    MR on ebay:

There are a couple of those still around the Peoria area with one being a septic pumper, and the other being a septic tank setter. Both owned by the same company and I don't recall any others other than a concrete pumping company in Bloomington, IL having any of them. The city of Peoria purchased a bunch of Mack "Packers" last year. I think they are called "LE" series but I'm not certain. Rob
  2. I've only seen the hydraulic type. I understand there were a few that used linear ball screws but they did not have a long life in the grit that exists in their operation. Rob
  3. Still sounds like you're hiding "closet intentions" to me. I am unyet convinced you do not have a "fettish" for scrapers. I would take a gander as to gather you prefer the open ROPS seat beside engine type so you can smell the breeze in your face, and listen to the paddles against their sprockets operate in unison. Rob
  4. If all those orders for trucks were filled with normal productivity, one truck right after the other, and having no further orders, how many days would the plant operate before there would be nothing else to produce? Not asking for any reason, I'm just wondering. Rob
  5. It's just a enuendo. He wants one and don't have the money for it now that he's overextended in dump trucks. Rob
  6. The Caterpillar's and IH's used in the mines around here were open ROPS with front and rear engines. Talk about some loud "music"! Rob
  7. You are correct. I've actually seen that truck and it working. I delivered a piece of sawmill equipment to Ohio a few years back and that truck, (or it's kissing cousin) was dumping an old reefer trailer used for sawdust or bark from the mill into a large pit. Kind of interesting to see that hoist work although I was a couple hundred feet from it. I commented on that "odd" looking Mack cause I didn't know what it was at the time. I don't think they did either...... Rob
  8. "Dibs" on the Mack and trailer. Rob
  9. I did not bid on the truck as I couldn't get what I considered a "fair" price for the fire fighting apparatus to justify the expenditure to retain the truck. The city of Peoria, Il told me they could not purchase used equipment by some statute. However, there were many smaller departments that would have been happy to receive it as a "donation". Sorry I didn't answer your PM, it was a busy night. Rob
  10. Torch the old one off and bolt the new one in it's place. Most of them you cannot unbolt the old ones as the steel fastener will spin in the rubber due to corrosion. Rob
  11. Mine with a .060 over 454 sporting "Jahns" pistons with a true 11.83:1 compression ratio didn't have a whole lot of trouble running 70mph. You probably meant in stock trim though........ Rob
  12. You'd like the hanging clutch pedal and cable from an R model a lot better as there will be one less hole in the floor for air to come through. Rob
  13. I've had these for several years for my A-40 for if, and when I ever get to work on it. I was putzing around the shop last night and ran across them again. I was looking at the box and maybe it never occurred to me prior, but the truck characature appears to be a "N" model Mack. Here are a couple photos of the boxe(s). Rob
  14. I'm envious. At least he has a "pair". Rob
  15. You need a different regulator for negative ground. You cannot feasibly change the polarization of this unit. Once a new regulator is fitted, touch a wire from the positive terminal of the battery to the terminal on the generator for just a second to "polarize" it. Start the engine and it should be charging for you. Now would be a good time to fit an alternator rather than retain the original generator. A Delco "10SI" is very easy to make mounts for and fit to the engine. It is also self contained with a regulator. Rob
  16. I remember them as a kid when we were in Illinois, and after we moved to Springfield, IL from St. Louis. They had both yellow, and red B models. I can't say I remember any contour cabs however but prolly never paid much attention. Rob
  17. What kind of ignition is included? I'd check the coil for "saturation" at temperature, contact point dwell time, (gap) and change the capacitor, (condensor) for good measure. The coils, and the capacitors can be troublesome as they age, and heat problems are a very good indicator. Does it fire right off with a "sniff" of ether? If so look at the carburation, I still have the light bulb inside a heat sink for a "ballast" on my coil, but the truck starts right off now. Rob
  18. Parallel six volt batteries solved that problem with my A-40. It wouldn't crank when the engine was at operating temperature. Rob
  19. Very true. Rob
  20. River steamboats on the Mississippi, use stacks like that from a bygone era. Glad to hear and see it do well at shows. Nice to see anything but the "norm" in those type venues do well. Although not my style, I admire the effort and work it took to build it. Rob
  21. I like the color choice a lot. I cannot say much as to model building as I really never was into that. I always was too "hyper" and did not have the patience needed/required. I can however tell you put a lot of effort forth to try to have a nice finished product which I think you do. What type of masking, and striping tape did you use? Was it vinyl, or crepe paper based? Paint leakage is ususally a problem when crepe type paper tapes are used against the solvents borne in the paints. Rob
  22. I hardly sell anything on ebay, (sure buy too much) but if I do I like the auction format. Post what you have to have for a sale and let it run it's course without a reserve, (which I think is garbage). I hope it sells good for you. At this point there are four bidders so the interest is there. Rob
  23. Hope it sales for you. I think you started at a fair price and it should go up from there. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/66-MACK-U609T-Day-Cab-Semi-Truck-Tractor-/320835120006?pt=Commercial_Trucks&hash=item4ab3436b86 Rob
  24. I'm looking for a couple of round step tanks. Please post photos. Depending on engine I may be interested in that also. I'd like to have photos of the truck no matter the condition. Thanks, Rob
  25. Hi Jay, yes it is. I was thinking we could help each other out. No problems as I'm still planning to travel that way later in the early spring. I also have another V8 RS700 in CO I need to get back here at some time. It is also no hurry. Rob
