  1. When I was down there in 2000 it was the same way. You are very correct of the recent generations of Americans. Overly easy financing needs to go by the wayside to allow people to appreciate what they have and take care of it because replacement is not trivial. Rob

Which of you two cracks a bigger "smile" when she bends over????? Rob
  3. Why don't you get that "C" model up here and plan to stay a couple weeks? You could bunk in my rental house and we'd get something done on that truck in short order. You could prolly drive it back home. Rob
  4. My 74 RL797 ripped a good chunk out of a new pair of Levi's jeans the first time I wore them when I was getting into the cab. I welded that up pronto and ground it smooth so no more sharp edges. It is not easy getting size 46X30 jeans neither so "Momma" stitched it back together. Rob
  5. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1986-MACK-SUPER-LINER-TRACTOR-/270903248693?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f13178735 I think I am less intelligent than most to consider buying a truck that needs a frame........ Rob
  6. Yes, I'm wanting a standard cab as don't want to stretch the truck. Thanks and here ya go. Rob Rob Swallows Auto Affair Inc. 33545 N. IL Rt. 78 Farmington, IL 61531 309-219-2070
  7. Bob, I have a book that will reference what you have but get the "FA" series numbers from all the axles and I'll look for you. I remember that "H" model well and it was such a shame to see it that way. Is there any chance that black B model with the Pete rear suspension is still around? I'm going to be needing a cab for a restoration coming up shortly. I also have another class coming up in OKC sometime during the summer so will drive down to visit again. Rob
  8. http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/cto/2822873000.html Bet this girl has a lot of work left in her. Rob
  9. Miller's trade name for that was "Arc-Air". Modern plasma has mainly displaced this method. I used to cut fillet welds to separate panels from structural members and blowing frame rivets using this method. It is very much like arc welding with a stick welder as the electrode is consumable. It does work very well but an angular plasma torch does as well with no consumable electrodes. I've never heard the process referred to as an "exothermic torch". Sorry if I caused any confusion. Rob
  10. I like them better myself. Always raking my ankle or leg on the "stair treads" of my RL's getting in and out. Rob
  11. Think everybody offered them at some time; before everything was plastic.Rob
  12. You have disturbed the calibration of the governor. I would pull the pump and get it into a shop for proper calibration for hi, and low idle speeds. You can adjust these settings yourself and replace the throttle arm but it is best left to be set professionally. Overspeeding the engine is not good for parts. Rob
  13. I think he may be fuckin with you. Exothermic means heat. Like a catalyzing solution gets hot as it cures. A torch by very nature is exothermic in action the way it is used to impart heat into another surface. A good way to get stuck pins out is to weld a good hot bead onto the parent surface the pin pushes through. This will expand the bore and the pin can usually be driven out either hydraulically, or with another pin and sledgehammer. This is the way we did end loader and excavator buckets and pivot points. Grind the weldment flat when apart. Rob

I was thinking of posting about his whereabouts myself. randyp has just plain deserted us and refuses to ship my gorilla home. The bear done caught some type of traveling virus so he can keep her a bit longer to recover. Rob
  15. Horizontal. Rob
  16. Always "diamond plate" in St. Louis during the 60's. Rob
  17. I've always thought it was a follow on to the Western trucks which used the same setup. Rob
  18. And collapsed, herniated disc. Rob
  19. I didn't see it but had I........... Rob
  20. I'd lay odds you will be very happy in about a month with doing the maintenance now. I don't think your wasting money at all. Many of these "maintenance items" being performed now are a one time cost, very much unlike a new truck payment. Rob
  21. Hi Bob, glad to hear from you again. Been quite some time. I forgot now that I think about it to call you back when I was at the South Bend show. My apologies. Give me a call sometime, 309-219-2070. I have a different phone now and lost all my stored contacts so no longer have your number. What I found ironic in that unemployment compensation adjustment is that in all my years of being an employer, and all the businesses I owned, operated, and managed, there was not a single chargable claim upheld against me. Had several claims due to terminations over the years, but every single one of them were adjudicated in my favor so the negative and upward adjustment is unjustified. Rob

You're getting the hang of it. Now try to select more than one photo with either the shift, or control key. When you have all the photos, (up to ten per post) selected, hit the open, or create button and they will all populate. Rob

  25. Looks good of the H-61. You can select more than one photo by holdind down either the "shift" key and clicking on more than one attachment if all in a line, or holding the "control" key down while you select each individual attachment. You are however limited to 10 attachments per upload. Rob
