    Damned Monday:

Sounds like a breeding ground for "frumunda" cheese to ferment, grow, and prosper with a gorilla on his back. Citing that neither one of them two is very good with personal hygien; they both ought to itch pretty good by the time they get here. Be good to get my fuel can back. Cousin Bob and gorilla are welcome to the shed in the back yard while they stay. Hope they can get along well enough cause those two are both "naggers", but Bob is the more fragrant of the two. "Momma" and the gorilla just don't get along that well so I try to keep them apart. Rob
  2. It looks like a GPS setup for running grade. They are quite popular but don't think I've seen one on a dozer that small before. Lot of D6 and above sized tractors around here run them. The set interfaces into the machine hydraulics and will run grade within about 1/8th inch if monitored during the push/cut. Rob

There is no writing anyplace in the area your pointer references. I even went on the internet and looked up Peterbilt air suspensions. This one looks close, but still no cigar so I'm thinking I'm safe for now. I'm also thinking you are missing the comraderie that truck brought you. You were quite well known all over due to that truck. Operators were always standing by awaiting your inevitable call, 24hr service dealers were always on high alert status knowing you'd be in, and the US military installed a secret GPS tracking device in the air wing on your sleeper so you wouldn't be far from rescue. If I had a truck that garnered that much respect for me, I'd certainly miss it too. Rob
  4. No newsprint or magazine required? Rob

There are no grinder, or casting "snag" markes on the hangers. They are all sand cast finish and smooth. Haven't been around too many running Peterbilts, most I've seen are either at a dealership or other repair facility discounting the ones in scrapyards..... Rob

So it'll be alright to use on a Mack and not handicap the finished product although there is no difinitive proof the suspension was ever near a Peterbilt? Rob
  7. "Castor Oil" would be my reccomendation for that problem. Rob

I don't want to jinx the project from the start so set me straight. I'm ready to start welding the frame together later tonight. Tomorrow I'll call the measurements into the driveline shop for proper fitment. Because I only want good stuff, I'll prolly get the shafting of my life. You guys are referring to this as a Peterbilt suspension. Where would it say anything about that? There are no markings anyplace I can find on any part attesting that. Was gonna show a photo of the unmarked spring hanger(s) but sat my camera on a tire, then bumped the tire causing it to rotate and guess what happened? The camera landed on the exposed/extended lens shoving it back and stripping the drive gears. Now the SOB needs replaced, (again). On another note: I came to preliminary settlement on the "Trusty, yet Crusty" ole Dodge with the insurance company yesterday. They are being generous given the age and condition of the truck so I'm actively hunting a replacement. Temporarily this old B-61 will be my "mule" till I find something else for a permanent replacement. Rob

    Hot damn!

Would you mind faxing me over a piece as I'm at work and will not get be spending time with family today. They are just about 200 miles distant and I sit here with some dead equipment, some marginal, ensuring the national airspace is safe. Rob
  10. Naw, the cops in Oregon summoned him to break up the Occupying crowd so they left without incident. Rob
  11. I use RDO Truck Center in Fargo, ND for parts most times. I've been set up with them for over 25 years and have always felt like they treat me right. Used to deal exclusively with the St. Louis Mack dealer, (when corporate owned, locally managed) but no more with the new mentality. Rob
  12. Can't discount what you've said at all Morgan. If I could find a 2000 Ford F350 with a decent price I'd prolly snap it up. I really liked the way your truck pulls and drives. Still haven't come to settlement on the Dodge so not moving forward till that happens. Rob

    Damned Monday:

We pulled the front axle out of the frame tonight and all hoses, brackets, wiring, valves, etc and there are no Pete indications anyplace. The hangers are bare castings with nothing as far as nomenclature. I do know it will be a slip fit over the frame stubs on the B model. This frame is 33.5" inside dimension and the Mack is the same outer dimension. I'm going to slip it about a foot and weld solid. The guy I got this from had a "slew" of old White trucks he ran that were retired/junked in his field. I assumed it was from one of those but never asked. I'm not really familiar with air ride as never much been around it. Rob

I wouldn't know. It doesn't say Pete anyplace on it so maybe it's some sort of copy? I bought it as is in a field. Rob
  15. Gawd don't let randyp see that. He'll be switchin sides on us. Rob

    Damned Monday:

I don't know what it is. There are no markings but the axle is a Rockwell Standard. Rob

    Damned Monday:

I'll bet the ole Mack frame feels about the same as I did after "Momma" got done with her "Butcher Knife" on me. Rob
  18. Maybe Mark is the new "spammer"??????? Rob

That be exactly right. I did get that service manual scanned in but cannot figger out how to interleave the pages. I had to do all the even, then all the odd numbered pages. The file(s) are almost 200M in size so will probably make them available to Barry for posting cause I'm either too lazy, or stupid to figger it out on my own. Rob

I was really partial to Linde, L-Tec, Esab, (same company) until the representing dealer which was locally owned sold out to corporate structure. No more personal service as the old time employees were forced out and the prices immediately went up, and discounts went down. I purchased that welder new in 89, the plasma in 96. Both have been 100% trouble free and have many hours upon them. I'm looking at a new tig machine but will probably go with Miller, or Lincoln. I tend to like Lincoln cause when you call them direct, they talk to you in a "No Shit" type conversation. Most of the technical support I've dealt with at Lincoln actually know their products. Rob

Those brake spiders are for my B67. I just rebushed all of them after having the cams built up and turned to proper size. They are for the SWDL56 rears, 16" brakes if I remember correctly. Sorry but I can't sell them as they will be used. Rob
  22. You haven't met "Momma" yet. Don't know how much weight she can bench press but I can tell you in one of her fits of rage with ole Rob over a Mack purchase instead of diapers when the kids was young, she is pretty damned strong. We got locked up together for fighting in public and she almost had my face pushed though the cell bars before the county mounty on duty clubbed her with his night stick. Saved my life he did. Never thought I'd be grateful to the cops but I have a couple soft spots in the sides of my head for him. "Momma" put them there. Rob

Well, dragged the ole B61 out of the corner after unburying it to park in this spot. The photos show the truck staged, then on stands and leveled ready to be cut in half. Also have attached a shot of the air ride that will be grafted onto the frame stubs. This cutoff has burnt out front differential and I'm only using the rear. I have new bags, bushing kit, drums, and adjustment shims for setting the driveline angle once she is put together. As mentioned earlier I dropped the driveline off at the shop and just need to tell them what length I need. This should be a slip fit over the existing stub(s) and I'll allow about a 12" overlap of the frames which will be welded solid on the inside and outer surfaces. I'm thinking this should go pretty smooth. I'll probably drive this one around for a while on the original engine which runs well. It will have 3.70 gears, brand new 10.00RX22 radial tires, and a double over triplex trans. It may not even want to pull itself but I'd like to get a few miles on it before changing to something with more power. This truck hasn't been driven since 1992 when the original "Unishift" transmission exploded itself which is how I purchased it in 1994. It hasn't been outside the building since early 2005. Rob
  24. May sound a bit ironic but just yesterday I replaced all the smoke detectors in the house with combination new units that sense CO2, fire, and smoke emmisions. All these are mounted a bit down from the ceiling of each room. We did this for both the new baby, and to replace aged sensors. I'm an electronic technician by trade and don't use "power strips" with the exception of the surge suppressor on the computer. These things are a know hazzard I've never allowed. Maybe this is one of the only things I do right? Rob
  25. Aint no sticker gonna fix stupid; or kids being kids. Rob
