  1. You will be happy with the items you have incorporated. I don't like not having front brakes myself and have done exactly as you have in the past. Rob
  2. Any chance you could use a ball and socket set like cabovers used? That would make swapping out easy with no connections to break loose. Rob
  3. I was a Holy Roller in high school. Somebody would show up with a "lid" and I'd say "Holy Shit, Let's Roll One"!! That might splain where better than half my active brain cells went. Rob
  4. Yes, that many holes in line with one another is bad news. Close them as suggested and tighten each fastener you can get to before proceeding further with isolation. Rob
  5. Ohhh Shit have you stepped into a future pile now Bob. Wait'll other dog gets a chop on that photo! Rob
  6. Still an option David. I have 2.5 years till I reach minimum retirement age for the govt. pension I've earned. There is nothing available in the Columbia area fitting my specialty/stupidity I've found yet. Rob
  7. Wouldn't annoy me at all. In fact be glad to have you. I'd finally be able to break that Peterbilt loving attitude on short order with various incendiary, and explosive devices in close proximity to such inanimate by nature objects. There is a soon to be vacant piece of property right next store should I find another acceptable neighbor. When you win the lottery let me know. I'll help you out. Rob
  8. I pointed to two old drunks sitting across the bar from us and told my friend "That's us in 10 years". He said "That's a mirror, you dip-shit"! Rob
  9. The Ranger series sales have been falling off for years as have most small pickups sales. I never really cared for them much as when they were released it increased the cost of the full size counterparts. When the movie "Urban Cowboy" came out, seems everybody had to have a pickup truck with all the options increasing the prices further. Used to be a pickup truck was a utility vehicle but not anymore, although their heyday has passed. Although I think Rangers were a pretty good vehicle rendering good service given reasonable care, It prolly is time for them to go, or be completely redesigned. Rob
  10. No luck on your prior ebay listings? Your price is a bit high could be a reason. I'd start at $350.00-$400.00 and you may have better luck. I have two of them NOS myself, both purchased for less than the the amount listed. Rob
  11. You know what is so strange about the difference in these type trucks is how "iconic", or collectable each is, or will become. Despite my obvious bias towards the Mack "Western" I don't ever see the following for that Kenworth the Mack has. Nor will it garner the asking price when the ages are the same of the two units, even if adjusted for inflation. The Mack if purchased for say $4500.00 has very little, (if any) depreciation left to the value, yet that Kenworth at the same age will be less valuable from the start. Of course I'm assuming both trucks are maintained and operate well. Plus, "a turd is a turd" no matter how many times you polish it. Rob
  12. Nice looking truck. Be great with a rollback bed. Rob

I just hope randyp don't see this thread: Rob

    I'M Back

While I may be wrong, it looks like something you would put it in soft, pull a stiffee, and listen to the bones crack. Rob
  15. There are oil, and grease seals. You can use oil seals with grease packed bearings but not the other way around. Of couse when using oil in the hubs you need oil hubcaps such as Stemco style. Rob
  16. yessir I remember it well. Me an bulldogman converse about that place often. Yes, Nikki was born while I was stationed there but in Memphis. "Momma" was so huge the Navy "champus'd" us to the civilian hospital there. I suppose the base hospital didn't have a bed large enough although at that time she would still fit on a full sized mattress. Knowing the airframe was in Millington, I've prolly seen it cause I used to get all over that base on my scooter. Rob
  17. Did you have the tire and rim off of the trailer? I've mounted tubless tires that sat in a shed over 10 years stacked six high and not really had problems. I've always worn a long sleeve shirt and leather gloves but it's always worked for me. The "Whale Cum", (tire lube) I use will seal a bead over 1" distant if you air slow so you can massage and control the squeeze out of the material. This stuff is thicker than chassis grease and is not liquid at all. Whatever you do, and however you do it the tire has to either be off a truck or trailer, or jacked clear of the ground so no weight is resting upon it. Don't think I've ever burnt any of the remaining hair I still possess, but it certainly can be a loud "woof" as the ether explodes. Rob
  18. The engine ain't worth squat. You should immediately pull it out and send it to me for proper disposal; LOL. The photos aren't very good to make a determination but in nice average shape I'd thing between four and five thousand dollars would be fair. Most likely is either a five, or six speed trans on 4.17 ratio 38.000# rears. Most of those had 10,500 Rockwell steer axles. Rob
  19. If gasoline, it would most likely be an EN-354 engine. The trans if a duplex is probably a TRD-37. Rob
  20. It all started when they were given an inch. Rob
  21. I'm from the USA and I do have one! What model of transmission do you have? It will be stamped on the left side of the case. Rob
  22. Glad to see you go about the task thataway. I hate welding and burning my ass cheeks. Oh by the way, don't fart when welding. We don't need no splozions after taking so many safety precautions. Rob
  23. I've seen several instances of natural gas supply line being welded due to cracking under a blanket of CO2 to displace the oxygen available. It works pretty well too. Rob
  24. Guess I forgot you will need a shovel, large plastic bag, some of Tom's home made Bar B Q sauce, 409 cleaner, and plenty of clean rags. To ease the burden of others, please do your welding inside the shop so the feast is easier to gather. Also be kind to the shop and have the overhead door open. Most of all, Have Fun!! Rob
