  1. That's kinda ironic Phil; I just ordered two new "Red Dot" interior units complete this morning for both my RL700L series trucks. I say interior units only because no one offers the V8 engine brackets any longer so I'll have to make them. Rob Rob
  2. Prolly just attached the incorrect photo and did not verify before listing. Rob
  3. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pair-Mack-Bulldog-side-hood-Emblems-/250965741213?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item3a6eb94e9d
  4. Get rid of California, (the state) and 1/2 of the stupid ones can go with them. Rob
  5. Adjust the governor for 120 psi cut out. The differential is not adjustable but it shoud cut in about 105 psi. Rob
  6. That is exactly what that does. It is the air pressure regulator for the shutter system. If you take it apart there is a piece of felt internal, this holds lubricating oil for the shutterstat that controls air pressure to operate the shutters. You can take it apart, cut a new diaphram for it and put it back together. Use air tool oil in it. The governor for the air compressor is located on the firewall also and can be seen in the photo. 7. Hi Denny, I wouldn't really say that. It is just there is a lot more rotating mass to get rolling and keep it going with the older engines. The newer permanent magnet starters do work very well but the heat absorbtion due to lack of physical "bulk" shows up earlier in these. Keeping the truck warm before attempting to start you will probably never see a problem. Rob
  8. Yes I remember them. The 291 had a hard time getting moving as it had so much iron to it and so little power. Never was around the 265 at all. The 331, and the 354 "Red Ram" were fantastic engines as far as torque but didn't like to rev very good. The 392 if built and balanced good would stay together all day at 7500 rpm and earned it's reputation at the drags, and the track. These were very good engines. Now the 426? It, and it's later offspring, there still ain't nothing better out there IMO. The 340, and 440 are still my favorite "wedge" engines to this day. Rob
  9. I'm with you guys. This has got to change and not just with the sitting president. He is just the tip of the iceberg shored up by those below. Take them out and the tip of the pyramid cannot stand. Rob
  10. You probably have the old "SealCo" type. The Bendix "D2" series governor is a direct replacement for the former. Rob
  11. That sounds like a TR-67 Mack transmission. They work much better with a duplex, or triplex Brownie behind them. Rob
  12. The 331, 354, and 392 "hemi" was not that great in stock trim, (very heavy) and not the powerhouse synonymous with the 426 "hemi" Chrysler power. Rare and collectible, sure. I've worked on several in cars and trucks. Good engines for their times. Rob
  13. RestorationSpecialties.com for the motor mounts, and the gaskets and seals are very generic in nature to make. Most glass supply companies can get the "cat whiskers", glass run channel, and perimeter mould you would want. Rob

    Convoy

I've never seen a single one of those "trucker" movies popular in the late 70's. I must be some sort of oddball ehh? Rob
  15. Make certain to keep a close eye on battery cables and corrosion with that starter Denny. Inrush current from low voltage resulting from corrosion will fry those smaller permanent magnet starters quickly. Don't let them crank and crank like with it's bigger counterpart. If you keep the truck plugged in when cold, or only operate about 40 degrees you'll not have any problems. A 45 second crank interval with those on an old engine equals short life for the starter motor. Rob
  16. A 42MT is the same diameter as the original 24V starter motor. A 42MT has a mounted solenoid on it and the head is indexible meaning you can put it where you want for clearance. I have two B models with this starter installed. Just be certain to run 3/0 or larger battery cables to the starter from the batteries. Rob
  17. Prolly should have replaced that valve. I too have replaced the same without renewing anything in the past, but it is usually a short term love affair. I don't like doing things twice so I have learned to replace with a reman unit cause even in the retail world you only get paid once. Hopefully you will get lucky. Rob
  18. Napoleon impersonator? Rob
  19. Sounds like your dimmer switch has gone bad. They do this at a terrible rate in R model cabs. I put two in my trucks last year for the same reason. Rob
  20. Who had the pivotal role of their movie career with the recitement "No Shit Sherlock"? Rob
  21. Yes it has been awhile. I was asking how you were and getting along as we haven't seen you in some time. Hope all is well and the truck holding up for you. Glad to see you again. Stick around for a spell. Rob

    Off Again

I'm on double time wages today as it's a federal holiday. Besides that, I'm neither wise, calm, intelligent, nor experienced in truck repair. Wish I could help. Rob
  23. Nice to see you post again Matt. Rob
  24. You and I are more alike than you know. If my wife ever found out how many trucks I actually own, I would be in a world of hurt. Rob
