  1. First thing to do is get a compression check on the engine performed. If low in any cylinder, remove the compressor cooling lines from the engine, and plug the holes. Recheck. If the readings are good, the problem is the compressor. If the check still presents the same problem(s), it is probably time to remove the head(s) for either a blown gasket, cracked liner, etc. Have you checked for engine blowby? With the engine idling, remove the oil fill cap and is there positive pressure, or slightly negative? Positive pressure is indicative of internal problems brewing in the rings, and or head gaskets also. I'd be willing to be you are looking at head gaskets. Don't do just one however cause the other will follow suit if you only replace the existing bad one, (if the case). Not a big or expensive job if you can perform the labor yourself but things are heavy. Rob
  2. It's neither one of ya; but that damned gorilla smells terrible after a couple days of no bathing. Wonder how randyp puts up with that? Ya know the old analogy of "You got it licked, once you get past the smell" only goes so far. Rob
  3. Exactly. Rob
  4. Suppose they have a cause that manifests itself cause somebody else did it? Rob
  5. Yup. Wrecker slings make them Peterbilts ride really good. Rob
  6. I hear the faint sound of a grindstone in the back room. This just after I told "Momma" what you done did. Rob
  7. Prolly checking out BMT and the post of Other Dog's concerning the orphaned puppy. Deeply concerned as you can tell by his intent stare. Rob
  8. Water or grease powered hydraulics? Mine is getting weak and im in need of a new replacement; sterile of course. Rob

    Well Dammit:

Grabbed me a spare tank off the shelf this evening after removing the old one from the truck. I'll have to get a photo of this as the tank has nine separate repairs to it with a welder and patches besides the sump blown out. Anyways, I grab one of my spare 55 gallon tanks and have a look see inside to find a bunch of what looks like gear teeth on the bottom. This tank was converted to an oil tank on the former truck. Suppose the old gear pump come apart? I wash it out pretty good after removing the fittings in the bottom and it comes clean. I then install it onto the truck after swapping fuel fittings in the driveway and have no more problems. Maybe now the fuel will last a little longer........ This truck has very little paint on the cab so really needed to get it back into the building. Rob
  10. Here is the brochure I'd seen on ebay. It is pretty close but if better is available I'd like to have a copy still. My truck has "Budd" hubs on the front but I think that would work alright. When is the last time anybody seen one of the original trucks with this paint job at a show, or working? I haven't in several years but remember them well when I was in middle school during the early 1970's. Thanks Rob
  11. Hi Greg, she is not breast feeding per se. The baby, (Kinley) will not "latch on" and feed. Nikki pumps almost two liters per day and freezes the milk in a new deep freezer I purchased just for the purpose. We thaw it out and prefill bottles to give to the baby. This works very well. We were concerned about the amount she produces so plenty of vitamins and such to supplement the normal diet which will need improvement. I'm gonna tell you this scared the shit outta me and "Momma". I actually got a call at work telling me her upper extremities and feet were refusing to move so I took off immediately. The emergency room nurses asked if she had collapsed due to such low readings of the electrolytes count. Five full days later of concentrated fluids flowing into her veins and she feels a bit better. Thanks for the support. Rob
  12. My daughter Nikki's electrolyte levels dropped suddenly last week. While watching her drink from a glass after her complaining about not being able to feel her feet, or right hand, she dropped a damned near full glass of soda on the kitchen table. Thinking there is something wrong here, I took her to the doctor. They discovered she was on the verge of a heart attack, (not kidding) at 26 years old. They immediately starting injecting fluids into her as the potassium level was very near zero in readings from the lab work. Potassium affects muscular activity and the heart is a muscle and was shutting down. Five days later she is stabilized and we brought her home about an hour ago. She seems to be doing well but is very tired. Her arms are full of holes from the intraveneous drips she has been on for several days. Gonna have to keep an eye on her closely over the next few days, and teach her how to eat bananas. Had to cancel attending Morgan's truck show today due to this but believe it or not, Mack places second in my life. Rob
  13. Type "F" series are the connectors that plug into your television and stereos. They use a female threaded barrel. It is much better to make your own cables that purchase ones from places like "Radio Shack" or retail establishments. These are 75 ohm cable; RG-59 series. Rob
  14. You have emulated our thoughts exactly. My daughter is a certified and licensed Veterinary Technician. I hope to convince her to further into a full fledged verterinarian at some point as she absolutely loves animals of all kinds with extra care for the "unfortunate ones". Rob
  15. Used a lot with BNC and F type connectors. Hexagonal crimp tool. I use them a lot for 50 ohm, and 75 ohm coax cable as has been stated. Rob
  16. That is the shot I was looking for. Knowing the badging measures right at 2.125" in height would put the size of the stars right at 5.25". These trucks all used the smaller "MACK" badging when common. I'm thinking the sides had seven stars down the sizes but this was with the smaller cab design. I may place an eighth star due to the three inch longer cab. I'll lay it out and make the determination. Thanks, Rob
  17. Although I've never seen it I'm certain it is a wonderful product. I prefer a product called "Plumbers Butt Crack Caulk". It offers both an excellent balance of antibiotic action, and cheek stabilization in a single application. The foaming does take a bit of time to get used to however. Rob
  18. I'm told you can but once you start, you can't stop. Trouble is that if you don't lick often, they start to stink. You really don't want to use water as a "funk reduction agent" either as it can short them out. Rob
  19. My daughter Nikki, and "Momma" have raised a over a dozen abandoned/orphaned/injured animals through the years including cats, dogs, rabbits, birds, mice, (wtf?), and even a litter of coons. Both of our current dogs and "Mouser1" are rescues. They make some of the best pets due to the support given when young. Rob
  20. Damn, now I'm dissapointed. I thought I'd placed enough charge behind it to make the mid Atlantic ocean before striking anything. Oh well, my ballistics need some adjustment and recalculation. Rob

    Well Dammit:

I've seen many of the top adjuster brackes busted through the years, some welded, some not. Problematic so you don't want to weaken them in any fashion. Rob
  22. Hi Mark, yes it is. I need to be able to "scale" it for ratio and proportion. The one I've found on ebay is not detailed enough. Thanks, Rob
  23. I'm thinking of painting my winch truck in the early 1970's paint scheme with the "stars and bars". Anybody got a good brochure from the timeframe they could scan so I can start with the layout? I don't think I've seen a truck painted like that since I was a kid but it would cojur up some memories at shows I'm sure. Thanks, Rob
  24. Get yourself another "lesbian" mouse, place them side by side on their backs, bend down and give each one's optical port a good wet lick and step back watching the action. Be sure and have that webcam going cause the action could be short!! I thought lesbian animals went out with the exinction of the "Lickalotapus's. Rob

    Well Dammit:

Don't grind on either part. They will be substantially weakened and break from engine vibration. Make an extension to bolt to both the bracket, and the alternator tensioning ear. If clearance allows, the alternator can be left to not "swing" in it's adjustment arc as close to the engine. This extension can be a small piece of 3/16's strap with rounded ends to fit with a hole in each end for the bolts to pass through. You will need to investigate a proper belt for driving it but again don't do any grinding to existing parts. Try to acquire drive belts(s) that allow proper tension while in the center of adjustment range on the top bracket such is shown in your second photo. Rob
