  1. Yeah, you gotta watch that guy. Got a couple of questions for you: Do you know the difference between light and hard? You can turn a light off. What is the difference between a light bulb and a pregnant woman? You can unscrew a light bulb. Today's analogy lessons are complete. See, you can learn an education and a few other things from this site. How'd I do as a teacher and mentor?????? Rob
  2. Most early Mack diesel powered R models used a 34" wide radiator. Rob
  3. I have photos of the one that was in Galva. I'll have to look on an old computer. Rob
  4. Damned Other Dog. He's done corrupted me you know. Rob
  5. It's pretty easy to get a helper with less brains than a 35 pound jackhammer around here; I think we could "get it done". Rob
  6. I don't know. I dropped out of high school at 17 and look what it's got me........ Rob
  7. Damn and I thought it would be a great big ole pair of something else........ Rob
  8. Ya know, I'm kinda fond of A models too......... No worries, I'm not interested in it as I'm thinking a SuperLiner is next on the list; plus I'm already out of room. Rob
  9. Besides my nuts, that's the part I miss the most. Rob
  10. At this time I have a rust free spare in the shop although if Paul doesn't take it I very well may. Better act fast cause I'll be in southern Indiana tomorrow!! If you want it let me know cause I think I have enough room on the trailer to make good use of it for you!! Actually I could store it for a bit as I have some new found room starting this afternoon. I am standing down for the time being........ Rob
  11. Last summer, while I was working in my front yard, my neighbors stopped to chat as they returned home from walking their dog. During our friendly conversation, I asked their 12 year old daughter what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be President some day. Both of her parents (liberal Democrats) were standing there, so I asked her - "If you were President, "what would be the first thing you would do?" She replied, "I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people". Her parents beamed with pride! "Wow...what a worthy goal, but you don't have to wait until you're president to do that!" I told her. "What do you mean?" she replied. "You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, trim my hedge and I'll pay you $50. Then you can go over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out and give him the $50 to use toward food and shelter". She thought that over for a few seconds, then looked me straight in the eye and asked, "Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work and you can just pay him the $50?" I said, "Welcome to the Republican Party". Her parents haven't spoken to me since.
  12. Pretty interesting on the 700 truck conversion. The old style cab, (steel dash) yet using the later style grab bars. The fuel tanks are B series, exhaust hanger on the frame is B series, and the grille opening uses a partial closure panel to conceal the hinges. Rob
  13. Nope, not this time. I likes my winches big and this one would collape the kitchen table....... There is over 400 pounds in that one. Rob
  14. She's my private "bed winch". And no, I don't share her. Since randyp ran off my gorilla, she's been getting a little more use lately... Rob

    "Crusty's" Back!

This is true but the basis of the mechanical structure is still sound. I can't seem to break the barrier of spending $10K on a part time vehicle as this will still perform as to fit and function. On top of that, I still kinda like it. The only vehicle I've ever bought new, and likely will remain that way. Sometime I'll run across something priced right and I'll replace "Crusty" but not right now. When gasoline hits $5.00 plus per gallon, and people that don't need to own one ton pickup trucks except to "fit in" start looking to unload them, I'll be waiting in the shadows. Rob
  16. Yep, that's right. Our favorite ole "Trusty, yet Crusty" Dodge is back at it. Tonight begins in maiden voyage with a load of not one, not two, but three pallets full of old Mack parts going to the blaster outfit I use. Gonna have a good bit of room with all those fenders, doors, suspension parts, grille shells, shutter assemblies, rims, spacers, brake drums, brake spiders, backing plates, crossmembers, plus a couple of aluminum cased transmissions, and another iron cased transmission off the floor of the shop. Been tough not having a pickup truck available for the past few months. The old standby Jeep has performed admirably however but cannot work with the larger stuff. Rob
  17. If'n I see that one come up for sale, I may pursue it. There are not many finished trucks I would consider given my limited aptitude and abilities for such things. This one seems to missing the aluminum duct tape over rust holes to hold the Bondo I'm so fond of however........ And yessir, Kudos are deserved to the restorer on that one. Rob
  18. Here are a couple photos of shift levers that have not been molested. The mounted trans is in a 58 B61, the unmounted trans is out of a B61, but has R611 shift levers installed. Rob
  19. You buckle your ass down and pay particular attention in those two areas as they are the ones that will carry you most through life. Although you won't realize it for several more years, the sciences and mathematics have brought us to where we are today, and lead the future. Rob
  20. I recently purchased replacement metal hood latches for an R model, and a air shutter cylinder. Both produced in China but I have to admit, they do match the original(s) in outward appearance quality. Rob
  21. Hope you are moving to another project rather than reducing overhead. Rob
  22. We could prolly do something like that. If that cab is any good from the "A" pillars down including the pan, cab back panel from window down, etc. I'd still like to have the remnants. I have saved people literally thousands of dollars in parts costs being from the "metal worker" days of actually repairing rather than replace, which is the current industry trend of the auto body industry. Problem is I really don't have a lot of B model parts that aren't going to be used in rebuilding the original trucks they came from. Climb that hill once we get there. Throw that hood into the back of a pickup and come visit for a week in the name of recuperating. Prolly leave out of here with it looking pretty good........... Rob
  23. Wasn't Superdog able to help you out? I remember he responded to your original posting. Rob
  24. That must be the part I left out. Rob
