  1. Standard on IH for years. Rob
  2. Hi Bill, this is one I would not be afraid to recommend to anyone for purchase. I don't make a statement like that often. Glad to hear you at least "getting along". The outcome could have been much worse. Someone was looking out for you. Rob
  3. PT Barnum said it best: "There's a sucker born every day". Rob

    Well Dammit:

Yup, this son-of-a-bitch done bit me in the ass tonight too. I dumped 20 gallon of fuel in the tank, filled the filters, applied 25psi to the fuel tank to speed the process. While cranking the engine, I hear a strange "pop" on the side of the truck. This concerns me so I get out of the truck, walk around to the other side to discover the lower sump blown out of the tank along with 15 plus gallons on diesel fuel in the driveway. I captured about three gallons when it was all said and done. I guess the good side is that randyp has my gorilla so I don't have to starve her a week to make up for the loss. "Mouser 1" earns his keep, so he is out. The grandaughter is special, so she is alright, Nikki is the new mother so she is safe. Looks like "Momma" is gonna be mad at me again......... I have extra tanks so that is not really a loss. Rob
  5. Yeah, welcome back. You can keep the snow. Matter of fact, when it starts here, I'll send it your way no charge. Rob
  6. We have been "agressively" working this truck the past couple of weeks so it may just happen in time to be there next year! Certainly hoping so. Keep up the encouragement as I need it. That trip really tuckered me out driving both ways alone. I'm gonna try to bring some company next time, ("Momma")? Her sweet, shrill, one sided conversations complaining about what I'd done at about 110dB certainly work to keep me awake. Rob

    Well Dammit:

I need to measure the bottom radiator tank on my R795 truck so I start it up, let the air build, release the brakes to back it to a spot in the driveway and what the HELL happens? It runs outta fuel in the driveway blocking the front overhead door to the shop!! Well having a belly ache from eating at the cheap chinese joint for lunch and being loaded with gas myself, I just didn't feel like screwing with it tonight. I dropped the overhead door, shut the lights out and went home to play with the grandaughter. Now I'm going to bed cause I feel if I stay up much longer I'm gonna puke. Man driving all that distance in that short of time must not be for me anymore..... Rob
  8. I'm afraid of how he and the gorilla would make use of it. Rob
  9. Hi there, yes I have seen it in person. Some things are acceptable, some need a little more "finesse". A good start to a nice conversion but just a little more time needs exercised in the process. Not running the project down, just my opinion(s). Rob
  10. Quite possible. I attend as many as humanly possible. Everybody wants me you know...... Rob
  11. Good little loging dozer with the blade fence like that. Surprised it doesn't have any risers on it however. Rob
  12. I too spent quite a bit of time with him at South Bend. Really enjoyed his company and "wit". So sad to hear of his passing. I wish the best for his memory, and family. Rob
  13. The B67 concave cab is tiny for certain. You know me, 5'2", 307 pounds; I have to open the driver's door for enough room to lift my left leg to fart. Rob
  14. I actually read her a good portion of my posts. She rolls her eyes just before punishing me. Rob
  15. Lot of nice trucks in that line. Glad I got to see each just before they started breaking up. Prolly won't see a spectacle like that again for quite some time. Thanks for sharing, Rob
  16. I dunno, but it does look like they're staring down the outhouses. I assume the gents are contemplating capacity before the facility needs service given the crowd. Rob.
  17. I blow my own horn all the time. I'd like it to sound better too. Rob
  18. I'm gonna try to sashay my ass over thataway for the show. I'll prolly have the "Trusty, Yet Crusty" Dodge again cause I like to get where I'm going and can't use a Mack to haul anything yet. Rob
  19. Damn and I'm into "Pulp Fiction" so a foot massage fits right in. Rob
  20. I may see if I can attend. That is about 500 miles and no mountains. Rob
  21. Being from Jersey with the age I'll bet it would scale "lighter" empty than a comparable one from say Nevada? Rob
  22. That works good. I told "Momma" I wanted one of those shirts too. She says when I get something done in the shop a shirt with one of my trucks will be upon it. Don't think I'll have her model it however. She kinda looks like she is standing inside a large cardboard box with the arms cut out in silouette. Also got that lower belly thing going down to about 1/2 way to the knees. Rob
  23. Hi Glenn, I was referring to retrofit existing equipment on the engine. Something like a sandwich housing that would retain the thermostat between the existing water manifold, and the hose adapter. Rob
  24. I've thought about engineering a stainless "butterfly" type affair to incorporate into the upper radiator hose mounting area to restrict coolant flow driving the temperature up. Doing this cost effective so everybody could afford it is the problem. Rob
  25. There is a "shutterstat" that is threaded into the water manifold near the front. This has an air line that runs to the cylinder controlling the shutters operation. It senses water temperature and routes air to the cylinder to close the shutters when the coolant is cool. It cuts off and bleeds air to open the shutters when the coolant is hot. Some are adjustable, most are not. Cardboard seems to be the best and most cost effective solution for the low temp situation if you're not loading, or using the truck. Rob
