  1. If you overflow the bowl upon submerging your bag, you should prolly think about taking a couple of aspirin. I still have mine too; but I can look at them in public without bending over or looking in a mirror. Rob
  2. This grille is new but the gent is upside down in both his cost, and asking price. It may be worth a shot for you to pursue. Rob http://www.bigmacktrucks.com/index.php?/topic/22173-rl-western-grille-nos/page__hl__grille__fromsearch__1
  3. If the numbering convention holds true for that series of truck I'd bet it had an ENDT-865B engine, and a TRXL1071 transmission with the "lo-hole" gearing. Just a guess on my part as I'm not certain. I had severe crowding issues near ever time "Momma" would bust by balls for buying another Mack truck but, that little problem has been taken care of. Rob
  4. I've recently read on another site that truck caught fire and burned up too badly to repair. Rob
  5. Macks have a very valid point with the foam rollers and the faster/accelerator to make the paint dry. Also keep in mind if you use bright "Yeller", you are going to need just about twice the amount of paint needed with most any other color as it is very translucent and will require a couple of coats additional to cover. A good way to cheat the system is to use a white primer coat beneath yellow. Rob
  6. My childhood pediatrician musta thought I was chinese cause he always referred to me as "one hung loe". I do know that when they was still attached, there was always more room on the right in my shorts for scratching due to less crowding. To me, they look pretty symetrical there in the Mason jar. Rob
  7. All you need is a hog lot. How, or why he got in there, I'll never know. Rob
  8. Yes, mine is oil bath.
  9. He did a nice job on that one. Years ago I put a hinge on a stainless trim screen behind the foot holes in the front bumper for a guy like this truck has. The original was was bent up badly from butting your foot against it to tip the hood. That truck fits together pretty well. Rob
  10. HI Joe, my 72 R685 w/237 also has two tubes with a door to take in underhood air which is warm in the winter. There is a flap inside one of the tubes directing where the intake air comes from. Rob
  11. I too like the oilfield truck but I couldn't do that........ Hard to break up the pair you know....... Rob
  12. If it has an early 4.0Ltr engine it does have value if runs well. Make certain the heads aren't busted before parting it out. The actual ignition switch in those is a pain in the ass to change. The lock cylinder is too if you only have 1/2 a brain. The internet is an easy way to market garbage with little recourse for the purchaser. Of course the buyer has to be willing to run that gammit. Rob
  13. I'd have no qualms driving that one "as is"; although I might straighten up the front bumper mountings. Rob
  14. They'd have never found the body for evidence had it been me. Rob
  15. We are on the same page. I don't like critiqueing anyones personal taste, just give my own opinions of what I like. Those Superliners always were a "classy" truck in my eyes and really didn't need much to dress them up over stock. They had just enough bright work in good taste without being overdone. I don't know how those stainless visors ever gained popularity no matter the brand. I've never seen a single truck I like the look of them on, (but that's just me). Rob
  16. Nice looking truck. Never seen front hubcaps like those and look fitting to the wheels with the smaller hand holes. I'd prolly do away with the stacks and visor myself, but it certainly is a nice truck. Glad to see it still working. Rob
  17. I've never had one of those transmissions apart so don't know about this the way you are observing the timing marks. On a Fuller transmission, you cannot set them looking at the bottom. The paint marks are visible from the top only. It seems the only way to ensure they are correct is to remove the trans from the truck to remove the top cover, (it cannot be removed due to clearance to bottom of cab) and visually turn the input shaft to view the marks. Rob
  18. You are correct in the 300+ was a conventional rise engine. My mistake. I'm sure he has a Maxidyne series also if original but the 300+ in my truck does have two tubes. Rob
  19. We're not gonna talk about dependability either......... Rob
  20. Vermont started that garbage????? Time to clean house of politicians there too. Rob
  21. You could do it with spray cans the the cost would almost be 10 times the application cost with a spray gun. There just is not much material in the spray cans, and it is reduced to spraying consistency. I would use the spray cans only for the inevitable scarring that will occurr with use. Rob
  22. Balls ceased to form cheese once placed into the formaldahyde solution. I scratch the resultant scar tissue enough it no longer grows. Rob
  23. I was able to stretch out my bathing routine to once a quarter in the name of conservation. Rob
  24. Rust-Oleum "Hard Hat" series over on industrial epoxy primer would be my first choice. It is also available in spray cans. I like both their gray and silver colors myself but the silver is hard to spray evenly. I have a couple of old R model cabs that are air ride with the hardware attached so shouldn't have to get too much else rounded up. Rob
