  1. Hi Brad, when I had seen similar I thought the truck was a repower. I'm thinking the truck was a 92, and know it was an RD600. It had an E6, 4 valve heads. Rob
  2. Hi there, these are smooth with the ribs across the top. Seems like there is about five of them. Thanks, Rob
  3. That is exactly what happened in the Peoria, IL market. No more private owned stores of any brand any longer. Consequently, no stocked parts you actually need unless it's a consumable for a less than 10 year old car. Rob
  4. One of my trucks is missing the aluminum battery box lid due to theft from the prior owner. Another has a crack where the material is folded over to hook into the back side for retention. I'd like to get one acquired if anyone has one or two for sale in the original style. The truck is a 1974. Thanks, Rob

  6. I like those too. Thataway I can still drive but recover from the nights activities as in sleep......Don't need to be disrupted by surroundings such as traffic, scenery, etc. Rob
  7. When were the E7 series engines replacing the E6 series? Also when were the E6 w/four valve heads replacing the two valve head engines? Rob
  8. True word spoken there. You are better off to purchase a reman "Delco" branded than the aftermarket ones that are brand new. The quality of the hard parts is much better. Rob
  9. There is a rhyme and reason for everything.I gotta admit, a Hough was tough in the rough. There used to be a lot of them around here in the mines. All differing power sources. I worked on one that had a Continental "Red Seal" flathead six once. I actually liked that one as it was very, very quiet to operate. Rob
  10. Easy enough to fix at this point.Rob

  12. 11 tooth clockwise rotatation should do it. A 42MT will do you a good job. Make certain your secondary cables are in good condition also. Rob

    Ugly?

1959 was the year of the "fins". Most all american manufacturers follows this path. The rear end of the Desoto was about the worst example. 1960 was a holdover and by 1961, most were gone although Cadillac stayed with it till 1964.Rob Rob

    Ugly?

Those Nash "Metorpolitans" still bring a high dollar due to demand. I never thought they were "ugly" although I never liked them. Restored two through the years and they are the epitomy of simple.Rob

    randyp:

I'm so depressed; just knew this was gonna happen. The gorilla is knocked up and she doesn't want you to be mad or know how to tell you. Says she took all the necessary precautions to make sure this didn't happen but you was just a little to "excited" when talking about them scrapers. Also says there is "no doubt" you are the father. Rob
  16. Question: How do you tell the difference between a British Police Officer, an Australian Police Officer and an American Police Officer? Answer: First - Lets pose the following question: You're on duty by yourself walking on a deserted street late at night. Suddenly, an armed man with a huge knife comes around the corner, locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, raises the knife, and lunges at you. You are carrying a Glock .40, and you are an expert shot, however you have only a split second to react before he reaches you. What do you do? BRITISH POLICE OFFICER: Firstly the officer must consider the man's Human Rights. 1) Does the man look poor or oppressed? 2) Is he newly arrived in this country and does not yet understand the law? 3) Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack? 4) Am I dressed provocatively? 5) Could I run away? 6) Could I possibly swing my gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand? 7) Should I try and negotiate with him to discuss his wrong doings? 8) Does the Glock have appropriate safety built into it? 9) Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society? 10) Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me? 11) If I were to grab his knees and hold on, would he still want to stab and kill me? 12) If I raise my gun and he turns and runs away, do I get blamed if he falls over, knocks his head and kills himself? . 13) If I shoot and wound him, and lose the subsequent court case, does he have the opportunity to sue me, cost me my job, my credibility, and the loss of my family home? AUSTRALIAN POLICE OFFICER: BANG! AMERICAN POLICE OFFICER: BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! 'click'.... (Sergeant arrives at scene later and remarks: 'Nice grouping!)
  17. Are you sure it's not the exhaust for the trolley valve? If it is bleeding air all the time, trace the line back to it's origin. Rob
  18. That ought to be good cause a good "brush & roller" guy wears as much as he gets on the surface to be painted! Be certain to post photos of yourself too. Rob
  19. I seen that and was surprised. I thought they were still available new? Been about four years since I had ordered one in the shop, but it was readily available then.Rob

    Ugly?

I have owned four Pinto cars. Two were sedans, (1971) one runabout, (1971) and a 1973 "Squire", station wagon. The wagon was the most enjoyable of all of them due to room afforded a growing family and had an automatic transmission. For the time, (1978) it really was very nice and ran well. That car was literally bulletproof as we used it for target practice once it was too far gone to save from rust. Not ashamed at all of owning them. They did me right, each and every one. Rob
  21. I still have the last rubber check you sent. I accidently dropped it and it knocked out a ceiling light after hitting the floor. Rob
  22. It doesn't look to me like the hood can be opened without rubbing on the hard nose grille shell unless the hood either pulls forward a bit, or raises slightly. I kinda like it however. Rob
  23. My grandaughter, (six months next week). Definately a keeper. Her first question: How many gears till FAST???? Rob
  24. You are correct. I remember a guy having the magnesium electrodes and it was quite expensive in consumables to use. I never tried it but one of my welders was not really impressed. It was a "Miller" brand so did not purchase the system. I instead purchased a new Miller plasma for the shop which fit all of our needs. I don't typically do salvage type work so sold off the air-air system also. Rob
  25. This is true an that slag is very hot and flies out with a lot of force that will attach and melt itself to items quite far away. The electrodes have always been the expensive part. I've never used oxygen, just shop air regulated at about 100 psi to sever most any thickness. The process works very well for burning out fillet welds and when the machine is adjusted correctly with the right electrode, you can blow the weld clean and not destroy the baseplate material. Rob
