. Rob
  5. One of the trucks I've not got home yet is hard to start unless shooting some silicone into the intake plumbing. It then fires but is down on power from normal. This truck has been going downhill for sometime as far as power but does not seem to burn oil. This hard start situation is new however, (I'm told). The filters and lines are all checked and changed so I'm thinking something in the injection cycle is weak. I've never been around Cummins and not familar with the PT style pump. I'm told the engine is a 400 and the chassis is a 1974, but I don't know if the engine is original to the chassis, or later. The aluminum tag is gone from the geartrain cover. Anything else to check before tearing things apart? I'd like to drive it home as it's only about 140 miles south from me but certainly don't want to get stranded. Rob
  6. I think it fair to make that assumption. Rob
  7. She reads that and you will be skating on mighty thin ice. Rob
  8. I know we have spoken on the subject of Tidewater Mack in the past but I too still miss those guys,(as far as Mack is concerned). As you said they were good people and reasonable on pricing. In the days before internet, just plain good people to visit with. Rob
  9. Right now she is really happy with fingers. Rob
  10. The interior is just as nice as the exterior on his trucks. Rob
  11. Yup, grandaughter got her first tooth busting through yesterday afternoon. Just what I need; another female in preparation for chewing on my ass. Rob
  12. Today is Morgan's birthday. Wish we would see more of him around these parts! Happy B'day! Rob
  13. Might do alright if you figger in a "deflection shot". Rob
  14. I ordered two complete underdash units for R models, I have the gray one, the brown one has yet to show up but they are the style that was common in the mid 1990's. Neither Kysor, Marvel, or Red Dot will supply the original HVAC systems original to the trucks during their production runs citing prorpietary rights. Bullshit!! is what I say to that garbage. Rob
  15. I've all but decided to do it but won't use roof air as it gives me one hell of a headache, (always has). I seldom run an air conditioner but when I do, want to be comfortable. I don't have a 70-71 year model truck so I'll use a little newer. Wouldn't mind finding a 76 in good shape and would script "Spirit of 76" onto the doors or hood along with this paint scheme. Rob
  16. Might have a difficult time hitting her chin upon completion. Rob
  17. I do not know as have never inquired.I would however think some type of carbon dioxide based substance to cause the rapid expansion when exposed to water.Rob
  18. I have a complete exhaust from an 83 R686 off the truck if that will help. Also have an 88 R690 in work with an air ride cab. The exhaust does not mount to the cab on this setup but rather a stantion mounted to the frame.Rob
  19. You are correct but they build with what they have until stock is depleted. This does not count the parts and cabs in the replacement channels. Rob
  20. I think the steel dashes were used until stock was depleted. I remember a 1973 R600 with one when new. Rob
  21. I do hope they can get straightened out over there. Rob
