  1. I wasn't referring to setting the cab on a newer chassis although it is an option. It can be much more work to get everything to work out. I'd incorporate the new driveline into the old frame. I wouldn't however plan on returning to original in the future. If your plans are to have the truck original, restore it that way without upgrades. Tackling both projects is a good way to go broke fast. The truck will have much greater appeal to a broader audience if it is tastefully upgraded and can be drive reliably. Antique restored or modified trucks are not the same as their counterpart cars. The attitude and demeanor is completely different as you will discover if you start attending truck gatherings. Rob
  2. Pick up in Arkansas, or Texas? Welcome to the site but we both should prolly get out of Illinois as the place is falling apart. Rob
  3. You obviously haven't met me yet. And you thought whale shit under a rock at the bottom of the Mariana's Trench was low........... Rob
  4. They are actually called SEM screws with the integral flanged head. Usually the grade 5, or grade 8 are higher in price than standed capscrews and fine thread are more expensive yet. Now, 3 for $11.99 is a bit costly any way it's looked at. Rob
  5. He was using them special ebay bolts to hold everything together. This alone justifys the price. Rob
  6. You're gonna use a spray bomb can so we can all criticize, chastize, and pick it apart aren't you? I certainly wouldn't want to miss a golden opportunity. I hear the boys lining up at that gates already. Should look quite fine when done. That scheme was what I preferred. Rob
  7. You would not be running the original generator and regulator with this transplant so it would be converted to 12volts, negative ground. This just involves changing the light bulbs, reversing the wires on the ammeter gauge, (if equipt) and interconnecting wiring. Everything is like a car, just larger. As Joe mentioned the 8.3 Cummins will fit just fine. It is a good engine and will make more power than needed for this application. They are not as plentiful as the smaller 5.9 engine but cost about the same if in known good condition. Joe is very correct to purchase a mated assembly but I'd prolly go further and purchase a complete donor vehicle. There seems to be a never ending need for more parts when doing something like this. It is easier to remove from one chassis, then modify and fit to the receptor chassis. Rob
  8. Purchase a cover manufactured for the task. Don't use plastic to cover as it needs to breath while in storage. I've seen a lot of rot under plastic tarps trough the years. A 60 watt light bulb left to burn in the cab will do wonders to prevent corrosion as nothing interior will sweat. Rob
  9. Either this forum, or the antique and classic forum will be fine. Post aplenty cause we are exceptionally greedy when it comes to photos. Rob
  10. 5.9 Cummins, DT-360, or DT-466 International come to mind real quick. You will want to change the rear axle ratio also to get any high roadspeed. Rob
  11. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1962-Mack-Truck-B67-3-Door-Hinge-Mounting-Bolts-OEM-S689-/140680237399?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item20c1321157 Here is what you always wanted; Not one, not two, but three door hinge bolts for a Mack B67 truck. That's right boys and girls, these three lovely "jewels" can by yours for the low, low price of only $11.99 for the trio with free shipping included! Check out this same seller's exhorbitant pricing on his other items which he knows nothing about. Rob
  12. Hope he needs a driver cause I'm close to retirement from this job. Can "punch out" at any time. Rob
  13. The original post doesn't say he is selling the unit as a complete firetruck but only that it was a fire truck. He even mentions what the original plans for the truck were. Rob

When I had teeth I liked "Milk-Bone" dog bisquits. Can't eat them no more cause they shatter when you bite into them and they get mushy much too fast to eat in a bowl with milk. Rob
  15. Yes it does. In the 1981-1982 time frame they went from the engine mounted air to water charge air cooler, to the chassis mounted air to air charge air cooler. The early 350's used the air to water cooler but the core was a little different in construction. It was not quite as tall. The hood on the 1982 model years is almost 2" longer in length to offer clearance for the newer installation. My 1980 R612ST has the ETAZ-315 with the engine mounted cooler. It is not a "Maxidyne" series engine but rather what was referred to as a 300 "Plus" engine. Rob
  16. May sound strange but I don't drink. The rest sounds good. Rob
  17. The 285 is an ENDT-676 in those days if prior to 4/1/1980. I think it is called an ETZ-285 afterwards. It is a very good engine and can readily output 325hp reliably if not allowed to get really hot. This is the same engine the early 350 Mack's were based from with different tuning and transmissions. Garver feed your vendor? Rob
  19. Thanks Pawel. This was truly difficult to locate as there were no fuel leaks, or wet spots at all. The filters were new last summer during routine maintenance tasks. Tonight I started the truck, let it idle over 1/2 hour at a fast idle, (1200 rpm) then held the idle at 1800 rpm for about three minutes and it did not starve out. I didn't drive it but am thinking the problem is resolved; finally! Now maybe I won't resolve to crying so much cause everybody picking on me for running out of fuel. Rob
  20. Nobody wants any of those old ugly things. Especially those long hood RL, and RS 700 series. Yuk! Must be why I have so many. They do come up every now and then but seem to be appreciating as they become more collectible. What engine are you particularly looking for? Rob
  21. That must have been commonplace among the manufacturers. None of my trucks do you split in the higher speeds. You go from 4th high, to 5th high without any split. Rob
  22. It certainly sounds to have close to the same rpm drop between gears as my A40 does if the auxilary trans is not shifted. I have a Fuller in my R190 IH that first is over to the right and up, 2nd through 5th are conventional in pattern, and reverse is to the left and up. It works best if you split each shift with the two speed axle. Rob

Couple of my farmer customers have them on skid steers, and chore tractors. Slick way to feed and the pellets are far enough apart the cows don't shove each other around so much. Rob
