  1. Hi Ron, With the bed on it I'm certain it would bring that across the scales. A B42 cab is virtually identical to a B61 with the exception of where the air tube penetrates the cowl unless an external air cleaner was mounted. It prolly has a EN-402 engine, (hard on fuel, low in power) if original. Rob
  2. I've not pulled the dash panel yet for access. I'll bet this will be an adventure by the hour...... Rob
  3. If that ain't the truth....... Rob
  4. I get a call this afternoon. Seems some guy has purchased an R model tractor and it will not quit "buzzing" in the cab. The air needles indicate 120 psi and the truck moves back and forth with no problems. I say it is possible to have a defective air pressure sensor indicating a low air alarm if everything seems normal. He decides to drop it off at the shop so I can get a look at it. About 10 minutes later, the phone rings and the driver says it feels like the brakes are dragging but it runs good. I ask if he noticed any strange "smells" from the truck and he says no, but his wife following behind says the tires are "smoking". Thinking he is driving this thing with the brakes either adjusted too tightly, or the spring brakes not releasing, I drive over there. Sure enough the area around this tractor smells very much like burnt brake linings. I climb up into the cab and look at the dashboard. All three actuator knobs for parking brakes, trailer air supply, and tractor only brakes are black, not yellow, red, and blue as customary. To top this off, none of the locations/functions of the push buttons are in the normal place. The tractor brake only valve is on the far left as opposed to the far right, the parking brake release valve is on the far right, and the trailer, or emergency supply is in the middle. What ultimately was happening is that he got the trailer emergency valve depressed, and the tractor brakes only depressed which actually did nothing as it has no air supplied to it until the service, or parking brake valve is depressed. The long and short is he drove the the tractor seven miles with the spring brakes applied. No wonder it was smoking. After getting this figgered out alongside the road, he drove to the shop without further fanfare. I am now hired to straighten the "rats nest" out and put it back correctly, install the correct color knobs for function, and ensure it works as the truck was built to do. I don't know how it got this way and the truck was purchased out of state recently being delivered by freight hauler, (all I know). Rob

  6. Or "service" provider. Rob
  7. I "yakked" with the owners and actually was in the trailer at South Bend. Nice people that really enjoy the show circuit. Seein's it was raining like a cow pissin on a flat rock at the time, they didn't mind talking at all and the coffee wasn't half bad. Rob
  8. I'll snoop when over for certain now. I have several projects we are gonna get started on in about a month so trying to finish up some somewhat "small stuff" over the cold times. Ain't much fun watching the electic and gas meters simulation propellers in the winter!! Rob
  9. Works every time....... Rob
  10. That will be fine. PM me, or send address to robsautoaffair@gmail.com and I'll get a check out to you tomorrow. I'll be over that way in a couple of weeks and pick it up if that works. Thanks, Rob
  11. I remember talking to you about that when I needed a radiator for one of my V8 700's. I had to have a taller than standard core made to fill the gap as my truck sits higher on the frame than standard due to "oil field" spec. I think I neglected to forward that information to you and if I did, please accept my belayed apology. That radiator will fit a standard R700 that is an "eastern" truck. It will not fit a "Western Mack" as the radiators are slimmer and taller. Rob
  12. Thanks Tim, I'm needing a couple for another of my trucks. Rob
  13. If it's on Budd hubs I'll take it for certain. If spokes I'm wanting 20"; I'll call you shortly. Rob
  14. I have a rack in the shop that contains plastic seat covers, floor mats, and steering wheel covers. Ain't nothing like giving a customer's car back to them with a greasy leather wrapped steering wheel to ensure they don't return. Rob
  15. What if you have to squat to piss? I don't like my ass cheeks getting cold. Rob
  16. Here are the consumable electrodes type to use. Don't try to "pierce" a fresh hole with one of these things in thick material. Rob
  17. I was leaning towards Federal due to cab construction. Rob
  18. Little easier to find a donor tank eh? Problem is all the damaged tanks I've seen to cut it out of are pretty thin in the step treads also. Rob
  19. Are the aluminum treads available separate? I have one worn through on the top foldover from vertical to horizontal. Been welded a couple of times but it needs replaced. Rob
  20. I only wish I were that tall and thin to take be able to wear that size jeans.Rob
  21. It was junk to someone. Lot of farmers around here do the same thing with equipment.Rob
  22. Yup. The doc said to place the condom on the organ. Not having an organ in the house, he placed it on the piano..........
  23. How large of plasma power supply do you have? How large of weights are you looking to sever? A 400 ampere 100% duty cycle dc welding power source and an air line with an "Arc-Air" torch makes one hell of a cutting unit.Rob
  24. Yup, when it doesn't sell cause he wants too much, I'll call and offer a reasonable amount. That one is good for parts. Rob
