  1. I think Leversole's rig looks pretty good in pictures myself. Hell, I was all geared up to be proud to own it. Maybe it doesn't look so good in person and other dog got screwed by trading the mixer? LOL. Rob
  2. Rob

    Off Again

    I'm at work. Rob
  3. A tachometer is a good visual aid but once you relate the shifting sequence to the engine sounds and vibrations, it will be 2nd nature to shift the truck. Everything has a learning curve. Practice, Practice, Practice, is the only way to become a master. Rob
  4. 42MT series Delco. You will need an 11 tooth clockwise rotation. Rob
  5. Take a wheelbarrow of cash should you decide to purchase something. John is a nice guy but his parts are expensive. Rob
  6. Hi Terry, been looking for a TRTXL 1070 without luck for a couple of years. The ones I find are much too expensive for me.Thanks, Rob
  7. The "Slippery/Normal" valve does not shut off the front brakes. There is a limiting quick release valve on the front of the tractor that limits the applied air pressure to the front brakes when the in cab switch is placed in the "slippery" mode. You should have a tractor protection valve. This is mounted at the rear of the cab and the place where the air lines to supply a trailer attach to. The other end of the small air line that plumbs to this valve is connected to the in cab valve labled "Emergency/Normal". When this valve is selected to the Normal side, the tractor protection valve allows air to the trailer. When this valve is placed in the "Emergency" position, the tractror protection valve is blocked and will not pass any air through it. Rob
  8. Cast Iron Skillet? I thought "Momma" invented the Gong Show on the side of my head with her's. Rob
  9. Only drawback to those diesel rabbit cars was that a moderate headwind would knock your mileage down into the high 20's as you struggled to maintain 50mph! The turbocharged variants would do much better but the natural engines didn't like to get out of their own way. Rob
  10. Yes they are dangerous. I've righted two of his trucks after blowouts, then repaired one with a new hood and door. The other was too far gone to be worth repairing. Rob
  11. And just where do you think I get most of my experience from? I had a grandma just like that too! Rob
  12. I may just do that sometime. I'll stop and pick something up alongside 54 on the way down. Plenty of coon, rabbit, squirel, deer, dog, and whatever else suits your fancy. I'm not particular myself so give me advance notice so I can keep an eye out and bring a clean shovel. Rob
  13. Shit, I live in the wrong part of the country. I had to do with a bowl of cereal. Rob
  14. Not a race with me. The reputation thing with the exception of the "feedback forum" could be done away with as it really serves no gainfull purpose. Others like it, so we foster it.Rob
  15. I don't know much about Mr. Trump and his political abilities. I do think he is a very stalwart businessman and this country very much needs to be run like a business. What we are doing now as a country does nobody anyplace any good long term. Rob
  16. One of my customers owns a fertilizer plant and has the "Terra Pro" tires on service and spreader trucks. When those tires are run much over 40mph, they don't hold together well. When they blow, it usually takes a fender, or hood with it cause they always come apart before you can get stopped. Rob
  17. Me, no. Those other characters; I don't know. Rob
  18. I figger I better get a presidential grant and fill this sucker completely up under the auspice of "expanding and growing" my business. Need to get this accomplished before January 20 of next year as a lot of those "debt ridden programs for free but yield no results" are sure to dry up under the new incomming administration. Take me awhile to burn though 4000 gallons of diesel don't you think? I only use a coupld hundred gallons a year presently. That may change when I get something around here roadworthy. Rob
  19. Couldn't deal with that red oval thing. I certainly wouldn't want to attempt 70 mph with those tires cause when they come apart at high speed, it ain't pretty. Rob
  20. Yessir, very, very nice people. I purchased my latest RL797LST, (tanker) from Roy and wife Mary. What splendid and nice people to talk, and deal with. Of course this could not have been possible without the help of Mike, (kidnv on this site) coordinating the effort(s). I am attempting to line up transportation to bring this one home as I really have plans to do little with it other than work the truck. Rob
  21. This is common. Cut the copper lines back about a foot, and convert to plastic or rubber hose from that point. A lot of the B models corroded terrible due to wheel spash through the years. The body being aluminum and exposed suffered deteriorated. Rob
  22. Both of my RL797LST trucks have Mack TRDL-107 transmissions. These are air shift direct in high gear transmissions. I would like to convert them to overdrive if possible. One truck has 4.10 Rockwell drive axles on SQHD suspension, the other 4.17 ratio, 38,000# Camelback suspension. Both trucks being ENDT 866 V8 engines, turn about 2800 rpm and will run 70+ mph. I'd like to lessen the rpm in high gear for a little better economy. Are parts still available for these Mack transmissions? What all is required to do this as far as parts? Thanks, Rob
  23. Lets join together and also wish Watts Mack a happy birthday with a prosperous new year. If if weren't for the graciousness of this entity, not a single one of us would have come together in the BMT community. You have to be doing something right to stay in business 64 years, especially in this economic downturn. Happy birthday Watts! Rob
  24. And I ain't nothin but an electrician wannabe that gets shocked. Rob
