  1. Is this one for air conditioning? Mind if I borrow it? I'd spray it with a release, front and back, and make a two piece mould to cast others. I've not been able to locate one for months. Rob

    Nice R model:

Yes it is but a lot more predictable and sure feeling. You split every gear with the air splitter. One of the best transmissions out there. Rob
  3. I seen that earlier. Funny how people see a term and start using it without understanding. OEM would fit, NOS, or NS1 does not. Rob
  4. I'd like to make a mould to reproduce these. I'll either purchase one, or just borrow it if available. Rob

  6. And the flange area between the fenders and headlamp panels. Once welded together like stated, they are impossible to take apart without a lot of rework. Rob
  7. I've not noticed anything out of the ordinary. Rob
  8. I received absolutely nothing Mack related this Christmas. It was great to see son, daughter in law, grandaughter, mother in law and eat well! Hope everybody enjoyed the holiday also. Rob
  9. I like the "retro" look of the black fenders personally. Have always been partial to that look. I wish there was some good advice to give on the engine but I have no experience on these newer trucks other than fixing wrecks. Some have good luck with them, some not so good but I do wish you the best of luck. It is tough out there and breakdowns or out of service time is expensive, and can make or break any endeavor. Rob
  10. You did better than most. To reinstall use vinyl top adhesive from an auto parts store paint vendor, the more expensive product by 3M "Super Trim Adhesive", or as I do, "yella snot" for rubber roof installs on a house. These products will take the heat generated in the cab during the summer months. Regular contact cement will not. Rob
  11. C O A L in my stocking. Rob

    By the gallon:

After burning just a couple at a time and counting on the wind to be a certain direction, we decided to "get it done". We then threw the rims onto the scrap trailer during one of the shop clean up days. Even the steel wiring remaining from the tires went into the scrap heap. Rob

    By the gallon:

I would expect that you can do no wrong out in the country but I can tell you from personal experience a mixture of 26 truck tires ranging in sizes of 10.00X20 through 10.00X22 burn hot when set ablaze in the same pile. Rob
  14. Let's see some photos of what you are starting with. Nothing wrong with trying to better one self no matter how it's done. Rob
  15. I have never seen an SAE #2 bell on a TR72 series Mack transmission, (used behind the diesels), nor an SAE #1 on the smaller TR67 series (used on the gasoline engines). As a side note, SAE #1, and SAE #2 bells are readily available and interchangable for Fuller transmissions. In that little B model, I'd prolly go with a 5.9 Cummins, or DT series International engine with either a five, or six speed overdrive trans. As Superdog mentioned you will prolly want to change the rear axle to something that will move along a little faster with today's traffic. Rob
  16. The gasoline engines used an SAE #2 housing, the diesels used an SAE #1 housing though the B model years. Rob
  17. You need to rebuild the shift cylinders on the top cover of the transmission, and the selectair valve in the cab. They are leaking air from age. If you use PAI parts and supply the labor yourself, there will be less than $50.00 in the rebuild of both cylinders and the valve. Rob

  19. The Teacher asked young Patrick Murphy: "What do you do at Christmas time? Patrick addressed the class: "Well Ms. Jones, me and my twelve brothers and sisters go to midnight mass and we sing hymns; then we come home very late and we put mince pies by the back door and hang up our stockings. Then all excited, we go to bed and wait for Father Christmas to come with all our toys. "Very nice Patrick," she said. "Now Jimmy Brown, what do you do at Christmas?" Well, Ms. Jones, me and my sister go to church with Mom and Dad and we sing carols and get home late. We put cookies and milk by the chimney and hang up our stockings. We hardly sleep, waiting for Santa Claus to bring our presents. Realizing there was a Jewish boy in the class and not wanting to leave him out of the discussion, she asked, "Now, Isaac Cohen, what do you do at Christmas"? Isaac said, "Well, it's the same thing every year……..Dad comes home from the office. We all pile into the Rolls Royce and we drive to Dad's toy factory. When we get inside, we look at all the empty shelves and sing: “What A Friend We Have in Jesus.” Then we all go to the Bahamas.
  20. A couple was Christmas shopping at the mall on Christmas Eve and the mall was packed. Walking through the mall the surprised wife looked up and noticed her husband was nowhere around and she was very upset because they had a lot to do. She used her cell phone to call her husband to ask him where he was. The husband in a calm voice said, "honey remember the jewelry store we went into 5 years ago where you fell in love with that diamond necklace that we could not afford and I told you that I would get it for you one day"? His wife said crying, yes I remember that jewelry store. He said,"Well, I'm in the bar next to it."
  21. A driver was stuck in a traffic jam on Highway 95 outside Washington DC. Nothing was moving. Suddenly, a man knocks on the window. The driver rolls down the window and asks the man, "What's going on?" "Terrorists have kidnapped Congress, and they're asking for a $100 million dollar ransom. Otherwise, they are going to douse them all in gasoline and set them on fire. We are going from car to car, collecting donations". "How much is everyone giving, on average?" the driver asks. The man replies; "Roughly a gallon"!
  22. You might want to carry a non contact heat thermometer gun and shoot each axle at the bearing area to check for abnormal heating during operation. Have you checked for proper torque on the rear drive axle bearings? I'm assuming the universal joints are not binding and have been lubricated. Also look at the carrier bearing if there is one. Rob
  23. You are moving in the right direction now. Look at your trunion bushings, torque link bushings, spring boxes, all for looseness or non center. You are correct in that the rails were absorbing some of the oscillations started elsewhere in the truck. Spring pins are a definate culprit as are the bushings in the spring eyes. Also something you may want to do regardess is to unload the spings by jacking the truck on the frame, and paint grease onto the extended spring leaves. If these things don't readily slide, or bind, they can cause all kinds of similar problems to what you have. I'm thinking something is moving fore and aft causing your problem. Rob
  24. Acme was bought up several years ago by the Sherwin-Williams paint Co. I think they still market the product line although it will be changed from original. "Mack Green" through the years has comprised of four distinctly different hues of color I'm aware of. Most times it was a variance of both the yellow, and the blue intermix colors. Of course I'm rather young to this only being around it since 1973 but they started to get a little lighter in later years. The early 1950's hues were darker in the face. Rob
  25. If those compressor blades are bent in the 3rd stage of the axial compressor bypass section, you prolly best not straighten them out. This is a known problem cause "Bud's" repair service was rebuilding engines for P&W, GE, Rolls-Royce, and several other manufacturers. Seems Bud was making his own compressor blades from his empty Budweiser cans and that wasn't working out to well for the end user. When this didn't work out so well, he started working on Komatsu dozers, and Hitachi excavators. Hope you haven't been having any problems. Rob
